Sonja (sonjac) | 1364 comments Hi Mary-Megan!
Here are your picks for August! If you're anything like me, you've got a long list of books to read. I tried to keep it to only two each, but there were some I just couldn't pass up recommending! Hope you find some goodies in here to enjoy!

1. ✱Recommend a book that has a Moon, Sun, Earth or ‘something’ circular on the cover or a cover that is ‘very dark’.
TBR: Moondance Beach - Moon on cover. I actually have this series on my TBR list...
NEW: Worth the Fall - do killer pecs count as circular? Well I’m counting them. There’s also circular lighting in the BG for those ‘rules sticklers’ out there. Despite the swoon-worthy cover, this is a really good book.
Moondance Beach (Bayberry Island, #3) by Susan Donovan Worth the Fall (The McKinney Brothers, #1) by Claudia Connor

2. ✱Recommend an historical romance or a YA genre book.
TBR: The Heiress Effect - (Historical) Possibly my favorite of the whole Brothers Sinister series. I looove Oliver’s character and I adore Jane’s personality. A MUST read!
NEW: The Perils of Pleasure - (Historical) I recently finished this 11-book series called Pennyroyal Green. Absolutely LOVED it! Not all the books were my tops, but most of them were. It deviates from the tiny town of Pennyroyal Green, but everything comes back to that town and revolves around two leading families there. This one starts with a POW as it begins with one of them is about to be hanged. There suspense, action (ahem nookie), romance, mystery and lots of good dialog and familial relationships.
NEW: Again the Magic - (Another historical) I saw you read and loved Lisa Kleypas’ Friday Harbor series (I love them too!) This is another epic series she wrote, though it’s historical. It starts with this one and packs a whopper of emotion into it!
The Heiress Effect (Brothers Sinister, #2) by Courtney Milan The Perils of Pleasure (Pennyroyal Green, #1) by Julie Anne Long Again the Magic (Wallflowers, #0.5) by Lisa Kleypas

3. ✱Recommend a book that has the person on the cover wearing eye glasses or anything else on their head OR where MC is a ‘protector’ ie military or ‘alpha-like’ character.
TBR: Extreme Honor - (protector) Yum yum cover! 
NEW: Santerra's Sin: A Loveswept Classic Romance - (H- i.e. Mr. Abs - is a protector in a super-secret operative branch of the military) This is an older series (1996), republished in 2012. First of all… can we all just pause and stare at that cover? **sigh** huh? What? Oh, right, the recommendation. Yeah, just check out my review here (ignoring the 90's era mullet) and give it a try! 
Extreme Honor (True Heroes, #1) by Piper J. Drake Santerra's Sin A Loveswept Classic Romance by Donna Kauffman

4. ✱Recommend a book where the cover depicts something found in nature, a bird on the cover, or the word ‘night’ or ‘shadow’ in the title or series name. A suspense will work too!
TBR: First Star I See Tonight - (night and stars count as nature) On my TBR list too!
NEW: A Knight in Shining Armor - (night and nature) Saw you had this one in your to-read list and I suggest bumping it up. Hands down one of my favorites, which says a lot because I generally avoid time-travel novels.
NEW: A Night to Surrender - (night) Well I HAD to recommend two here… LOVE this series and am still reading it! Set in a small town called Spindle Cove and great characters common to most all of Tessa Dare’s books, IMHO.
First Star I See Tonight (Chicago Stars, #8) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux A Night to Surrender (Spindle Cove, #1) by Tessa Dare

5. ✱Recommend a book that has at least 60,000 ratings or a book that’s been made or that you think should be made in to a movie/tv for viewing.
TBR: The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer - 127,803 ratings – Good grief! Clearly I’ve missed something here!
NEW: Archer's Voice - NEEDS to be a movie… (with Charlie Hunnam as Archer... *drool*) Despite the cover, this is a powerfully emotional story set in a small town in Maine... It’s also perilously close to 60K ratings!
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #1) by Michelle Hodkin Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan

6. ✱Recommend a book where a MC is a musician, cowboy or super sexy OR the main setting is in the USA, personal bonus if it’s set in ‘Tennessee.'
TBR: Part Time Cowboy - Cowboy... duh... LOL
NEW: Secrets of Bella Terra - (Set in US – northern CA, super sexy brothers) Good mystery and romance and suspense!
NEW: The One In My Heart - (Set in US - east coast) This one was a surprise! I thought I'd only 'like' it, but turns out it got me good. Some good surprises and an excellent love story.
Part Time Cowboy (Copper Ridge, #1) by Maisey Yates Secrets of Bella Terra (Scarlet Deception #1) by Christina Dodd The One In My Heart by Sherry Thomas

7.✱ Recommend a book with a car or road on the cover or a story that has a ‘road trip’ (any sort of journey for the character or reader) or ‘storm’ (stormy relationships or characters count!) that takes place somewhere in the story.
TBR: This Heart of Mine - Road on cover
NEW: Dirty - (journey, stormy relationship) I just read this for June as a recommendation (My Review ). It is definitely stormy and the MC has a LONG hard road outta her own personal hell and the H and h have a definite stormy relationship. Caution: It’s intense! There’s some serious nookie here, esp in the beginning. It also deals with real life relationship and family issues along with the human tendency to shut out help and hide behind complacency and daily life. The MC does that even to you as the reader. A very good book and worth the read, but don’t look at it like it’ll be an HEA…
This Heart of Mine (Whiskey Creek, #8) by Brenda Novak Dirty (Dan and Elle #1) by Megan Hart

8. ✱Recommend a book that has the letters N-A-S-A (A does not need to appear twice) somewhere in the title OR in tribute to ‘life beyond’ a book genre that’s paranormal or fantasy.
TBR: Blood of Saints - N-A-S
NEW: Romancing the Duke (Castles Ever After Series) - N-A-S-A and one of the characters writes fantasy stories. Another historical (sorry, it’s my forte), but this one… this will refresh your belief in love, in the power of kindness and optimism and in happily ever after!
Blood of Saints (Sabrina Vaughn #4) by Maegan Beaumont Romancing the Duke (Castles Ever After, #1) by Tessa Dare

Happy reading!

TBR: A Spell of Trouble - I recently read a freebie in another series by this author. I wish I'd picked up this series! The cover is so freakin' cute!
New: A Discovery of Witches - I put off reading this for so long because so many people called it Twilight for adults. It's not. It is way longer than it needs to be and has virginal characters but it's such a great story and so much fun to read.
A Spell of Trouble (Silver Hollow #1) by Leighann Dobbs A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness

2. ✱Recommend an historical romance or a YA genre book.

The Lion's Daughter (Scoundrels, #1) by Loretta Chase Written in Red (The Others, #1) by Anne Bishop

5. ✱Recommend a book that has at least 60,000 ratings or a book that’s been made or that you think should be made in to a movie/tv for viewing.

TBR: Listen to Me - I haven't tried this series but it seems really popular and her Love Under the Big Sky series is one I enjoy.
New: First Grave on the Right - Goofy but dark at times, this series is really great! I'm not crazy about the romance aspect in the first book but Charley and Cookie are my idols ;) I think her writing is similar to Molly Harper.

**SQUEEEEE** SO super excited, when I saw you were picking for me, Kait! THank you for all these! Some of them have been waiting months for me to get to them!

I'm actually reading Into the Fury now, so can we switch that one to the second one Into the Whirlwind? I'm already pretty sure I'm gonna want to read that one too... LOL
Into the Whirlwind (BOSS, Inc. #2) by Kat Martin
and with a cover like that....

And I've already got holds on A Discovery of Witches, The Perfect Rake, The Lion's Lady, Written in Red, Listen to Me, First Grave on the Right and A Promise of Fire...
and picked up The Lion's Daughter and The Edge of Never and The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie since they were available via eBook.
I had several of these on my To-Read shelf through my library and a couple already on hold or in my shelf.

Perhaps it would have been better to tell you the ones I couldn't put holds on.... HA!
How am I EVER going to read all these in one month and with a vacation coming up? LOL

Nancy H | 1111 comments Hi Carrie,
Here are your picks. You have a lot of really wonderful books awaiting you on your TBR list! It was hard to find ones that I like that you don't already have on your list, so if you don't see anything here you like, please let me know and I will pick some more for you. You definitely have some 'good reads' coming up.

Military/Protector:Stranded with the SEAL Stranded with the SEAL (HERO Force, #1) by Amy Gamet and What I Love About You What I Love About You (Truly, Idaho, #3; Military Men, #1) by Rachel Gibson

Something found in nature: Bees - The Secret Life of Bees The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd and Beach - The New Mrs D The New Mrs D by Heather Hill - Both of these are really good.

Movie/TV or 60,000 ratings: Twenties Girl Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella - over 60,000 ratings; One for the Money One for the Money (Stephanie Plum, #1) by Janet Evanovich - I think this series should definitely be done for TV and/or movies. It is funny and good and would be a hoot.

Happy Reading!

Diane ~Firefly~ | 1511 comments Leigh,

You have some great books on your TBR, so I hope you like these picks.

1. I read the first in this series (and the spin off with Miss Frost) and liked it - The Werewolf Meets His Match by Kristen Painter. Or check out this paranormal cozy where Stacy tries to deny her witchcraft heritage in Opal Fire by Barbra Annino.

The Werewolf Meets His Match (Nocturne Falls, #2) by Kristen Painter Opal Fire (A Stacy Justice Mystery, #1) by Barbra Annino

2. We have a good YA book with Paranormalcy by Kiersten White or check out a fun historical romance with Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare.

Paranormalcy (Paranormalcy, #1) by Kiersten White Romancing the Duke (Castles Ever After, #1) by Tessa Dare

3. I really liked Abby and the whole psychic thing worked pretty well in Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye by Victoria Laurie. Or check out Harper who wants to protect people but needs help from a former vampire hunter in Semi-Charmed by Isabel Jordan

Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye (Psychic Eye Mystery, #1) by Victoria Laurie Semi-Charmed (Harper Hall Investigations #1) by Isabel Jordan

4. Continue the great series by Ilona Andrews with Fate's Edge. A widowed woman's daughters sign her up for a local cooking show and she ends up being partnered with an angry professional chef in the sweet romance A Taste of Heaven by Penny Watson

Fate's Edge (The Edge, #3) by Ilona Andrews A Taste of Heaven by Penny Watson

5. Wow, it is hard to find books with 60k ratings, so I went with ones I thought would make good movies. Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library by Chris Grabenstein is a lot of fun as some kids get stuck in the coolest library ever trying to solve a mystery. I think Summon the Keeper by Tanya Huff would be an interesting TV series with the mix of humor and urban fantasy. Claire is "summoned" to a guesthouse and gets plenty of interesting visitors while dealing with a noisy hole to hell in the basement.

Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library (Mr. Lemoncello's Library #1) by Chris Grabenstein Summon the Keeper (Keeper Chronicles #1) by Tanya Huff

6. Metro Girl by Janet Evanovich is set in Florida and is a fun romp. Or check out the amazing Lick by Kylie Scott where Ev wakes up in Vegas hungover and married to a famous guitarist.

Metro Girl (Alex Barnaby, #1) by Janet Evanovich Lick (Stage Dive, #1) by Kylie Scott

Romanticbookworm | 410 comments Hi Rebecca your picks for this month are below:

1. A solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes in front of the Sun and casts a shadow across the Earth.
✱Recommend a book that has a Moon, Sun, Earth or ‘something’ circular on the cover or a cover that is ‘very dark’.

TBR: The Mayfair Moon (The Darkwoods Trilogy, #1) by J.A. Redmerski

New: The Shadow Queen (Ravenspire, #1) by C.J. Redwine

2. The last time a total solar eclipse spanned the contiguous United States was in 1918…the last one visible in the U.S. was 38 years ago…”wow I would have been a teenager…were you even born yet?”
✱Recommend an historical romance or a YA genre book.

TBR: Slated (Slated, #1) by Teri Terry - Love this trilogy

New: The Diabolic (The Diabolic, #1) by S.J. Kincaid

3. Warning! Safety First! Never look directly at the sun without proper eye protection! Special Safety Glasses or using a ‘sun funnel’ are two recommendations for looking directly at the sun.
✱Recommend a book that has the person on the cover wearing eye glasses or anything else on their head OR where MC is a ‘protector’ ie military or ‘alpha-like’ character.

TBR: 50 Ways to Hex Your Lover (Hex #1) by Linda Wisdom

New: All I Ask (Man Enough, #1) by Nicole McLaughlin

4. Nature will be affected during the eclipse…depending on your surroundings, as totality nears you may experience strange things. You’ll notice a resemblance to the onset of night. Shadows will look different. Usually, any breeze will dissipate and birds will stop chirping. It is quiet. Feel a 10-15 degree drop in temperature. Who knows what else might happen!
✱Recommend a book where the cover depicts something found in nature, a bird on the cover, or the word ‘night’ or ‘shadow’ in the title or series name. A suspense will work too!

TBR: Shadows and Strongholds (FitzWarin #1) by Elizabeth Chadwick

New: Cleopatra's Shadows by Emily Holleman

5. More than 500 million people in the US, Canada and Mexico will have opportunity to view at least a partial eclipse. The ‘path of totality’ runs through 10 states and makes it within 60 miles of more than 28 million people.
✱Recommend a book that has at least 60,000 ratings or a book that’s been made or that you think should be made in to a movie/tv for viewing.

TBR: The Last Kingdom (The Saxon Stories, #1) by Bernard Cornwell

New: The Child Queen by Nancy McKenzie - one of my all time favourite books

6. Only one large city has a ‘great view’…Congratulations if you’re a citizen of Nashville, Tennessee! Home of the Grand Ole Opry and Country Music.
✱Recommend a book where a MC is a musician, cowboy or super sexy OR the main setting is in the USA, personal bonus if it’s set in ‘Tennessee.'

TBR: Chill Factor by Sandra Brown - (USA)

New: Taking Shots (Assassins, #1) by Toni Aleo

7. #1 problem around this event? Definite: TRAFFIC! Potential: weather/clouds that decided to ruin all the fun!
✱ Recommend a book with a car or road on the cover or a story that has a ‘road trip’ (any sort of journey for the character or reader) or ‘storm’ (stormy relationships or characters count!) that takes place somewhere in the story.

TBR: Stormwalker (Stormwalker, #1) by Allyson James

New: Storm Siren (Storm Siren, #1) by Mary Weber

8. NASA is leading the effort in educating us about the total Solar Eclipse…read more about it at: Eclipse-who-what-when-where-how
✱Recommend a book that has the letters N-A-S-A (A does not need to appear twice) somewhere in the title OR in tribute to ‘life beyond’ a book genre that’s paranormal or fantasy.

TBR: Dancing With Werewolves (Delilah Street, Paranormal Investigator, #1) by Carole Nelson Douglas

New: Falling Kingdoms (Falling Kingdoms, #1) by Morgan Rhodes - Love this series

I hope you find something that you like :).
