Nocturne Falls #2

The Werewolf Meets His Match

Rate this book
Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town where Halloween is celebrated 365 days a year.

The tourists think it's all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better. Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs and all.

Getting arrested wasn’t on werewolf Ivy Kincaid’s agenda when she arrived in Nocturne Falls, but her life rarely goes according to plan. The upside of spending the night in the local lock-up is finding a hotel room is no longer a worry...but the downside is the man she’s come to marry will get his first impression of her behind bars. Not exactly the way Ivy was hoping to meet her pack's sworn enemy...aka her fiancé.

Sheriff (and werewolf) Hank Merrow is the alpha's heir. Everything he's ever done, from becoming an Army Ranger to serving in law enforcement, has been in preparation for the day he’ll take over. Getting married to cement a shaky truce is no different. Hank will do his duty, even if it means shackling himself to a woman he has no intention of liking, let alone loving.

But Ivy is nothing like Hank expected. As feisty as she is beautiful, she's as determined as he is to make a go of marriage for the sake of peace between their packs. The trouble is, Ivy has secrets that could destroy everything Hank holds dear...including his newfound love for her.

This was a great arranged marriage romance. Sheriff and werewolf Hank Marrow agrees to an arranged marriage to the daughter of a werewolf from a powerful pack, Ivy. Little does he know that Ivy's father is abusive and controls her entire family and Ivy has been doing everything she can to escape and protect her other family members from him. Loved all the twists and turns in this one even more than the first book in the series. Was such a sucker for Hank and Ivy's happy ending. And Charlie's too. Very enjoyable read.

3.5 stars!
This was a fun, entertaining and captivating read about Hank Merrow, the town sheriff that’s a werewolf and all around good guy. He agrees to an arranged marriage to a longtime rival werewolf pack.

Ivy Kincaid looks like a bad girl but is a sweet person that has a terrible dad. She’s a werewolf as well that's forced to marry Hank because her father is holding power over her and threatening someone close to her that she loves.

Of course, this is an instalove book so I’m guessing that all the supernatural relationships will likely go this way in the series. I guess I need to buckle up for that.

Overall final thoughts: Fun and entertaining book to read concerning werewolves, pack politics and HEA stories!

This is second in a series, though they aren't terribly interrelated. The couple from the first book are present but you don't get any extra context by knowing their story. I'd still recommend reading in order, though.

This one was a bit more serious than the others by the author I've read so far. The conflict starts off internal with Ivy having secrets she's keeping and pressures she is under for the arranged marriage to Hank. She's a good person and hates the secrets so she's doing the best she can. Still, that tension has some weight that kept this from being as fluffy as you might expect.

That said, Hank is a great guy and I personally had no doubt where he'd break once the secrets came out. He's one of those competent caretakers I love so much, so it wasn't a hard sell to spend time while Ivy figures her situation out. Plus, Ivy is awesome in her own right when all is said. She has been dealt a crap family and is just so appreciative of Hank's stellar qualities that it was fun being along for that ride, too.

The tensions are eventually pulled to the external sources they started as and bad guys start popping out of the woodwork. Which gave Ivy and Hank opportunity to solidify as a team. It's still a really fast timetable to arrive at I love yous, but I enjoyed seeing them gel and start taking things on together.

I'm not sure it ever got to the fluffy read I had expected. Things stay pretty tense with shifters playing deadly games for dominance (not Hank's people, the bad guys play the deadly games against Hank and his pals). I loved seeing the good guys bat right back and not hesitating to do the hard things when they needed doing. And yes, Hank really is all that when he goes all hard boy why do you ask?

I'm giving this four stars as it's still a very light story, despite the harder themes this takes on. And things end up very ideal in ways that evoke fantasy or fairy tale. This is expected, so not a knock on the story. It's just I can't quite justify going to five stars under the circumstances.

A note about Chaste: There's sex in the story, though it is off page. The making out goes far enough that this very nearly trips out of my Chaste category but I think it held the line. It'd be a reasonable call to disagree with me on that, though, as it does come pretty close to, shudder, details...

**I was lucky enough to receive and ARC of this book from the author**

As followers of my reviews will know I am a HUGE Kristen Painter fan BUT they will also know I am not such a fan of shifter/ wolf books so when I heard that book 2 was going to focus on those characters I was a little worried that I wouldn't like it as much.

My fears were unfounded. All I can say it I WANT TO LIVE IN NOCTURNE FALLS!! Seriously, pack my bags and let's go! The town is amazing, (seriously who wouldn't want Halloween every day?), all the characters just jump off the pages, and it makes you just want to be a part of what THEY have .... well except the wolf part ... I'll be one of the other supernatural characters ... there are plenty to choose from!

I was thrilled to see Sebastian pop up again. There may have only been a few lines about him across BOTH the books but he is my favorite. I can't wait for him to have his own story!

Overall this is a fun read with some really touching moments thrown in that shows you that there really are some good "guys" out there if you know where to look! I think paranormal fans will LOVE it! Even better you really could read this one without having read books 1 - the story stands alone. Personally I would say grab book 1 too! You won't regret it. This is the type of collection that you will want to have on your shelves available to reread. Ooooh it also needs to be on TV! You really can "see" everything so clearly. It is magical! Someone make this happen!

Another easy 5 stars from me - despite the furriness lol ;) V""V

The Werewolf Meets His Match is book two in the Nocturne Falls series by Kristen Painter.

This story was entertaining, fun, and easy to read. I enjoy the concept of a town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year and supernaturals can be who they are.

Here we meet Hank Merrow the town Sheriff, werewolf, and first born son of the Alpha. We also meet Ivy Kincaid the bad girl, werewolf, and wants out of her situation, but only has one option and that’s to do what her father says. I’m not a fan of Ivy, but I can understand her not trusting easily. I felt she should have told Hank, but I can see why she held back. Hank I loved. He’s a sweet man, Army Ranger, and Sheriff of the town, so he’s a hero and has a good head on his shoulder.

This is an instalove storyline. An arranged marriage to formalize the treaty between packs, but their are other things in play too. Hank and Ivy have three days to get to know each other; before they tie the knot. This was a fast romance, very fast. It’s got pack politics and a town full of fun supernaturals.

Overall, The Werewolf Meets His Match was an ok read. I enjoyed.

I enjoyed this 2nd installment of Nocturne Falls even better than Book 1. The MCs were totally likeable and relatable & story had more substance to it.

The insta-love is still there, but if you get over that, it is an easy and totally entertaining, cosy (and mostly clean) romance read.

I love a good supernatural book and books about Nocturne Falls are among my favorites. Imagine visiting a place where vampires and werewolves live like normal people...with a few twists. In this book our heroine is sent to marry the town sheriff. She appears to be a bit of a wild child, he appears to be an upstanding, law abiding citizen. But, looks can be deceiving.
An adorable romance with fun characters.

Ugh I'm DNFing this at 25% because it's aggravating me. I'm sick of being told how great a lover this dude is, how he's an artist with his hands, blah blah blah - after the event. It's weirdly sexless and trying to be sexy and it's just not working. At all. The insta-love isn't helping, nor is the secret keeping or the corny thoughts of the heroine. I liked book 1 well enough but this is like a carbon copy with werewolves instead of a vampire. I guess I don't have patience this week. Maybe I'll come back to it, maybe I won't. For now I'm not going to rate it because I am a quitter.

Dear Readers,

I come to you as a faithful fan of Kristen Painter to SQUEALLLLLLLL IN YOUR EAR!!!! Not to annoy you but rather to tell you to get your planner out and scribble the release date of The Werewolf Meets His Match in it!! In PURPLE INK to match the cover!! If you have an electronic planner/calendar just enter it in there too. OR HOWEVER YOU REMIND YOURSELF OF A RELEASE, because I know as a any true bookie does you have a way to remind yourself of a release!!

Thanks you!
Now for my Reveiw

This is the second book in the series but NOT the second book I have read from Kristen Painter. She is multi-talented writer and excels in flipping back and forth through her genres. Flashing from Urban Fantasy to Paranormal Romance back to Urban Fantasy and to an almost comedicly light but still edgy fun Paranormal Romance in Nocturne Falls. Are you still with me?? I maybe babbling because I haven't slept. I read straight through the night! YUP sure did!!!

Anywhoooooooo... Hank Merro is the alpha heir (and should be mine by all rights in my mind) and Ivy Kincaid is a werewolf from a not so honorable pack. They met because they were forced to pay an old debt between the two packs. Tsk Tsk Tsk... HANDSOME Hank being an honorable alpha heir took it all in stride and honored the debt. Beautiful troubled Ivy, coming from an almost criminal pack did it to change her moon and stars!! Sounds pretty cool right? Almost perfect?? ALMOST! Now what would mess this up??

Let me just change how I normally end my reviews by tipping my head back and letting out a loud howl at the moon as Kristen Painter knocked it out of the park for me here!! I love me some shifters so she gets all the stars I can stuff in my big old “Mary Poppins” purse!!!

Hank Merrow is the eldest of the current alpha of the Georgia pack - as such he knows/knew that he might very easily find himself in some kind of arranged marriage situation due to various reasons, mainly related to werewolf politics. Knowing this, he has spent his life avoiding relationships, working in the military (Army Ranger), and is currently the Sheriff of Nocturne Falls.

Ivy Kincaid is a daughter of the current alpha of the ... um . . . [insert state name here] pack. I read this book something like three books ago - and there's been a bunch of 'origin' states of the characters so I can't really remember if the other wolfpack is in Arkansas, or Tennessee or . . . where exactly. No matter. She has many brothers, and a downright nasty father. She initially tried to break free from the family, at least in the sense of attempting to lead her own life, but it was not to be - that didn't mean that she necessarily assumed she'd end up in an arranged marriage type situation. But her father is her father, and she was given 15 minutes to start towards Georgia to meet and marry, in three days, a man she'd never meet.

Oh, and the Kincaid's and the Merrow's kind of have a currently inactive feud like vibe. The only reason why the Merrow's are accepting of this arranged marriage thingie with the Kincaid's is because they 'owe' the Kincaid's for helping when Hank's brother was in their territory.

The Kincaid's have a criminal vibe, the Merrow's have a law and order vibe (that brother mentioned above is the fire chief in Nocturne Falls). They kind of have an instant and instinctual dislike for each other. Naturally this leads to issues when romance is on the table. Or, actually, romance isn't on the table, an arranged marriage is.

Doesn't help matters that Ivy and Hank first meet with Ivy reclining on a bed in Hank's jail. Kind of reinforces that criminal vibe.

I rather liked both Ivy and Hank - unexpectedly. I had been somewhat vaguely reluctant to start this one - having previously meet Hank in the previous Nocturne Falls book, and in the first Frost mystery series book.

This book promises loads of drama, delivers on almost none of it, and then crams a butt-ton of action in the last 10% of the plot.
But dang it, it was fluffy and fun and I genuinely enjoyed almost every moment of it.
I mentioned in my review of the first book that it was probably a good thing my library didn't have any more of the series because I could only lose so many brain cells. But now I have a library with the whole series so.....
Let's do it.

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

Hank is the werewolf sheriff of Nocturne Falls, the only city that's Halloween all year round. He is also the next in line for Alpha. Because of this he is required to marry a female from another pack to help secure a truce between the two packs. Ivy sneaks into Nocturne Falls to meet her new husband. And gets into a fight with a human and thrown into jail all in the space of a few hours in town.

Ivy is a badass on the outside full of confidence and won't take any shot from anyone. Inside and in privacy she is broken. Her abusive upbringing may have hardened her physically and taught her to show no weakness but she's broken emotionally. She is expecting her new husband to be the same as the males from her pack - abusive.

Hank accepts his position, that he is to marry his enemy packs daughter to seal the truce between their packs. What he doesn't expect is to be attracted to her, a criminal.

I adored this book. Nocturne Falls has become my favourite book world to sink into. The characters are fun to read about. The twists are plentiful and unexpected. Reading as Hank and Ivy navigate their new lives together and as their assumptions about each other are proved wrong is inspiring. Instead of fighting each other and their circumstances they accept their lives and try to make the best of it. What results from these two characters is a heartwarming tale of second chances.

I don’t know if reading the first book helped but with this one I was immediately drawn back into the Nocturne Falls world and glad to be there. I really like the flow of these books – yes they are predictable but the characters are lovable and consistent. Something that as a reader is very comforting. With this book, the characters of Hank and Ivy had me more invested in their story than with Hugh and Delaney from the first book.

The story flowed very easily and the supporting characters felt the same as in the other Nocturne Falls books. It was easy to find myself in their world. As with the first book in the series I felt this one started to drag at the end and I wonder if this is going to continue to be a trend in the series. It is like the author is working very hard to make each book a certain length that causes her to throw in some random angst.

B.J. Harrison will now officially be the voice of Nocturne Falls for me. He does such an excellent job with the characters and their emotions that I won’t be able to accept anyone else as a narrator for this series.

I received this early copy from the author in exchange for an honest review, I was in no way compensated for this review.

I love Nocturne Falls! Seriously LOVE! I want to live there! I want to date a werewolf or vampire or shifter or gargoyle! I'm not picky! LOL! Kristen Painter returns to the quaint little town where it's Halloween all year round. But the tourists just think it's a gimmick. Not the boldly given truth! The Werewolf Meets His Match follows the Sheriff Hank Merrow and his soon to be bride, Ivy Kincaid. But there's more than meets the eye to their upcoming nuptials.

Ivy and Hank are being forced into an arranged marriage. Both are abiding to it out of a sense of duty, but for Ivy it's more than just that. Though they start off on a rough patch when Hank realizes his finacee was arrested the night before for getting involved in a bar fight. The two really end up hitting it off. They have an immediate attraction to one another. Is it because they're both wolves? The upcoming full moon which also is their wedding day? Tough to say. But there's definitely chemistry between them!

While things seem like they're going smoothly, Ivy is harboring a secret. One she is protecting as fiercely as she can for fear of angering her father and disrupting the upcoming wedding. It's one that could make Hank send her away for good. And he'd be in his right, unless they were already married, but even then Ivy isn't sure she'd want to stay. And it's not because Hank is a bad guy. Quite the opposite in fact.

As I said, there's definitely chemistry between Hank and Ivy and I got all the feels from watching these two interact. And even later on, my heart went pitter patter even more based on Hank's actions. Ivy definitely picked a winner here!

I am really loving this series so far! Only 2 books at the moment, but it's incredible! They are remarkable! I love how real these characters are! And the more residents of Nocturne Falls we meet, the more I want to see books with them in it! I still want to see our gargoyle Nick get a book. And now I'd like to see Hank's sister Bridget and a certain werewolf get a book! I wouldn't say no to Sebastian, Hugh's brother getting one either! And I'm sure by the next book there'll be another slew of characters I want to see more of!

Nocturne Falls is a highly addicting series! If you're a paranormal fan of any kind, then I highly recommend this series! They're fun, fast reads, but they are incredibly delightful! I'm all already itching for the next book and I don't even know the title yet!!

Audiobook Review

This series is cute, light-hearted, and romantic. This sequel to The Vampire's Mail Order Bride is just as engaging as the first book and the characters are just as likable - even though they're werewolves and vampires (and gargoyles, and witches)!

However, I didn't rate this one as high as the first book in the series because the ending seemed a little drawn out. And - I hope this is not a trend for the entire series - Painter has, for the second time, left some strings dangling at the end. Hopefully, they will be addressed as the series proceeds, and I do intend to keep going with it.

3 stars for this seasonally appropriate, spooky-lite read.

Sooo I just finished this book but apparently my goodreads just marked it as such when I put it in earlier today lol. Well, read it in one day so I guess that's okay..
I wanted to read supernatural romance sense this is the month of Holloween and this series fits the bill. Not only are they funny, sweet, troublesome and just all around charming, it's based in a town where Holloween is every day of the year.
This one touched my heart in a deeper sense though...shes a mother of a 7 year old...my son is only just turned 6. My heart had been on the presapus with their tale, and I can't wait to see them again in the next one.

Another fun instalment in a series, which is becoming fast one of my favorite cute & fluffy reads in 2015.

Just like the first book, The Vampire's Mail Order Bride,  I read The Werewolf Meets His Match in one sitting. It's cute, fun, entertaining and captivating.

This is set in the same town, Nocturne Falls. Which by the way is absolutely awesome. I love the idea of the towns history. Painter masterfully weaves reality and fantasy, which makes the town feel like a real place.. with a bit of magic.  The world building is on the light side, in compare to some of Painter's earlier works, which were intricate and mind-blowing. Nocturne Falls world building is somewhat lighter, but still extremely well done. It's definitely due to Painter's fabulous skills.

Painter does each and every time proof that she is a master of her craft. It doesn't matter if she writes, cute and fun novels like this one or intricate and darker ones like her Cresent City Series. Each novel is well constructed , thought through and incredibly beautiful written. Painters prose is one of my favorites. And this book makes no exception. It is beautifully written, the descriptions detailed and inspired. My favorite part of the book was when they were running in wolf form. Absolutely amazing! And the reason why Painter is one of my favorite authors. The prose is awe inspiring.

This is just like the previous novel completly character driven. I was looking forward to Hanks book. And disappointed I was not. I got a dose of the awesome sauce that is Hank and I am an utterly satisfied costumer.  Except, maybe Hank was a tad bit too perfect? But did that bother me? Nah!
Ivy is an interesting addition to the cast of the series and so is Sam - please let there be a book with him?!
I loved revisiting the characters from the previous novel. In just two books, I feel like I know all of them and I want more. As I was reading I found myself hoping that several characters will get their own book... the good news is that there will be at least two more novels in the series. Though I would happily read quite a few more than that (hint hint)

The plot was fast paced.  I loved the sizzling between Ivy and Hank. But my biggest issue with the book. It all happened so fast.  And that's also why I rated this a smidgen lower that the first novel. The miss-commitment-issues in me just couldn't wrap her head around how fast things kinda happened. I was totally taken aback in how Hank reacted to Ivy's secrets. Don't misunderstand me I loved it, but well, I found it a bit too perfect. Then there is my eternal shifter romance issues.. the mate thing. I still don't know where I stand with the shifter romance thing. I am not sure it's really my thing. BUT I didn't like this particular one, I loved the shifter politics, the pack- so I am not ready to give up on shifter romance as such. And Painter certainly is one to convert me to loving them.

So all I can do now: Wait for the next instalment of the series. And hope that Painter will write many more!

I first visited Nocturne Falls with the first book in the series, The Vampire’s Mail Order Bride. I didn’t know what to expect, but I found it in one of my email ‘freebie’ newsletters, and it sounded like fun, so what the heck?

It was, in a word, a Blast. I loved the town of Nocturne Falls, where Halloween is 365-days-a-year. What better way for witches, weres, vamps and all the other supernaturals to live their lives without fear of notice by the norms?

The books are $4.99 a piece, and with my tiny book budget and the plethora of less expensive books out there I hadn’t picked up another. But I finally broke down and bought The Werewolf Meets His Match and it was just as much fun as VMOB.

Hank Merrow, sheriff of Nocturne Falls and alpha’s heir, has always known that he would probably have to enter into an arranged marriage. Just part and parcel of being in his position. Sigh. But when he is notified that, not only is he going to have to have an arranged marriage, but it is to one of the bloody Kincaid Women (HORROR!) the temptation to back out of the whole deal is strong. But Hank is a good man, an honorable one, and his people don’t need another war. So, Suck it up, Buttercup, and marry the heathen already. Only, things may not be just exactly what they seem . . .

Ivy Kincaid’s first intro to Hank is from the other side of jailhouse bars. Well Hank isn’t really surprised by that. She is a Kincaid after all. But Ivy is just full of surprises. And the more Hank learns, the more he begins to think that things just may not be as bad as he expected. And when Hank learns Ivy’s secrets, he will soon discover that, lawman or not, some things are worth killing for.

I adored Ivy, her charming secret, and goofy, lovable Hank and his family. If you haven’t tried this series, check out the first one, it is only .99 on Amazon. Bet you get hooked as well! This one gets five stars. I adore Ivy, and her story made me want to stand right beside her and fight. Someone give me a map to Nocturne Falls - I want to live there!

This book Was Given To Me By The Author In Exchange For An Honest Review

This Read is amazing! Kristen Blows us all away again in this second book in the series! I couldn't put it down for a second! sexy werewolf sheriff finally meets his match! Kristen couldn't have told it better! I loved Ivy Kincaid she was just the kind of wolf that the sheriff needed. what I love most about Kristens books is the danger, the intrigue, the mystery, and the amazing twists and turns that she loves to throw into the story. The amazing realism that she brings to each and everyone of her characters as well is perfect so that even though you know your in a story it doesn't feel like one.

My favourite part of the story was how everyone treated and protected Ivy's little boy. It made it an even more beautiful and wonderful story with him init and made Hank and even better character I think. Aunt Birdie is a hoot and I love her character to pieces in this one!...lol

Kristen is an amazing writer and I love all of her work! this new series is incredible! I so can't wait to see what happens in this town next! maybe a sexy librarian? or a Photographer will come to town?...lol...anyway don't miss out on this succulent series! cause if you do you are so missing out!

Hank and Ivy are what love is all about. Nocturne Falls is a place I would love to live. The easy read , the way it pulls you into the lives of the characters as they become real in hour mind. This book along with the Mail Order Bride have become my favorite and I can hardly wait to see what will becoming next. So if you want to read something that will make you smile, laugh or cry and then laugh again it is time to read The Werewolf Meets His Match or the Mail Order Bride. Love the way Kristen Painter brings them all to life.

this book has me singing salt ’n’ pepa:

what a man, what a man, what a man, what a mighty good man. he's a mighty mighty good man! what a man, what a man, what a man, …

yes, this story of ivy and hank is really sappy, romantic, exciting, with a hero that is almost too much (of everything)...
but it really hit the spot after recently re-reading wuthering heights !!!

If it were a real place, I could just go to Nocturne Falls for the Zombie Prom. But since it’s not, I’m going to have to take some drastic action. I’m officially campaigning to make “Halloween in June” a thing. (You’ll all sign my petition, right?) We already have Christmas in July, so why not? I’m seriously in love with this town where it’s Halloween all year long, and with this series.

The second book, The Werewolf Meets His Match, features the town sheriff Hank Merrow, who agrees to an arranged marriage in order to cement a truce between his werewolf pack and its long-time rival. Ivy Kincaid looks like a bad girl with her tattoos and her Harley. And her family’s unsavory reputation certainly supports that assumption. But what Hank discovers is a good person in a bad situation, as if being forced to marry a stranger weren’t bad enough. He resolves to help her and their relationship develops quickly from there.

I didn’t connect with these characters quite as much as the ones in the first book, The Vampire’s Mail Order Bride. (That could just be my pro-vampire bias showing, though.) I really did love Hank and his family—when I move to Nocturne Falls, I’m getting his Aunt Birdie to adopt me. I enjoyed learning more about his sister Bridget, who owns the town hangout, Howlers. I have a feeling she has her own book coming. And his brother Titus, the fire chief, is still something of a mystery that I hope gets explored later in the series.

I felt like this story was a little darker than the first one, with Ivy’s abusive father and his misogynistic pack. And the fact that there was a child involved made it even more serious. This book also had a lot more action, which I liked. But I felt like the Big Bad’s defeat sort of came out of nowhere, so the story ended more abruptly than I would have preferred.

It’s not really necessary to read The Vampire’s Mail Order Bride before starting The Werewolf Meets His Match. The stories are set about a year apart and both stand alone quite well. Book two does contain a few references to characters from the first book, but I don’t think there are any major spoilers.

What I’m enjoying most about the Nocturne Falls series is finding out more about this quirky little town with each new installment. I’m also really excited about the gargoyle hero coming in book three!

This is the second Nocturne Falls story and it is just beautiful. The story revolves around two wolf shifter people stuck in a situation beyond their control, and making the best of it. What I liked best about this book is that both characters are strong, intelligent and reasonable, which is like a signature thing for Kristin Painter. The plot is very interesting, very surprising in some places, and it is a real plot and not a story based on bad choices, which is also a common characteristic of Painter’s writing. It is very well written and it flows beautifully, I think it took me about 3 hours to read the book and it left me with a smile on my face. As usual, the supporting characters are very well developed. Nocturne falls is just a beautiful place that is so well described, it makes me feel like it is real and the story really took me there. In this book, as well as the first one, I felt sometimes like I am walking down the street in nocturne Falls or running through the woods or standing in front of a house. This series is lighter than other works by Kristen Painter and it is not a huge problem if you read it in wrong order. I definitely recommend it for the story, characters, atmosphere and mood improving quality. I am very much looking forward to more books. Hopefully, a lot more.

The Werewolf Meets His Match is book 2 in the Nocturne Falls series. I discovered this series because I started reading the Jayne Frost series which is a spin off from this series set in the same town of Nocturne Falls and features a lot of the same characters/townsfolk.

This book is about Nocturne Falls Sheriff, werewolf, and first born son of the pack alpha, Hank Merrow, and Ivy Kincaid, the daughter of the pack alpha for a rival pack. Ivy is sent to Nocturne Falls for a sudden arranged marriage to Hank. They are only told and meet 3 days prior to when they are to be married. Their marriage is also meant to secure peace between the packs but Ivy's father is a bad man and it seems he is up to something with this pairing.

I really enjoyed this book. I think I liked it even more because I've already gotten used to the town and the characters and met them before from the Jayne Frost series. I was already somewhat attached to them when I started the book. I can't wait to continue with the series.

The narration was good. I really liked the narrator's voice. He narrated book 1 also. The reading was a bit slow just like in book 1, so I sped it up to 2x and that was perfect. I hope he narrates more of the series.

*I was provided an ARC by the publisher/author for an honest review.*

First, I have to say that I am a huge Kristen Painter fan. I was hooked into her House of Comarré series through a Kindle daily deal, and since I have eagerly anticipated each book released. If you have not yet read the first book in her new Nocturne Falls series, "The Vampire's Mail Order Bride," treat yourself to reading it first so that you can savor each great story in this new series.

Upon finishing The Vampire's Mail Order Bride," I was greatly anticipating the next story in Nocturne Falls, and "The Werewolf Meets His Match" was worth the wait. The story is about an arranged marriage between two warring werewolf clans. Ivy and Hank were not prepared to like each other or fall in love. The story has the right balance of good boy and bad girl, sugar and spice, sass and love. I couldn't put it down. I wish Nocturne Falls existed, as I would love to visit! The character development is rich and I found myself smiling and laughing out loud at parts...especially Aunt Birdie's antics. Great lighthearted, uplifting reading.

Oh how I wish these weren't 5 bucks a pop! Another cute story that I'm in love with. For some reason because again this isn't anything I usually like to read. But I LOVED it!

Another fun read in an enjoyable series. This story was so fun and entertaining that I just flew through it. Centering, this time, on Nocturne Falls sheriff Hank Merrow and Ivy Kincaid, shifter, we had a slightly similar set up to book 1 in that Ivy comes to town as the daughter of another pack's alpha who has been arranged to marry Hank Merrow, son of the Georgia pack Alpha. As ivy's first meeting with Hank is from lock up after she is arrested for brawling at Hank's sister's bar, we know its going to be a bumpy but thoroughly entertaining ride.

I enjoyed the storyline, despite it being just a little bit predictable, with both main characters being very likeable and the rest of the peripheral characters being vibrant and quirky. I love the idea of this series and the tone is just right with the story not taking itself too seriously but staying a nice combination of light and fun but not too silly and I am looking forward to reading on in this series
