"So far a conservative wet dream. Every bat-shit insane conspiracy theory about Democrats is given full room to run free. While the 'good white people' (and one black Texan) arm themselves to fight back at 'these commie ragheads'.

Reads almost like a parody in a way."

Lexxi Kitty’s Recent Updates

Liberty's Last Stand by Stephen Coonts
"I picked this novel up from the library for some fast-moving, thriller fiction to pass the holidays. I read Coonts first novel in the first edition and I enjoyed Grafton's fictional career for several novels, so what the hell - this should be inte..." Read more of this review »
Liberty's Last Stand by Stephen Coonts
"I'm not giving this book 1 star because the story is boring or the writing is bad. I'm giving it 1 star because it is just plain sick and pathetic. Allow me to explain.

First of all, I am politically very conservative. On a scale of 1-10, I'm proba..." Read more of this review »
Liberty's Last Stand by Stephen Coonts
"I've read and enjoyed Stephen Coonts' Jake Grafton novels, but this is, sadly, unlike any of the others. This is a hate filled polemic.

I'm a Marine Corps veteran, a former peace officer - so not exactly a left winger but this book spews positions..." Read more of this review »
Liberty's Last Stand by Stephen Coonts
"This book's anti-Obama/liberal politics is obnoxious and takes away from what could be an interesting story. I've read a few other books in the series and while there was some minor political commentary, it was completely tolerable. However, Coont..." Read more of this review »

This might be the most competently written book I've read by this either. But ... there was some humor but not as much as normal. That or my loathing of Izzy Mortimer was such that the humor didn't translate as well.

Let’s see if I remember this one so long after reading it . . .

A mother has died, and her next-door-neighbor takes in the mother’s teenage daughter –at least until ‘what to do with ten-year-old [insert name here; Gordie? Bah, I can’t recall]’ is solv

I’ve rather enjoyed the baseball books I’ve read by this author, but, for whatever reason, haven’t had as much luck with the non-baseball books. This being one of the non-baseball books.

This is one of those prologues, then the rest of the story type

“Were you backing it up on the fridge?” [Jet]

“I was…uh…was…removing smudges with my butt. Did you forget something?” [Shawna]

“My laptop. I have a paper due Monday for English. I’ll just go get that now,” Jet said, still looking disconcerted as she left the room.

“I saw a smudge, and I rubbed my butt on it. That’s perfectly normal,” Shawna called after her.”

“[F]amily isn't about who is related to you by blood. It's about who will be there for you even when it is not easy to be. It's about who will be happy when you are happy. And it's about people who will be willing to put your needs before theirs, knowing that you will do the same for them.”
