Qualification: 6th book in Shadow Children Series
Page Count: 240
Finished: 6/10/17
Rating: 3 stars
Review: This series takes place in a dystopian future where severe droughts and famine have made population control the number one priority of the government. Laws making it illegal for women to have more than two children mean that countless third children are living in hiding. This book focuses on Matthias, an illegal third child who finds himself living undercover in the Population Police headquarters. This series is written for older elementary/young middle school students, so the prose is fairly simplistic and sometimes the author makes things fit too neatly together, but it's a good series for reluctant readers.

Review: I really enjoy this series, although I don't seem to be reading them in order. I really like both guys but I am rooting for Mike. I really thought the brownie incident was pretty funny. I wish I had thought of it. Overall, this is a book that I would recommend.

The hunt continues for the keys but Risa Jones is getting tired of everyone treating her like trash. She's the only one who can find the keys because her father helped create them. Now it's just a matter of who finds them first.

I'm really glad to have read this book. I read Shadow Kin awhile ago but it was a good refresher for me. I love Guy DuCaine and Holly Evendale! They're a perfect match and balance each other out.

This books starts off with one of the towns docs finally getting fed up with his 10 year relationship with Tris and ending things. He's only single for a few hours before Cameron steps in so no big deal there! Well, he's technically single for about a week but still.... If you haven't read the "Isle of Wight" series by this author then the other characters in this book will make absolutely no sense to you. I'd say to definitely read those books first. It was so wonderful to get the continuing stories of all three couples from those books. Now back to Jeff and Cameron. They didn't have nearly the craptastic time the other couples had so I'd rate them pretty low on the angst scale. A bit of a misunderstanding but nothing overly dramatic. Love getting to know all the characters surrounding these men. Will be moving on to the next on soonish.

Review: After suffering a devastating loss at the end of the first book in the series Lena is reeling and even the love of her boyfriend Ethan can make the world seem right. Saving Lena from herself leads Ethan on a journey through Caster tunnels where he finds things he thought he'd lost and learns much more about where he fits in this crazy magical world. I love the world that Garcia and Stohl have created, even if their characters get a little too teenager-y for me sometimes.

Review: It was exciting to come back to the world of Harry Potter, and I understand that since this is a play, the depth of character and world-building would not be as strong as the books, but this was disappointing. I think the thing I had the hardest time with was the discrepancy between the use of time-turners in the Prisoner of Azkaban and this story. I like closed loop time travel, where everything you did in past has already happened in the future, like in Prisoner of Azkaban. The time travel in this book does not follow that model, and it really bothered me. I still think this would be fun to see performed, though.

This read a whole lot like one of the cheesy Siren romances but the sex was so stinking hot, all is forgiven. We had a fireman who inherited a baby boy and little girl, the social worker in charge of his case and the brother of the woman who died. Yeah, sounds like the perfect makings of a smokin' hot menage, right? Okaaay then. Anyways, the story was cute but I'll forget about it by tomorrow....except the sex and especially the bonus chapter. Hello very flexible man!!

Qualification: book 8 in the Fated Saga

Completed: 6/17/17

Review: I love the peek into the past. It was very interesting to see how Fazendiin manipulated people and events to create the three immortal children. I feel bad for both Isabella & Juliska as they both had to lose a child for the prophecy to come true. They both reacted in different ways though and that shows their true character. I can't wait to read book 9 and see what happens as the Meghan, Colin & Colby follow their fate.

This collection of five daddy stories which includes happily ever afters and smoking hot sex scenes that leave you breathless. Ms. Hamel writing style sucks you in at the first page and doesn't let up until the last page.
Bonus Point~Book over 500 pages

I don't remember how the bonus points work but my book is over 500 pages also. I am just now starting it but I should have it done in time. My last two books dragged and took longer to finish. This series is one of my favs so I am expecting it to go quickly.

Review:This was definitely an interesting book. I think my favorite character has to be Havoc. She is hilarious! The Pixies definitely made the book way more interesting. Now as interesting as this book was, there were some inconsistencies. How did they figure out where her father was? They had no evidence, just gut instinct, and a pixie named Havoc. Her name alone would make me not trust her. I also thought Evie had to be pretty dumb. How do you live with them for 16 years and not know a damn thing about your parents? She was surprised that they had heard of her politician father (duh- politicians are in the news and not always popular) and then she was even more surprised that he was a demon slayer and NOT a politician. She didn't know her father's real job but she knew that she and her family could perform complex magic spells? The plot idea was interesting but some work was needed on the main character and the development of the plot.

Qualification: 2nd book in the Hattie series
Page Count: 240
Finished: 6/21/17
Rating: 4 stars
Review: After learning how to live independently while homesteading in Montana, Hattie has bigger plans than settling down to become a wife and mother. Making her way to San Francisco, Hattie chooses to follow her dream of becoming a reporter. The author has done a lot of research and it shows in the way she brings the post-WWI city to life. Even though this novel takes place before women had the right to vote, I think the author does a great job of presenting a young woman struggling with career ambitions and romantic desires that will resonate with teens today.

This was quite the epic journey we got to go on with Brandon and Jeremy. Jeremy was not a very likable character IMO. I don't know that I ever really loved him the way I did Brandon. Brandon was just all in, all the time and Jeremy was so closed off and terrified it was a little off putting. This is a journey of two college guys who have the same diving coach but completely different levels of dedication, experience and drive. Talk about both ends of the spectrum, complete opposites. However, I do think they worked as a couple both in the pool and in bed. So a 300+ page journey and the end? WTH? Don't worry, they're together with a HFN but seriously? Nothing about the next few days? And epilogue? Anything? Grrrrr!

Ravi is an outgoing, stylish artist with tons of friends and Tristan couldn't be more his opposite. Uptight, no friends, irons all his clothes (tried to iron Ravi's jeans) and makes spreadsheets for every aspect of his life. No way could these two ever work....oh, yes, they could. And boy do they. I love how they built up first a tolerance, then a friendliness and finally a romance. It was sweet and the bonding over both having craptastic families who refused to acknowledge they were gay was just icing on their little cake. Nice smexing, great friends, not too much angst and lots of spreadsheets. Loved this addition to the series.

Review: There is just something about this series that keeps drawing me in. I love the fact that they can change history for the better in their parallel version of Wales/England. I also love the little trips to "Avalon". I always find it interesting to read about modern people ending up in medieval times. Every person reacts differently to their changed circumstances so it really makes for an interesting story. I can't wait to read the next book and see how these new people transition.

Review: Luke has come a long way from being an illegal third child cowering in the attic on his family's farm in the first book of the series. We've met other characters through the seven books, but the conclusion comes back to focus on Luke. Working undercover at Population Police headquarters, he inadvertently starts a revolution, but overthrowing an evil regime doesn't mean smooth sailing. This is a great series for older elementary/middle grade students.

I'm so glad we finally got Maddox and Ben's book. I just knew they were going to be an awesome couple. Eventually. This was a friends to lovers story where you could really feel how much they truly need each other in order to function in any kind of healthy way. Classic story where both have feelings but neither has said anything...for 12 years! Seriously! I thought I would lose interest after they got together but that was not the case at all. They had so many hurdles and trust issues and differing views on what their lives should look like that it kept things interesting. Having your first sex together when both are fresh out of the hospital, awkward but still very hot. I got a bit teary a couple times which just makes things about perfect for me. Loved these two!!
