Just finished the We Have Always Lived in the Castle. A strange, twisted and weird story, but very good IMO.

A Legacy of Spies by John le Carré This is the final novel in the series involving George Smiley. It is narrated by Peter Guillam, longtime foot soldier and loyal adjunct. If you've read The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, then this is not one to miss.

Putin's People: How the KGB Took Back Russia and Then Took On the West by Catherine Belton. If you haven't noticed the news headlines about Russia, this is eye-opening.

Mediocre: The Dangerous Legacy of White Male America by Ijeoma OluoI liked it, learned a few things (even on, heaven forbid, football!), but she could have made her arguments stronger.

The Russia House by John le Carré - about the possible end of the Cold War.My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/3990224886
The last book I read was We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie . I liked the book and it was only 52 pages so it was a quick read. I have always liked Adichie as both an author and an activist. I gave the book 5 stars and would have written a very adoring review. However, I read in a couple reviews that she was transphobic and said that trans women don't deserve the same rights as cis women. Therefore, now I have mixed feelings about the author and don't know if I should read more of her works.

I just finished The Quiet American by Greene. I appreciated the historical perspective of the events that led up to the Vietnam war. It was also an indictment of American imperialism. I think it would have been more enjoyable if I hadn't read The Third Man first, because the plot is very similar.

After reading 11 John le Carré novels, I plan on moving onto 3 books by Graham Greene and reading them in chronological publication order. I'll be sure to space them out and maybe with ca different order.

A Concise Chinese-English Dictionary for Lovers by Xiaolu GuoThis was an East-meets-West and a coming-of-age tale about a young Chinese woman's experience studying English in the UK. Displacement, loneliness, and trying to fit in are elements common to migrant experiences on both sides of the Pond.

Hi! New to this group! The last book I finished was “Later” by Stephen King. I listened to it on a road trip, and it was a lot of fun! Personally I like to be reading a hard copy of a book, and listening to an audio book at the same time.

Listening to an audiobook while reading the hard copy has hurt something inside of me. The culprit is World War Z by Max Brooks. Girl I thought I was going nuts because this 12+ hour audiobook w/crazy production value skips whole paragraphs. I wasnt prepared for that and its completely put me off the story. I mean really. What kinda fixed parlor game are these ppl playing? Has that ever happened to you? How did you get back into the story after discovery? I feel confused and a bit deceived.
