Hullo buddy! We need to revive this iconic thread again. We? More like I am the one who needs to be a lil more organized.
Anyway, all is well here. What about you?

It is revived already with your esteemed presence now! You and organized? I won't hold my breath for that...
All good here as well. Suffering with giving in to gluttony..... Trying to chew more than I can bite :\ Silver lining being the currently reading list is loaded... but loaded with awesomeness :)
Realised that reading gets boring for me when I don't bring at least a new book every week.
See, a drop of a hint out of courtesy from you, and here I started rambling :P

What about me? Same as you, being greedy.
If you're talking about books, then I'm trying to clear my CR and fulfil my BR promises, so I can take a month's rest and read The Ministry of Utmost Happiness and after that The God of Small Things without any distractions :P
about other stuff, well, trying to sort out this thing called "life and career" -_-

Was able to clear a couple of them off my CR. Tempted to pick new ones but will hold on for now. That means hitting the pedal for Sapiens.
About the last line... well its evergreen, classic, eternal... never ends! All the very besht :)

We can BR Bapu's autobio next month?
Hooked badly to manga these days. 50% of my reading time goes to monster...
Have only read 2 volumes. The series has 18!

Whoops! I forgot about it. It will be great. Good idea buddy 👍
And now you have mentioned October, let's remember another legend that was born in that month.
Oh, no, no, no! Certainly no. You flatter me, Gorab😊. I ain't talking about me... I'm talking about our RKN dear. He was born on 10th of October. Let's read his autobio before his b'day, what say?

And we have already read his major works, so I don't think we will miss anything. Syl has read it thrice and she hasn't read all of RKN novels, so you know....🙃
I thought I'd need to persuade you for that short story collection (I was gonna use RKN-Mulk Raj-Raja Rao card, along with KS uncle. "But it has a story written by Sahitya Akademi Award winner, and not just any winner but Nehru Chacha's niece winner" was my trump card.)
Good thing you saved the work :P

If somebody had said to me two years ago that Gorab would read Manga/Comics (whatever) and fantasy books in future, I would have laughed at him...but now look at you 😱🙀

but they're tomes. he will run away after seeing those page numbers. should start with some other books which have less pages.
October:
I'm still not keen to do RKN's autobio. But looking at your enthu, will give in and join for that.
Satya ke Prayog will take more than a couple of months and My Diary should be within a couple of weeks.
No way I'm going to do a parallel autobio on two Indian men. Hopefully we'll be able to wrap up Satya well before 2nd Oct, and My Diary just before his bday.
Watsay?

No persuasion for any short story collections! I looked that book up during my KU subscription and found it very interesting. Skipped in in favor of a better story collection by Raja Rao and Full story collection by KS.
However, this mix would be better to taste all of them. In for it after Sapiens, when you'll parallely do Happiness :D

Forget fantasy, my history with series is also very bad...
LOTR, Hunger Games, Red Rising.... all left after reading just first part. Only series I've completed is Arthur Clarke's Space Odyssey 3 books.
Never imagined I'd pursue a series of 18 volumes.
Two yrs is a long time. Would I believe I won't read any book at all after a couple of years? Or would pursue Manju's fantasy shelf and recos in a couple of years :P :P Can't say.
I'm in exploration mode, confused about genres in general (including classics!) Happy to explore more :)

Why do you think, Gorab, that Bapu will take more than one month? 🤔
It's not political autobio, more like spiritual autobio....I think two weeks at most! Or do you think that his Hindi would be difficult?

And if you wanna read My Diary later, it's okay. But is it only because of "all of his books/novels first" or anything else?

We can start Bapu's autobio once we are done with Sapiens. Let's see how much time it takes... Let's wait for RKN's Diary. Want to make sure that you're equally excited and keen for it :) it's not going anywhere, wecan shall wait :)

Thanks Manu for recos!
Blurb is exciting. If Gorab is interested then we can BR sometimes, else I'll try to read it before the year ends :)

And buddy, I'm not sure I'll be able to read An Equal Music this year..or in the first half of the 2018. So, if you wanna go ahead and BR with Smi, then please do so _/\_
RKN antibiotics doesn't deal much with the chronology of his books. It deals more r with his early days in Madras and Mysore, his childhood, his struggle to become an author etc.
I found it wonderful .
☆☆☆☆☆ material.

Equal Music, as of now, no hurries. I too can wait. Provided the book doesn't suddenly beckon me, in which instance I may start reading asap as if my life depends on it. ;-)
So our tentative schedule is-
Gandhiji's autobio (from July first week)
Indian Short Stories (after the autobio) (possibly Mid-August/depends on how much time Gandhi dear takes.)
(view spoiler)
Okay, now do propose changes and corrections :)

Didn't know he too wrote an autobio!
Would be fun to know what he wrote about his brother! Did he write about RKN in his autobio?

Yes.. he has written about elder brother. Am not very sure whether I am correct, but what I remember is that he revered him and found him more of an adult figure to be respected , rather than a friend. And Narayan a has written about Laxman with more affection and closeness.
RKN was almost 16 yrs older than Laxman...so the huge gap could only provide the space for brotherly respect. Like when Laxman was in his teens, Narayan must have been dealing with his wife's death or single-handedly raising his daughter while trying to establish himself as an author 🤔
I think I'll read Laxman's autobio as well... That sounds exciting.
Gorab, check it - The Tunnel of Time: An Autobiography
When are we gonna read it? 😋👶

Thought of all his novels first. Because i see glimpses of himself in his characters. Would be fun to compare them while reading my diary. But it can go other way as well ;) to see the characters evolve in unread novels after knowing more about his life.
And yes very much interested for Laxman also.

KS Uncle.
I haven't read everything. Burial at Sea is lying on shelf unread. Short story collection on Kindle unread... What's that book name? You found out it was the complete collection. With a sparrow on cover....
There is Khushwantnama, malicious gossips and the likes....
But good to go for autobio first...
