Becky Benishek (becky_benishek) | 166 comments Carole P. Roman, your suggestion to try Story Monsters for an author spotlight worked! Mine just came out: https://www.storymonsters.com/book-br...

Thank you so much. I would never have thought of just asking if they'd consider doing one on me.

Valerie Sells | 50 comments What a wonderful idea for a thread - so nice to see so much good news!

As for me, in the last few days, my Amazon KENP/page reads have shot back up after a bit of a lull and I've had a couple more sales of my latest release as well. Made me smile anyway :)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments Sorry, Alex, I just had to laugh at your duplicated text! It's a bit like squirreling away a bit of good news for a later date which finally came yesterday when you got two lots of good news.

message 3568: by D.J. (new)

D.J. Cooper | 1028 comments Finally, I have something to contribute to this thread:

1) I finished writing The Illusion for the Bulwark Anthology.
2) I'm pleased with it.
3) Carole/Brit Lunden likes it.

Relief all round. I didn't think I'd make it to the 15k minimum word count.

In other news, I've got to write the blurb. (Oh bugger.)

message 3575: by Alicya (new)

Alicya Perreault | 90 comments Here's this week's good - not so good - all good again!
Last November I created a giveaway for a gift pack of my book and journal. The woman who won it loved it and contacted me earlier this month to see if she could buy 2 more gift packs.
I had never thought to sell the book and journal together but couldn't say no and she wired me the money.
The problem was I didn't have any spare journals so I quickly ordered a few copies with a delivery date of Jan 20th and I waited and waited.
When they didn't arrive by Jan 24th, I checked the global shipping company' tracking and it said the package had been dropped off at my door on the 19th......nope.
Called Amazon (the shipping company will not take calls from Amazon customers :( After finally answering all the questions such as "Did you look everywhere?" she said the package is declared lost and my money would be refunded.
That's great but I still had a customer who had prepaid and I still didn't have the books. Went through the process again to order the books and even with fastest shipping it takes at least a week but I was stuck so had no choice.
The next evening at 8:00pm a box arrived at my door.
My original order arrived!

phew!!!

message 3580: by Angel (new)

Angel | 723 comments Hi, everybody. I need to ask a question? I have been asked to ghostwrite an entire book for someone on Wattpad, a total of 20 chapters. I have done ghostwriting before and have even posted about my rates for ghostwriting and editing services. But this is for Wattpad should I charge what I usually charge, should I charge at all or negotiate another payment alternative like a gift card or something of that nature. Because I will be spending my time on this ghostwriting project and will have to stop most of what I am doing for my own books and I have just started publishing other authors plus doing advertising, promotion and marketing for other authors as well as myself. So that will have to be slowed down or come to a complete halt for the time being while I'm doing the ghostwriting for this person's book. What do you think I should do? Should I charge for my time on this?

D.J. Cooper | 1028 comments Good news Alex. About time you had some of that.

message 3592: by D.J. (new)

D.J. Cooper | 1028 comments Not sure if this counts for good news. I've been referred to neurology and have an appointment at a hospital I have never been to before in June. No doubt they will find nothing wrong with me and I'll still be dropping things, falling over nothing and slurring my words. But at least I have an appointment.

message 3593: by D.J. (new)

D.J. Cooper | 1028 comments Alex wrote: "I'm so glad you have an appointment with neurology. I really hope they figure out what is causing your problems and fix it for you."

Thanks. The GP was reluctant, "it's very specialist" was his opinion. He doesn't think they'll find anything wrong and I'll just be deemed clumsy. So be it, but I'd like to know for sure.

message 3594: by D.J. (new)

D.J. Cooper | 1028 comments Money. It's all down to money. I had to negotiate blood tests last year. I won, and two of my blood tests picked up something that wasn't right. But all this stuff costs the NHS money and they're reluctant to refer people. Took me a year to get a mammogram for an issue I found as I'm too young to have a routine one, yet breast cancer killed my mother. I should have insisted at the time, but I felt guilty for asking to use their technology.

I'm not sure what to hope for here, DJ. That nothing is found to be wrong (which means still no explanation) or something to be found so you have answers. I guess I will hope for the best of all possible outcomes for you, whatever that looks like.

message 3597: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman | 4665 comments Mod
Answers are always the best things- then you can start doing things to speed up recovery or have the tools to make thing easier. Hope it happens for you, DJ.

message 3598: by D.J. (new)

D.J. Cooper | 1028 comments Thanks Carmel. I am hoping for a diagnosis. Like Carole says, answers are best. Although I’m not sure I like the sound of my husband’s answer on my birthday recently when he said, “it could be anything... early onset Alzheimer’s...” I thought, Cheers mate!

message 3599: by Anna (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 1236 comments From what you say, D.J., it doesn't sound like Alzheimers, more like a neurological problem, so don't go worrying about the dreaded A., please.

Hope it's something that can be treated easily. There's a treatment for most things these days.
