Feeling a bit chuffed. My doctor ordered my book while I was at his office today and ordered another for his staff. It feels good that my family doctor supports my book on mental health. Validation I suppose, but it feels good nevertheless. Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Yeah what did you do to your back? Did you sleep on it awkwardly? Excellent news about D2D’s POD. About time that happened.
Alex wrote: "It's amazing. I have actually written something, almost 3k words in the last day and a half, though admittedly it is rewriting, rather than fresh material, because I've gone back to the start of on..."Despite your back, it must feel fantastic to be writing like that.
Hurray Alex - I know the feeling! This last week I have fiercely ring-fenced some time for writing (it's been easier because my husband is away, bless his cotton socks - there's fewer of them to wash and so on). So I have had more time but... like you, I had to go back and reread from the start to remind myself what the cast had been up to. I managed 3,000 new words this last week AT FLAMING LAST! I have about 5 hours next week when I can read it through and remove the rubbish and replace it with more rubbish. And it will be after Christmas before I can return to repeat that exercise. But still - it's progress! I now seem to have caught a bit of a cold. I think it's because I sit in my cage and bash away in another world (I'm in New Zealand at the moment with my wip) and I suddenly realize my feet and fingers are frozen, and the rest of me is steadily turning into solid ice. I bet there's a few northern hemisphere folks experiencing the same. (I turned the heating down because my hubby is away. I'm such an idiot.)
Thanks, Alex, and I know this isn't the holiday wishes thread but I do sincerely wish everyone in this group a wonderful time over the Christmas season whether you celebrate or not and oh how I wish you all an enjoyable year ahead tapping away or throwing it all up in the air - enjoy! And may something good happen to you on a regular basis. And keep passing around the good stuff, there'll be those of us reading it even if we don't get to reply!
As I'm fairly new to Goodreads, I'm wondering what the etiquette is for authors who receive reviews.I have hit the 'like' button but wondering if I should comment too especially since readers have taken the time to write some wonderful things.
Any advice?
Never comment on any of your reviews- that will get you sanctioned very fast from the Goodreads police- Don't even thank them.
You can comment on any books other than your own. You can hit the like button for a review on your books- but don't ever interact with them beyond that.

Excellent. Thanks Carole!
Connie Huddleston, who reviewed the book for Indie Advent Calendar sent me this message: Bonjour! Let's Learn French was part of a Jeopardy question last week! She said that a hint was the main character of the book, Louis l'Escargot.

What a great way to start the New Year, Alex! Bravo!
I've been accepted as a writer by the Medium publication "Curiosity Never Killed the Writer." (What a name!) I've submitted my first story to them, so we'll see how that goes. They have a much larger following than Lit Up, 35K vs 6.7K, so I'm hoping this will give me a boost. I'll let you know what happens once I have a sense of it.
Excellent - some good stuff here.As for me... computer is playing up, personalized Google has disappeared. It was there, two hours later it wasn't.
I'm hoping to post some good news soooooooooooon.

In terms of looking at things with fresh eyes the way Alex is, yesterday I decided to turn one of my children's stories that's been in my queue to get published into a middle-grade chaptered fic instead. I'm looking forward to seeing how it'll end up (I know you'll all understand this) as I'm expanding and shifting and letting the story burst into bloom. It's exciting even as I know it may well wind up that I change the opening and premise that I'm keeping at the moment.

Very nice, Carole. Wish it wasn't so tough to get things noticed out there.
What a gal! Goodness what energy! And such good responses to the questions. Thanks for sharing the info.
