Works for mini

We might not need all of the letters. That's a lot of books to read in a week. We should try to get the biggest words possible filled in, since they get us the most points

message 557: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 4428 comments I agree with Eni. :)

maria helena (mariahel) | 964 comments Melindam wrote: "I agree with Eni. :)"

So do I :-)

I think the most important thing is to finish the 19 books needed for the regular Uno cards (so that we get all the points there). I don't think that is impossible between all of us.

That could potentially give us 26 books for scrabble which is enough for three words with 7 letters, plus one word with 5 letters.

Kazen I'm planning on having a big reading weekend! It's going to rain tomorrow so I'm hoping to spend all that time curled up with a book or five. ;)

that's good.

Should we list each our read's characters and place, we might not post earlier during read finished-complete submission.

Melindam | 4428 comments My favourite ACs, besides "A murder is announced", are The Murder of Roger Ackroyd and Five Little Pigs.

message 590: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 1012 comments Melindam - I don't think anyone else has read it, but it wouldn't matter if they had - it's ok if two people read the same book for the regular uno cards. :)

Lil Book Harpy - I think my favourite AC is And Then There Were None. The first Poirot I think you can get for free, as it's out of copyright. Maybe more of the early ones are too - worth checking out.

Thanks Sarah,

Yes , I checked all freebies for copyright...
specially with free digital libraries - they put some geographical restrictions.

message 592: by Kazen (new)

Kazen The only Christie I've read so far is And Then There Were None, but I would like to try the Poirot novels at some point. I had no idea the early one/s were out of copyright - thanks for that tip, Sarah!

message 593: by maria helena (new)

maria helena (mariahel) | 964 comments Agatha Christie was one of the authors that made me fall in love with British mysteries/crime novels (a close second to Nordic crime for my favourite genre).

My favourite Christie books are And Then There Were None, Murder at the Vicarage, The Body in the Library, and The A.B.C. Murders. Murder on the Orient Express, Five Little Pigs, and The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side are also very good.

If anyone likes audiobooks, Dan Stevens did an absolutely excellent narration of both And Then There Were None and Murder on the Orient Express.

I highly recommend: The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, featuring Poirot. It is one of the most interesting AC books, with a surprisingly controversial ending. According to Wiki: "In 2013, the British Crime Writers' Association voted it the best crime novel ever. The classic mystery scholar, H. Hayward included it in his list of the most influential crime novels ever written." :)

Haha. I love how different everyone's reading taste is. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is one of my least favourite AC novels (although it was a long time since I read it so I might give it another chance). In general, I much prefer Miss Marple over Hercule Poirot.

Endless Night is said to be AC's own favourite, and is often said to be one of her best novels, and I really disliked it.

UNO CARDS UPDATE

We only need 4 more books to finish all the Uno cards! Awesome job team!

(Remember, book you've already started but not have time to finish before the deadline can be used in April, so no books are wasted!)
