Yes, I wanted to read it anyway. :) What is the deadline for it? Just askin' because I want to finish the March mini-challenge books first.

The books for all the March cards and the mini challenge needs to be finished by the end of the month.
We will get new cards and a new mini challenge for April.

It should work for the Mini-Challenge and:
0: Stand Alone
3: C: Hazel
5: C: Isaac
7: Title: Verräter (I read the German version - so the German title is the one to take, right?)
Reverse: MH read it 2013

Yes, we use the title of the edition you read, but we can only use the first letter in the first word of the title :-)

Not sure how it fits for the mini challenge (except for the scrabble part).
For the Uno cards it works for:
card 3 - book 3 in series
card 4 - place Isle of Lewis
card 5 - character Fin Macleod
skip - author Peter May

It should work for
0: Stand Alone
2: C: Magnus Tavish
5: T: I've....
6: A: Sophie Kinsella

okay, thx! was not that clear to me before :)

Mini challenge: Part 3 character Bill Caine = Bill Weasley from the Harry Potter books
Uno:
card 3 - character Seth Hazlitt
card 4 - author/character Jessica Fletcher
card 6 - character Seth Hazlitt

I definitely understand that you need something light to read after that one!

Yay! We're making such great progress on the mini challenge :-)

Now I am onto Shards of Honour for the regular March challenge & The Cuckoo's Calling by JK Rowling writing as Robert Galbraith for the Mini-one. :)

I can see why I kept putting off returning to the Brontës - I do prefer Austen. I know they are supposed to be unlikeable in Wuthering Heights, but really - this is not going to be something I reread!
Needing something to break up the gloom, I have a clutch of other books going at the same time that will only work for Scrabble, including one V title for a 7 - The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
I have the first Shopaholic book on hold at the library for part 1 or 3, if we still need it by the time it's available.

Ha ha, yes. I read a chunk this morning, then had to switch to something else for a palate cleanser. I'll head back in tomorrow. ;)

Sorry I have been so absent lately, haven't been getting much reading time in these days but hopefully going to have some more time the next few days!
If anyone knows anything that needs read by the end of the month for the mini challenge let me know and I'll try and get it done.
I hope everyone is doing okay :-).

I can understand your reluctance. "A love beyond the grave", HA! They are a hateful, pathologically obsessed bunch.

I resemble that comment (and it seems to be getting worse!) :)

Glad to know you are ok Ashley, just busy. The mini challenge is quite wide ranging, so anything you read (started after deadline on 15 Mar) will work for at least the Scrabble part.
Happy reading!

Currently on The Princess Bride by William Goldman
next two read in Planning :
1. Lightning Blade by D.N.Erikson
2. Devil's Night Dawning by Damien Black

Me, too! But I always find a way to justify it - but I need something digital, not on paper. But I need some mindless fiction for when I can't get into non-fiction. But I need some romance, because romance! Hehe.

We are almost done with part 1-3 for the mini challenge (yay)! Only 4 more books needed, and I think we got those covered with what is currently being read.
Has anyone got any ideas for words we can spell out for the scrabble part of the mini challenge? The letters we have are:
A x 1
B x 3
D x 1
E x 6
F x 1
H x 3
J x 1
K x 2
L x 1
M x 2
N x 5
O x 1
P x 2
R x 6
S x 5
T x 3
W x 1
Y x 4
Each word need to be minimum 4 letters long.

No problem! I'll do my best to try and clarify this (I'm sure you're not the only one wondering...)
We can only use the first and last letter in the team names. There are 24 teams, so we have 48 letters to use. They are:
A x 1
B x 3
D x 1
E x 6
F x 1
H x 3
J x 1
K x 2
L x 1
M x 2
N x 5
O x 1
P x 2
R x 6
S x 5
T x 3
W x 1
Y x 4
(i.e., we have one letter O, three letter T, five letter S etc)
We need to use these letters to form words. One example would be STORY.
To get points, we need to read books to spell out the word (one book per letter).
For spell-it-out, we can use the first letter in:
- Book title (can ignore a/an/the)
- Author first name or last name
- Character first or last name, or nickname
- Setting
- Series name
We can do as many words as we want to, but we only have the 48 letters listed above to work with. If we have done the word STORY, we cannot do another word that has the letter O in it (because we have used the only O in the list).
Does that make more sense?

And if use the word WATER, we have Sir Walter Elliott or William Elliot from Persuasion to cover "W" right away. Can the books we used for parts 1-3 used for the scrabble part as well or do they need to be additional ones?

They need to be separate books. (Books used for mini challenge can also be used for the regular Uno cards, but not twice for the different parts of the mini challenge.)
We can move books around, so if we have more books than needed for part 1-3, we can use the leftover ones for scrabble.

Place : Phoenix (card skip)

Works for:
#4 Green (#4 in a series)
card 3 - char trista
card 6 - char Spencer
card 7 - char Mona Vanderwaal
card 8 - char Emily
What should i read next? Part I of the mini-challenge is almost complete. Should i focus on the ones that are missing or just read whatever for the spell it outs?

I think we have enough books in progress to cover the last 3 spots, so read whatever you feel like for Scrabble. :)

-> HERSELF for 35 points + 4p bonus (7 letters)
-> HONESTY for 35 points + 4p bonus (7 letters)
-> WESTERN for 35 points + 4p bonus (7 letters)
-> MARRY for 25 points (5 letters)
but then we would be missing a few letters that i cant fit:
B x 3, D x 1, E x 1, H x 1, J x 1, K x 2, M x 1, N x 3, P x 2, R x 2, S x 2, T x 1, Y x 2

NYMPH for 25 points + 2p bonus (5 letters)
Then we have left over:
B x 3, D x 1, E x 1, J x 1, K x 2, N x 2, P x 1, R x 2, S x 2, T x 1, Y x 1

We need one book per letter in the word (so to get points for a 7 letter word, we need to read 7 books).
For each letter, we can use the first letter in any of the following:
- Book title (can ignore a/an/the)
- Author first name or last name
- Character first or last name, or nickname
- Setting
- Series name

That does leaves us very short of vowels! I've been searching this list Words without vowels but I don't see anything that would fit the letters we have left. :(
