R14: Team #16 ~ Read it and Weep

Very very sad news :( I hope it doesn't effect her writing but I don't see how it couldn't. Or maybe writing will help her get through some of the pain. It really pushes that we should live every day to the fullest because it might be our last. I did see the other day that she posted that they were getting through it, I think I was surprised by it all because on facebook he just posted like a week ago...

Yea that is what it sounds like. I wonder what happened.

The true hero to this story is (view spoiler)
How does an author make one care about a stick? How I ask you? Is it because this stick has been with her for many of the books or is it because it was starting to gain a mind of its own? (view spoiler)
Other than all that I feel like the pack is really growing now not because they had to by being on their own now but also because Mercy is making strides and changes she is definitely Coyote's daughter. I would also like to read more about underhill about the place and the person she is. I feel like since Aiden is still child like in many ways that him and Underhill will grow apart as he matures but she will forever be child like.
Mercy keeps making friends with the most unlikely of people which is good because most of the time she needs their help. I wonder who she will meet on her journey next.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

As one of the few people who gave up on the TV series..."
I wish I would have refused to watch the show until reading the books... I feel like the first book followed the tv series pretty well you are right though Lauren the book does tone down the sex. I have wanted to continue on with the book series since so many other have told me it gets better and Sookie gets stronger but I just do not like how she was in the show and I think this series is a lost cause for me. Maybe I can read these on audio book and that will help me get through enough and the series change enough that it makes me want to pick it back up.

This is another meh book. The first one was like this as well, I think if it has been a while since reading the book before it, it makes that much harder to remember everyone especially when it was just okay. I have found out while listening to audio books this makes it harder to understand what is going on if I don't remember the characters much. So now Jess is in this army and of course everything is not as it seems. In this one they are constantly running around. I loved the idea of this that is why I picked up the first one but this second book kinda left it lacking, I may try and reread this one along with the first book and perhaps then that will make it clearer but I remember the first time was a bit of a struggle, we will see. I still like the mechanical beasts I definitely want one of my own, not to attack me of course like they do in the book but maybe to just be around or guard me that would be nice.

Hope you enjoy it.

This book was borderline meh for me. Part of it is my fault because I have such a large gap in between reading book 1 which I remember enjoying and I remember random aspects of but no enough to really understand the things that were happening in this book until about the halfway point. As someone who liked Sabina in the first book, I didn't really love her character in this book. She did grow emotionally but something about her didn't make me love her or really root for her. I rooted for the people around her though. I loved Gighul her demon minion, I loved meeting Maisie, and I was hoping for things to move forward with Adam. Adam was absent from about 80% of the book so that was a bust. I remember loving the world building in the first book but I felt like it wasn't really expanded upon in this book. I'm interested in moving forward with book three and hope I won't take as large a break as I did before but yeah there was a bit of filler in this book which I didn't appreciate.

Review:
This is Stryker and Zephyra's story. Stryker has been one of the main villains of the series and Zephyra is a completely new character. Neither one of them is particularly likable. In fact, Zephyra is downright evil. As such, it is difficult to care one way or the other about their romance.
Nevertheless, this is a worthwhile installment as it develops some of the ongoing storylines involving secondary characters, including Ash and Nick, and introduces some new characters who are very intriguing.

Nick J Russo did a fantastic job narrating this audiobook. I enjoyed it and look forward to reading the next book since this one left off with a tentative HFN. I'd like more of a strong ending for the boys.

Romantic suspense with a second chances romance and paranormal elements.
The heroine, Taige, is a psychic but it is never clear exactly what her abilities are. She seems to be able to do just about anything (telepathy, telekineses, psychometry), which I found to be excessive.
Cullen, the hero, is a jerk and it kind of annoyed me that Taige caved with very little resistance after he treated her so badly when they were younger.
The suspense plot is rather predictable and it is easy to guess the villain. As this is the RS genre, Walker needs to put less focus on the sex scenes and more on the plotting.

Hope everything is good Danielle.
I will be traveling tonight so I might not be on to post much the next couple of days but I will keep an eye out when I have time. Going to mall of America, so lots of fun.

Rocki have fun, heard its a blast & the photos always look good.

I am glad I continued on, I really liked the audio version of this she did the voices kind of different which made it interesting to listen to. Also this one is a whole lot different than the tv series. She is more feisty and not in a bitchy way but more in a I'm not just going to sit here while you walk all over me kind of way, even with Bill she stands up for herself. It definitely did not portray that way in the tv series. I feel like that with out all the sex that was clogging up the tv series that the book really shines through when that isn't what it is all about.

Hope everything is OK, Danielle!

This was just okay for me. I think I would have liked it much more if I read it when I was younger. Unfortunately the author's hateful words towards the LGBT community soured my enjoyment of this book. It had a the same feel of Armada and Ready Player One with the whole video games mixing with real life.

Review:
This was excellent! Both my husband and I enjoyed this audio book on the road to and from our trip. We heard it was getting turned into a movie and I heard good things about it before that so we had to give it a go. It also helped that it was about video games which made him want to read it even more. Everything was described so well I could picture it very clearly, I know sometimes that is a turn off but in an audio book it did wonders I bet even reading it would have been the same. Everything in this book ended up being connected to some way in the end. I liked how cocky Artemis is and Wade didn't bother me either he played it smart though I can understand why Artemis broke it off with him because he was not having his head in the game. Shadow's Claim by Kresley Cole
Finished: February 7
Rating: 4 Stars
IAD is another series that has been stagnating on my TBR for a while now. Although Cole's world building is detailed and immersive, her characters sexy and snarky, and her stories entertaining, the series lost its charm at some point and the recent installments ended up being passed over again and again for other reads. Well, it seems that absence has made the heart grow fonder and reading Shadow's Claim now has reignited my appreciation for the series.
While the tournament plot is exciting and actions packed, and the romance between Trehan and Bettina's is intense with incredible chemistry, there are one or two minor problems with the book.
First, it includes a trope that I dislike, i.e., Bettina believes herself in love with another man even though it is obvious he is all wrong for her. Moreover, she constantly chooses him over Trehan despite the fact that he is an amazing hero willing to do anything to win her.
Second, the book is overly long. It is unnecessarily drawn out with a number of superfluous scenes that could have been shortened or eliminated entirely.
Nevertheless, this is a fun read and the cameos by Nix, Lothaire and Sabine are an added bonus. Looking forward to continuing with Lanthe and Thronos's book next.

My son was born three months early on my birthday on November 10th so the NICU has been the new normal in my life since then. He got transferred two hours away for a procedure so the driving and trying to be back at work can get a little hectic with still trying to see him but I'm making it!
I'll be posting my reviews for the last two weeks tomorrow!

Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris

Review:
As one of the few people who gave up on the TV series after season one, I had decided to forego reading the series. However, I have enjoyed Harris's Lily Bard and Harper Connelly books so I decided to give Sookie a chance.
Happily the book does not share the oversexed tone of the show, and the story, the setting and the characters are much more entertaining.
Sookie is a particularly likeable heroine and it is easy to sympathize with her plight and identify with her need to connect with another person. Unfortunately, Bill, despite his seeming perfection, does not really come across as the most suitable candidate. While he is charming, attentive and caring on the surface, there is something, nevertheless, insidious about his personality and behavior.
The murderer's identity was known to me from the start, and as such the tension and suspense of the serial killer plot were diminished. That said, the small town setting and secondary characters more than compensate for this knowledge, and it still fun reading as Sookie attempts to solve the mystery.
I do look forward to continuing with the next book, which has not been spoiled for me by watching the show.
