Just completed a series (Belmont Mansion series by Tamera Alexander) - A Note Yet Unsung by Tamera Alexander. Overall, this book was entertaining and light-hearted - exactly what I needed the last few days. I still find Alexander's prose a bit too simple and repetitive, but overall, I enjoyed the plot and characters. The fact that her website has audio clips of the music from the book is a nice bonus! Worth reading. 3.5 stars

Just started (and will not continue) a series - The Defense by Steve Cavanagh. My main issue with this book was that it is not legally accurate. Also, while the first half of the book seems to correctly display the required zealous advocacy of the criminal defense attorney, the latter half criticizes that constitutionally-required defense. As a criminal defense attorney, this was offensive. The writing was decent and the concept interesting, but due to the foregoing, I will not read any of Cavanagh's other books. I received this book as a giveaway. 2 stars

Just completed another book - King's Cage by Victoria Aveyard. I'm really enjoying how this series is progressing! The first book seemed to be cobbled together from similar YA dystopian fantasy novels. But the second and now third books have matured the characters and storyline into something much better! Definitely worth reading! 4.5 stars
