When I try to enter in 52 books for this years challenge it won't let me put anything in? It says user shelf name not entered?

Hey there!I think I read somewhere that we were supposed to follow the same order of categories for each week. As in, that week 1 has to be a book from the GCA 2016 and that week 26 has to be an adventure book. But, it looks like everyone is following an order that feels most comfortable to them. So, I feel slightly silly now and want to know how exactly this challenge works.
Thanks! :)
Nitika, you can follow the challenge in any order you would like. You can read out of order or take longer than a week to read a book. The challenge is simply to finish all 52 prompts in one year.

I noticed on the abc folders where the book I'm reading others have read. In the title of their name it says what they rated the book. Does goodreads automatically put the star rating or do we need to enter that once we finish reading the book?
I'll add a precision: Goodreads automatically adds the ratings but only if "This topic is about" is completed when creating a topic ;)
Group challenge progress bar.I am having trouble updating my group challenge progress bar. I have created a shelf in my books, but am having difficulty copying and linking it to my profile.
I admit that I am a complete luddite and need help.
Gaynor > you need to enter the name 52-books-in-a-year-2017 and enter the number of books you want to read for the challenge (usually 52). If you have a message error, it's best to try again later.
Technically, you can use HTML code for the checkmarks but you can also directly copy and paste them. I usually copy/paste one and then just keep using the same one throughout my plan. That works for any of the symbols (i.e. stars).

Question about the author map: I am currently reading a book of 10 short stories by 10 different authors. Should I put all 10 authors on the author map? And if i do, should they be listed with the book title AND the story title?
17. A book with illustrations- what counts? Do nonfiction books that have pages of pictures in the middle count or do the illustrations need to be throughout?
If you have a look at the suggestion topic, it is quite clear that as long as your book has illustrations (pictures, drawings, photos, etc.), it counts!

Yeah, those are all pretty interspersed with illustrations not just in the middle, I'll read an exhibit catalog!

Amy, I know I'm late in answering your question, and you've already posted this book of short stories. I would say posting either the editor or the contributors is fine. If the book had had a ton of stories by different authors, it might be more cumbersome to add all the contributors individually. When I post them on the map, I'll just reference the book and not include the specific short story title. Thanks!
I have seen somewhere that you can put a little picture of the group with a link to this group in your profile. But I didn't do that immediately and now I can't find it anymore, can anyone tell me where I saw it or tell me how to do that?
Pink are primary locations, blue are secondary locations (for books set in more than one place). Orange are for fantasy places and yellow for space settings.

I'm having difficulty getting the ATY progress bar to work for me. After reading all the instructions and posts also asking for assistance, I'm still at a loss. (help?)
Lynn > you have to enter "52-books-in-a-year-2017" as the name of the shelf and set the number of books you want to read for the challenge (usually 52).As I see, you're in the list for people having the progress bar but with 0 books checked when you have read 3. If your shelf name is the right one, use the "leave challenge" link when you edit the challenge bar ("update my entry") and try to create a new one.
Zaz wrote: "Lynn > you have to enter "52-books-in-a-year-2017" i..."Thank you Zaz, I was pulling my hair out. When the instructions said copy the name of the shelf, I was literally copying the name of the shelf rather than typing it in. Normally don't have this much trouble with something maybe its the migraine. Yes, l will blame it on the migraine. :) It is working now.
For people who want to be strict in the prompts, the prompt for week 15 says: A book written or set in Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Iceland). But officially Scandinavia is only Norway, Sweden and Denmark (without Svalbard, Jan Mayen and Greenland).
Question: since I'm going to use my wild card for week 10 since I'm having so much trouble getting in to the book I picked for that one challenge where can I find the challenges that didn't make it or can I use a different challenge like a challenge from popsugar reading challenge 2017
If anyone is still looking for a book by an author of color, I ran across this article from CBC Radio: http://www.cbc.ca/books/2017/02/black...
Elizabeth week 11 is a topic from another challenge right? Have you thought of adding in a Gilmore book?

But thinks for the help anyway.

Question: Is there an explanation of why a book that is on my shelf and is marked as read, shows up in the number of books read but the book jacket is not shown? It says I have read 12 books, but only 10 are pictured. Though it might be something I need to do differently.
thanks,
Michele

It's even easier than that. On the main page for the group on the right hand side under the banner is a search bar. Type the title of the book or author name and hit search. Then click 'topic title only' and search again to get the thread.
Is there an easier way to find if a book as been shelved in the A to Z section? When I use "Search Discussion Topics", I often find a books title in a reading plan, but I have never seen it addressed as being an A to Z section. So then I go the the letter...S for example...10 pages of posts! I look in the right side bar. Not ten pages of titles listed there. So I search all 10 pages...my book is not there. So I add it. However, I feel defeated before I begin. I know that in the past, I have not added books simply because I was overwhelmed by the search. Surely, there must be an easier way. Help!
Zaz wrote: "Valerie, you have to click 'topic title only' after launching the search."I will give it a try. Thank you.
A definition of a historical figure is "a famous person in history", so somebody who was well known in the past. I didn't know who Julia Child was, but reading her wiki page, I'd say she counts. But I'm generally quite flexible with how prompts are filled, some people might be more strict and only choose a historical figure that most people would know about. It's up to you to decide how strict you want to be for this one, like any other prompts in the challenge ;)
