Need help wight he Hugo Award. I tend to read YA and Childrens books the most and Chickl Lit. Can someone recommend a good book for this category that is shot and fast read.

I'm thinking of possibly reading Binti, which is a novella with a female protagonist.
^ I second Ender's Game. And alternatively, the Lois McMaster Bujold books are fun, fast easy reading by a female author.

Laura - I think Connie Willis does a type of time travel that is very literary and not too heavy on the science fiction. I hope you enjoy it.
^Just an FYI Laura. I haven't read Blackout yet (and its on my 2017 plan) but its part of a diptych with All-Clear. It was split into two books to print and they shared the Hugo.I'd recommend To Say Nothing of the Dog which is in the same series and also won the Hugo. Mainly because I can guarantee that it stands alone and is absolute top notch. (All 5 books in the series have Hugos!)
Not sure if this is the place to ask, but are we still doing a book of the month next year? Sorry if this was already mentioned somewhere, but I've looked around and haven't seen it.I had fun with the group reads this year. I participated in almost all of them (the last one just wasn't for me, but I did all the others).

thanks for the ideas, this is hard one for me... maybe i will tryFahrenheit 451 it sounds good. I have to admit its bad that I can't think of things when I am a librarian. I guess its just the topic is not my choice. It is also sad that I may not even be able to complete this challenge, I try to use books for more then one challenge but does not always work

Ooh I hadn't thought to look in this thread, I was really struggling for a Scandinavian book but The Core of the Sun sounds really interesting! Come on 2017, I want to start this challenge now!
Does a collection count, a collection of comics in one volume?
Ginger > you can use graphic novels (full volumes, not monthly issues) for the challenge if you want. For the collection category, you'll need one with various stories rather than a full volume of issues (something like "Through the Woods" by Carroll or "DC Comics: The New 52" by various authors would work).

This book takes place in Kabul, featuring a girl who lives as a boy, and might meet some challenge's requirements. It's 19$ OFF TODAY, so it's only 2 bucks atm! Yours, Jen from Quebec :0)
I recommend the Engelsfors trilogy for a book set in Scandinavia (Sweden).
Do you have to follow it in order from 1 to 52 or can you start at any number??

It is ok to include anything you can read! Graphic novels, picture books, short stories, etc.

Is there a way to see your own 2017 plan at the top of the discussion category so you don't have to search through everyone else's list to find your own?
Sadly no. But you can put a bookmark in your browser, or a link in your profile description.

Just on the top right corner of any comment box, click on "some html is ok" and you'll have all the info to put links :)

No problem. I'm fluent in html, so I just need to dig in my memories to find the right code. I'm not sure how it'll work when we'll change the group avatar, so maybe you'll have to change the link for the image later (if it changes, we'll update the image on the group photos).

I am 8 short on the 2016 ATY 52 challenge but I decided to move forward with 2017. I may use some books in both 2016 and 2017 challenges to close it out.

I'm doing that too, Helen and then just marking the date I actually complete the 2016 challenge. The summer royally ****** up my completing my challenge. Much to my dismay. :-(((
I feel like I'm cheating doing it this way but there were many categories I wanted to finish and never got to...I read the most in the winter. Praying I have the focus to finish this years. It's still fun all the same though.
There is no cheating, it's all for fun here! Don't feel pressured.
Yay I'm excited for this years 52 books! I joined two years ago but wasn't active on GR last year so I'm excited to start off the new year right! Where do I put my progress for each book I read?
