Ray - you're bookless at the moment, right? Go ahead and pick up a Time book and have at!
Kazen wrote: Ray - you're bookless at the moment, right? Go ahead and pick up a Time book and have at!"I totally am bookless. I'll start on Time Cat! :)
Goodnight all!
Hi Caly, welcome to the team!I'm a bit lost, so can anyone tell me what books we are trying to find?
Thanks a ton!
Sam - sure thing! You do have one book for Event One - King Lear. The next event we're planning is Five, as everyone needs to have one book in it. It would be much appreciated if you have a book that's considered "harder", that way we'll be able to finish the whole event more quickly and easily. Details here. :)
Sam wrote: "Kazen, Does this count as a person on cover?

Also, what is our Team Colour?"
Team color is a super easy task... I bet you can find a book for a trickier task than that. ;)
I'm going to double check the rules about people and get back to you on that one.
For the book with a wheel on cover, I have a couple but I'm not sure which ones will count. My top choice is
If not, will any of these work? :

"Your first choice looks good! I'll put you down for it on the spreadsheet. But remember - don't start it until we finish Event One, Heat One! :)
eta: I see that you are all done with your Event One books, congrats! Feel free to start a different book while you wait - it won't count for Olympics but we'll be able to use it for Wheel. :)

OK, thanks:)
Guys, I just realised I have Size 12 Is Not Fat which will work for #12 on the cover. (I already have a book in chariot, incase nobody else has a book for this description, I can fill it.)
I also have the book Size 12 is not Fat. I could take that one. I haven't had a chance to look at books yet, but since Pragya has a book already...just offering :-)
You're in Heat 1 for A Trail Through Time. :) Have you had a peek at the spreadsheet? It's got a lot of pages, but the "E1 planning" is where we're working right now. :) Thanks! The spread sheet helped a lot! I am beginning to catch on how this works now.
@Lory Are you coming to Knoxville for a specific reason? And where are you coming from?
@ Sam Thanks for the welcome!
The book I am currently reading
is #4 in a series that I think is absolutely awesome, so I am really enjoying it. Unfortunately with the holiday I had a hard weekend at work so not much reading, but I will have it finished in a few days, easy..
Completion Post
Broken Promise by Linwood Barclay
Date read: 04-July-2016
Number of pages: 464
Heat 1, Leg 3-2
I am so late with this but "Welcome Caly"!! It is so great to have you join our team. I would have posted sooner but real life and work keep getting in the way of my goodreads time !!I cannot find any books that fit the Chariot theme so I am so grateful to Tammie for posting
. Kazen - please put me down for that one for the Tool task Event 5. It looks like a fun, easy read :)
Thank you Margaret and Karin! I am happy to be here. And Margaret I know what you mean about real life getting in the way of reading. 8-) But I have to make money to buy those books somehow! LOL
Another Chariot Idea for those who want to check out Library or Overdrive...I don't have any of these on hand, but could pursue them as well: 12:
Twelth of Never, James Patterson
I searched Goodreads...there are several 12 days of Christmas books and quite a few other good choices
I started looking for books about blacksmiths but have run out of time...
Rose wrote: "Finished

Holy cow, it wasn't a short book, either! Great job :)
eta: It looks like you've finished your Event One books, congrats! Have a look at the Event Five planning spreadsheet and let us know what category you'd like to fill. :) You can start another read if you like - it won't count towards Olympics but if you're like me it will help keep you sane! ;)
Ella wrote: "finished
Nothing but Trouble by Trish Jensen"
That cover is so fitting! Dangerous, indeed....
Ella wrote: "I could read
for a ROPE in event 5"This looks like excellent rope to me! I'll fill in the spot for you in Event Five... don't start the book until we get through Event One, Heat One, though!
It looks like you've finished all your Event One books - feel free to start a book (that is not this rope book!) if you like. We won't be able to use it for Olympics but we will be able to bank it towards Wheel.
Lory wrote: "I also have the book Size 12 is not Fat. I could take that one. I haven't had a chance to look at books yet, but since Pragya has a book already...just offering :-)"Lory, this would be awesome, thank you! I have you down for this book in the spreadsheet. It looks like you have two Heat 2 books left... not as much time pressure, but no rest for the wicked! ;)
Caly wrote: "Unfortunately with the holiday I had a hard weekend at work so not much reading, but I will have it finished in a few days, easy.."Ah, the joys of working retail! I hope your 5th (and 6th, and 7th) are restful and full of books :)
Margaret wrote: "I cannot find any books that fit the Chariot theme so I am so grateful to Tammie for posting Hammer & Nails by Andria Large."I'm envious - this book looks like so much fun but it's not at my elibrary! I'll just have to enjoy it vicariously through you. ;) I'll mark you down for it on the spreadsheet. It looks like you don't have any more books for Event 1, so feel free to fill in with a... uh... filler read... until the other events open up. It'll go towards Wheel instead of Olympics, but a book's a book's a book!
Tammie wrote: "Finished 7/4
Kiss of a Demon King, Kresley Cole"
Nice work! I've never read any Kresley Cole - would this series be a good place to start?
I have you down for one more Event One book. :) If you could take a look at the Event Five tasks and find a book that would be awesome, too. :)
Tammie wrote: "I started looking for books about blacksmiths but have run out of time..."I remember seeing a Harlequin cover recently that had a blacksmith on the front, working at an anvil... shirtless. Can you say ow? ;)
Sam wrote: "Kazen, Does this count as a person on cover?
"Sam, I got the okay for this book! Would you like to use it for Event Five?
Brianna wrote: "I can read
(this is the cover of the edition I own) for ANIMAL in Event 5"Brianna I'm so sorry but I don't think this one will work. They want (close to) a whole body... just a head can't pull the chariot. :(
It's an amazing book, though... maybe you can read it for Page Jumping instead. :)
eta: Here's the clarification from the rules:
must show full body. If a small part is hidden that is acceptable, but you can not have a cover with just a head on it and the rest going off cover.
Karin wrote: "I can read
for open landscape for Event 5 if no one else has been assigned."Sold! :D That's just about the perfect open landscape if you ask me. :) Good luck with the rest of your Event One books - I hope they've been good ones!

@Kazen I finished one book for heat two, Right Hand Magic (post 1038, I don't know how to reference an earlier post). I am hoping i can read the other 2 in the series for one of the other challenges!I am currently reading Moon Music about 1/4 of the way through. It's alright, but not my favorite. I should be able to finish tomorrow though.
Perfect for Size 12 is not Fat! I love Meg Cabot and have always wanted to read this book, but never got around to it. So I am definitely glad it works and fits for the challenge.
@Caly I am traveling to Knoxville for work. I install scientific instruments and train laboratory users on how to use them. I am actually going to be at Oak Ridge about 2 weeks from Monday. Anything thing I should definitely try to do or see in the few days I am there?
Brianna wrote: "Okay I also have
"Wonderful! ...and a bit scary, hehehe. I have you down for one of the animal covers. This book will be for after we finish Event One, Heat One. It looks like you have a book there, too - I hope it's going well. :)
Lory - thanks for catching my goof! Everything is right in the spreadsheet now. Page Jumping looks like it's going to be a catch-all event so you might be able to fit another series book or two there :)And I love it when "I always wanted to read it" and "challenge" intersect! Hehe.
Kazen wrote: "Wonderful! ...and a bit scary, hehehe. I have you down for one of the animal covers. This book will be for after we finish Event On..."Yes I'm halfway through my book for Event One. Should finish before the night is over
If all the hard category ones are taken I found one for 12 letters and/numbers in title. Would
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley work? Since the animal has to be a full picture the art of dancing in the rain wouldn't work.
Riah wrote: "If all the hard category ones are taken I found one for 12 letters and/numbers in title. Would
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley work?"Totally works! All in one word too... I would give that bonus points but I don't get to decide those sorts of things. ;)
I'll put you down for the 12 character task in the spreadsheet. It looks like you have one book left for Event One, Task One - may it be a fun and quick read! ;)
Great! Thanks :) I have always wanted to read that classic anyways. And yes one more book for event 1. It isn't very complicated, or a book that takes much thought lol! Should be finished in no time.
Kazen wrote: "Tammie wrote: "I started looking for books about blacksmiths but have run out of time..."I remember seeing a Harlequin cover recently that had a blacksmith on the front, working at an anvil... sh..."
Yes...I can read that one if no one else has found tools on a cover.
Let me know if you need me to read anything else for this round...

I'll let you know when I get home and can fiddle with the spreadsheet. I love today's hospital - everyone is so nice! - but it's in the middle of nowhere :P. It'll be a few hours before I'm home.
Pic I took just now waiting for the bus in front of the hospital:
