Red Pandas
I found two books that I could add to that chain, Right Hand Magic (289pgs), Wild magic (262 pgs and I read before, long time ago), That Old Black Magic (360pgs) and Moon Music (520pgs)If any of those help. There is a lot that end in Moon and start with Magic...ugh.
Lory wrote: "I found two books that I could add to that chain, Right Hand Magic (289pgs), Wild magic (262 pgs and I read before, long time ago), That Old Black Magic (360pgs) and Moon Music (520pgs)"I added in one of these and one of Tammie's that chains to it. Or you, Lory, can do Moon Music at the end and Right Hand Magic at the beginning. :)
We should probably try to use this one for the 7, because Sam, Annabeth, and Riah are on it.
??? - .......Three
Annabeth - Three Parts Dead
Lory - Dead Wrong
Kazen - Wrong Man, Right Kiss
Riah - Kiss Kiss
Tammie - Kiss of a Demon King
Sam - King Lear
??? - Lear......?
I'm going to bed for the night, bit of a headache coming on. But I'll wait until morning and see which book is the best to read during my drive.
Hmmm, what do you guys think about this?Annabeth already has a book in another chain, so we could make Dead Wrong through King Lear our five. The other chain is proving easy to link, so I think we could expand that out to our seven. I'll update the spreadsheet to see how it looks :)
Lory wrote: "To Complete my completion post:-)Dead Wrong

And I'm definitely searching, just give me a word and I probably can find so..."
Thanks for being so fast and flexible - we'll knock this out in no time!

Alas. :/

Spreadsheet is looking good! :D We've almost got them all filled in, yay!
ETA: Not sure if this was clear or not, but I can find a book to fit just about anything and don't mind reading something 100-200 pages even if it's not great, just to check off something we need. :D On that note, I found a couple "treat" books and a "music" for Heat 2, Leg 3 if no one else finds something. Off to (hopefully) finish up Keep Me Posted. Will check in on my iPod a bit later.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
My book was great in the beginning but got worse as it went along... but read quickly even when it was awful, hehehe.

Read 7/3
Heat 1, Leg 2-2
Annabeth - that was probably for the best! Things shifted and Three Parts Dead was moved to make room for a teammate that didn't have a book in the event yet, so you can outright skip it if you would like. :D
We have one 3 chain left to finalize as well as the last book of a 7 chain, if you'd like to hunt in that direction. For latter we could use a book ending in TREAT or beginning with MUSIC, if you'd like a place to start looking. :)

It's been quiet around here but that's okay - it's the sound of people reading! How are everyone's books going?
The Event One chains are filling out - we only have a couple left to go. Details on the spreadsheet, but we only need one more book on a 7 chain and a 3 chain to fill all the slots. If you have a book you can read that either ends with TREAT or begins with MUSIC let us know!
Last Chain update!
We can use books that start with TIME for our last chain now, woo! The following two books have been proposed, but they may be hard to link off of.
Time Between Us
Time Was
If we can find someone willing to read a book starting with US or WAS we have a chain. If you have a TIME book still let us know - we're so close to finishing this thing! :)
Now that the first event is mostly planned it's time to think about the other required events, even though we can't start them yet. Event Two is Page Jumping and doesn't require much strategy to start. On the other hand Event Five, Create a Chariot, is exact and will require a bunch of planning.
The idea is this - build a chariot using "parts" from book covers. As a cover event it's important to make sure we post the covers of the actual editions we're using to make sure they work.
17 books are needed to make our chariot and there are 15-ish of us, so we all need to grab a book to start. Some of the categories are quite tricky so I'm thinking we could concentrate on those first, now that we have the time to search for things that work. That way when time gets short we'll be able to throw books into the simpler tasks if need be.
So! Here are the tasks, with the most tricky/worrisome ones at the top. It's time to start hunting!
Trickiest
↪ Read TWO books with a Tool(s) on the cover (hammer, saw, ect...)
▲ Tools must be tools that you can BUILD a Chariot
↪ Read ONE book with Rope on the cover
↪ Read TWO books with a Wheel(s) on the cover - 1 - Caly - 2 - Pragya
▲ Wheels must be "a circular object that revolves on an axle and is fixed below a vehicle or other object to enable it to move easily over the ground" and of a size that can SUPPORT the Chariot/Driver
(wheels off a car, bike, wagon.... are ok; a ferris wheel or roulette wheel are not)
↪ Read ONE book with a Knife or Dagger on cover - Kate
↪ Read ONE book with the number 12 on the cover (can be spelled out, in title counts)
Medium-est
↪ Read ONE book with a large open landscape (plains) on cover
↪ Read TWO books with a title that is exactly 12 letters/numbers
Easiest
↪ Read FOUR books with an Animal(s)/Creature(s) on cover
Any animal that could pull a human is allowed, even mythological.
Examples: dragons, dogs, lions, bears, unicorns.....
▲ Creatures must be of a size that can PULL a Chariot
↪ Read TWO books for Team Colors (may be same color)
Must choose from Olympic Rings colors (Blue, Black, Red, Yellow or Green).
Color must be at least 60% of cover, using Color Extract at TinyLabs
↪ Read ONE book with a person (full body head to foot) on cover
~Remember, we can't start books for other events until Event One, Heat One is complete.~ We can read for Heat Two, though. Any books that don't qualify for Olympics can be put towards Wheel.
Kate wrote: "I'd look a book for the Heat 2 chain :)"Excellent, thank you! Let us know what you find. :D
I'm only 30% through my book:( I'll be traveling today so I may finish it in the plane. I'll take a quick look at my books to see what fits with the cover descriptions right now!
No worries Pragya - that's why we put you in Heat Two! I'll set up the planning spreadsheet while you search :)
I already poked around in my books for chariot books & have a lot--#12, person, knife, animal, color. And if a paintbrush counts as a tool, then I have a tool too. Didn't check for a landscape or 12- character title yet. So I'm good to choose a spot later on after others have jumped in. :)In other news, finished:

Moderators of NBRC wrote: "Please welcome new team member Caly !"Huzzah, welcome Caly! Have a look at the first page of the thread, and posts under big images in the last couple of pages. Don't drive yourself crazy with the whole thing - that time is much more enjoyably spent reading books! ;)

PS - And yeaaa another finished book! Holy cow that was fast, hehe.
Caly's first book is A Trail Through Time, so anyone that's up for reading a Heat One book, we could use one that starts with TIME. :) Update post above has been, uh, updated.
Moderators of NBRC wrote: "Please welcome new team member Caly !"@Caly!!! I know you from SB. How exciting! Welcome :D:D
I can read another for time with Caly.
I'm pretty much finished with kiss kiss. And as for the chariot part of the next event, Ferris wheels I'm asuming counts?

Yea books!
This book works great for time, but I'm a bit worried that it will be hard to get another book off the end using "us" to link. :/ Maybe we'll wait a little bit to see if someone can make that link or has a time book with a slightly more usable word?
And sadly no, ferris wheels do not count for wheels. :(
Good morning!A lot of activity, just checking in to see if there is a book for me to read. Sorry that I can't check the spreadsheet, stupid phone. My guess is that I'm reading Moon Music, correct?
Lory wrote: "Good morning!A lot of activity, just checking in to see if there is a book for me to read. Sorry that I can't check the spreadsheet, stupid phone. My guess is that I'm reading Moon Music, correct?"
Yup! Moon Music and Right Hand Magic. These are Heat Two so they're not as time sensitive as Heat One. :)
I find I am reading faster now than I did for Battleship, hehehe. Also helps that I'm sticking to short category romances! They're the potato chips of books for me. ;)
Okay, I really need to go to bed - I need to leave the house at 6:30 tomorrow morning to trek to a faraway hospital. @_@ I'll peak in here before I head out, but I may not be able to do heavy duty spreadsheet stuff until I get home. Keep rocking the reading - you all doing such a great job! :D

I'm going by the spreadsheet...hope this is right for next book."
It works perfectly. You have one other book, Treat Her Right, and it doesn't matter what order you finish them in. Do what makes you happy! :)
I'm seeing Let 1 needs a books starting with Time...Time Was, Nora Roberts probably an easy read...let me know.
Tammie wrote: "I'm seeing Let 1 needs a books starting with Time...Time Was, Nora Roberts probably an easy read...let me know."I'll list it as one of two options... not sure how easy it will be to link off of "was" for the last book :/

Update post above. :) Not sure who all can read more than 1 book for Heat 1 (well, except me and Lory, heh). I'm halfway through my 2nd book for Olympics already and don't mind doing a 3rd if needed (for example, I found 2 that start with "Rumors"), but wanted to let others have a chance to jump in. And we have to find a spot for Sydney too... have you heard from her? Hope she's okay.
