Yes - it has 'horse' in the list name, so I am happy for you to use it :)

Theme: 8. Main character is a musician (singer counts).
Option 2 key date: 1 January 2014 - Happy New Year! (must be rated at least 3 stars, and you can't go back further than this 'date read' if you select from a team-member's bookshelf)
You must note how this theme qualifies in your selection post including a link to a shelf with a word such as 'musician' or noting that the theme is evident on the GR summary page/blurb/precis.
Words acceptable for shelf names are:
'Musician'
'Singer'
'Band'
Or their expansions/contractions.

But I will monitor this thread if you have questions.

That book is fine to qualify through it's precis/blurb :)

Thanks Jane :)

Does this book qualify? It says in the precis, that she is an accomplished pianist, but it doesn't seem to be important for the story lol

I'll post further in yr team thread tonight :)

A member of my team has asked if they can read Saugatuck Summer on the basis that the publisher has "musician" listed as a keyword under careers on the 'Additionl Details" section in the listing for this title on their website.(http://riptidepublishing.com/titles/s...)
Is this acceptable or do they need to make a different selection?

Hi Tabs - the publisher's shelves/categories won't work. It needs to be on GR's shelving or on the GR book page/precis to be acceptable :) Sorry!
The only (general) exception to this ruling is the use of Amazon's book pages (and only Amazon) when GR doesn't have them on the book page.

Theme: 15. Book mentioned in one of the 2014 'What are you reading?' topics.
2014 July - What Are You Reading?
2014 June - What Are You Reading?
2014 May - What Are You Reading?
2014 April - What Are You Reading?
2014 March - What Are You Reading?
2014 February - What Are You Reading?
2014 January - What Are You Reading?
Option 2 key date: 8 January 2014 (must be rated at least 3 stars, and you can't go back further than this 'date read' if you select from a team-member's bookshelf)
To show that your book qualifies for option 1 (the theme) you must include a link to the post where the book is mentioned in the 'What Are You Reading' thread.

LOL - hope there's a book in there somewhere for you, Teresa!

ok, thanks!

I'm still reading my book from last week. Can I read this week's selection first? I think I can finish it quicker.
Thanks!
:-) Elaine

Sure :) You can read out of order - just just need to be no more than 2 books behind.

Hi Jane, Is that message 35 in the thread? I am assuming that we cannot use any books that have been added to the thread after the theme was called, i.e. those comments dated July 11 onwards?
I am having such a hard time picking a book!! And its not helping that I am also adding books to my TBR while searching these threads :)

Color me confused.
Is the image just not showing up? Can anyone else see it? Can I still use the book or do I have to make another selection?

Fran's post"
Great! Thanks Jane. I did finally make a decision after I message you :)

Theme 13: Book set on an island
Option 2 key date: 15 January 2014 (must be rated at least 3 stars, and you can't go back further than this 'date read' if you select from a team-member's bookshelf)
You must note how this theme qualifies in your selection post including a link to a shelf with a word such as 'island' or noting that the theme is evident on the GR summary page/blurb/precis.
Words acceptable for shelf names are:
'Island'
'Ship-wrecked'
Or their expansions/contractions.
If there are some other words, please suggest them and I'll consider if they fit appropriately.

Yes, the British Isles will count.
Here is the guide for when you are considering if your book is set on an island:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Island
Note: Australia is no longer the biggest island and smallest continent. We are now firmly a continent. Greenland is the biggest island...

I guess I don't understand mainland then. Isn't England off the coast of Europe?
Hawaii is just in the middle of the ocean so that doesn't work?
Oops. Skip this. I see answer above

I guess I..."
You are right. Ignore 'off the coast from a mainland' since I've adopted Wiki's definition. I was concerned the theme was too restrictive, so I opened it up :)

Oh, I have that one on my TBR shelf, too!
Although, I'm leaning toward this one:

I've been dying for this theme to pop up!"

Hawaii does work now...
