Question: If a book otherwise meets a week's theme, does it have to also be a romance or is that not necessarily a requirement?

Tabs - so long as it meets the theme, it is fine to use. Although it still needs to be a novel. No text books.

How many books need to be in the series for it to count for the theme?

It needs to be a series recognised by the author - so if it is on the author's page below their bio etc as a series, it will count :)

Question - If you read a book with multiple authors and at least one of them has a name that starts with J, is that acceptable? This one is the one I was looking at The Lady Most Willing...: A Novel in Three Parts.

That is fine Kat, but you have to read the whole book - not sure if you are talking an anthology or a co-authoring effort :)

I will be, I think each of the authors write a part but it isn't really an anthology. I listened to the first one, The Lady Most Likely...: A Novel in Three Parts, and there was no distinction between parts or for the different authors, at least in the audio.

Hey, Jane!

This is a silly question, but I just want to clarify in case I run up against a difficult theme. In the rules, it says we can choose a book from the weekly theme, or...

2. Select a book from the 'READ' list of a team-mate that they read in the last 6 months AND that the team-mate rated at least 3 stars. (This essentially passing on a recommendation ;) If the book is in a series but does not match where you are up to, you may read another book from that same series.

So...if one of my teammates has read the first book in say the Psy-Changeling series (rated 3 stars/within the last six months), but I'm on book 4 in that series, I can select book 4 for the week?

I should probably also ask if it works in reverse. If my teammate has read book 4 within the last six months, can I select book 1 even if it was read 9 months ago, based on it being a series?

Hi Becky, that is right. You can read the next book in the series (wherever you are up to) based off one of your team-mates recently read '3 stars or more' books.

Ah. Sorry for not catching on sooner.

You can select your book anytime in the week that the theme is announced; right up until the next theme is announced. You can also change the book you want to read, but again, only until the next theme is announced.

Darn randomiser - I was planning to put off Outlander until the end of the month when I had finished my other challenges!

I started Outlander 3 days ago - so pleased I'm not doing this challenge. Another 450+ page book would have taken out all my reading for the month!!!

I'm a glutton for punishment and picked a 480-pager. I'm not complaining though...it's a great read and I'm at 70% already. Yay!

It's been ages since I've read that one. I need to read it again. Love the prose, just have to be in the mood for it. I hated the movie...it didn't do the book justice and the characters came across ten times more childish. I was ready to throw food at the screen, but didn't want to waste good pizza.

The pet must be an animal and must have a name. No shifters (not that I know how they could be a pet ;) Alien pets are OK.
