What Are You Currently Reading? (doesn't have to be an Aussie book) - Part 2
I'm just starting
Vampire Wars by Perry Lake and
The Complete Works of H.P. Lovecraft. The Lovecraft book I will be dipping into for specific stories per week over November.
My Cousin Rachel by Daphne du Maurier. So far it is not in the same ball park as Rebecca or Jamaica Inn
Sweep in Peace by Ilona Andrews. This is book 2 of their Innkeeper series, which I've just discovered and am loving. Really innovative urban fantasy.
Blood Lines by Angela Marsons. The fifth in her Kim Stone series and very good so far! The evil sociopathic psychologist Alexandra Thorne is back meddling in Kim's life from prison.

The next one called One Fell Sweep is available in instalments from its book page. It actually finished today. I don't know how long it stays up before they take it down to publish it properly. It's very good:)

This one is great Carolyn!!!
This one is great Carolyn!!!
Currently listening to Carpentaria. Can't say I am overly fussed by it. I prefer a book with a stronger plot. The author has great skill with description. Wouldn't want to be listening to it in the car for a long period of time, it would put you to sleep.
Phrynne wrote: "The next one called One Fell Sweep is available..."Ooh, thank you, Phrynne! Will have to check it out pronto!
'The Faculty Club' by Danny Tobie, a thriller that got us both hooked from page 1. I put the longevity of our relationship (17 years now) down to we read to each other. I'd rather have my head in a book than watch the idiot box.

I am reading my second book by
. Enjoying it but not as good as the book I read
. I think I should have maybe opted for a different author before reading 2 in a row by the same author. Daisy in Chains had left me with high expectations.
Leonie wrote: "Currently reading The Blood Mirror by Brent Weeks. Really good so far :)"I just finished that in a break from my current read, was quite disapointed with it. Hope you enjoy it more :)
I'm enjoying A World Undone: The Story of the Great War, 1914 to 1918 so much, but have decided to slow down my read time and interspace it with other books, so i can really follow and understand whats going on (instead of my usual all out rush)

every so often I glance over to the right of my screen where it says what GR recommends because I am currently reading X. Sometimes they sort of make sense; other times they are a total mystery like this:RECOMMENDATIONS
Because you are currently reading Precious and Grace (No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, #17):
The Vampire of Venice Beach (McAffee Twins, #3)
by Jennifer Colt
???? LOL

Only seven books in that series Carolyn:) But they are all good ones !!!

Are you sure, Carolyn? I have only read the prequel, Odd Thomas: You Are Destined To Be Together Forever, and I have every intention of continuing with the series, but I haven't read Odd Thomas yet....

My attempts at avoiding new series without finishing others first don't seem to be going very well :)

I've made a list of series I have to finish and I have about twenty on the go! Holy mackerel! Lol.
B the BookAddict wrote: "Kathryn, Looking at reviews, I am in the minority with my opinion. Many readers loved it, you probably will, too."No, Bette - I am with you on The Shadow Hour. I'd forgotten that you commented about it being like a half-strength Kate Morton novel (unless I remembered it subconsciously) and as I was reading The Shadow Hour, it reminded me very much of The Distant Hours which I read and loved several months ago. The storyline was quite different, but it had the same vibe (maybe it's just the Gothic-ness) but didn't make me want to turn the pages like The Distant Hours did! Despite the lovely cover on this one, it was rather ordinary...
B the BookAddict wrote: "Kathryn, maybe Riordan's stories will improve as her book number increases."Perhaps, Bette. I have to say I don't feel inclined to read The Girl in the Photograph which there was an excerpt of at the end of The Shadow Hour - I didn't even feel like reading the excerpt, but skimmed it quickly! Too many books, too little time!
Phrynne wrote: "Oh the more the merrier Kiera:)"I'm endeavouring to finish those before I start any new series. Fingers crossed!
I just finished Breaking Ties. I enjoyed this series and it was a good conclusion. I gave it 4 stars.Review:

There are several books with that title. Which one are you reading? If you link it we can look at it too:)

I'm currently reading Play Dead by Angela Marsons and I know all that have read it will agree when I say "I don't want to put this book down."I'm definitely going back and reading the first three in the series and now there's a number five also!!!!
If anyone's after a quick read Sister Heart is an engaging verse novel written from the point of view of a stolen child. I've also just finished Lost & Found which was a fantastic debut novel. Loved it!
They're all good Veronica! I've just finished the fifth one Blood Lines and it was pretty un-putdownable as well!I really enjoyed Lost & Found as well Tango :)
I started three books this afternoon. Written in the Scars, Dragonfly in Amber and Sinners at the Altar.
