I find if you enter only AU and right near the end of the giveaway, you've got more chance. I've won two in the last 2 weeks! But haven't won for awhile before that:)

Tracey Allen at Carpe Librum (carpelibrum) | 859 comments I do enter only AU comps and just counted up all my entries. I've entered 66 GR giveaways, and never won.

That's bad luck Tracey... well I just checked mine. I've entered 505 times in almost 7 years! And I've won 17 books...so that's just over 3% ... not that high. When you think of how many people enter the giveaways though, the mind boggles!

A bit depressing, I've entered 3225 times winning about 1.5%

Nicole Alexander (nicole_alexander) | 98 comments Tidying up my parents library and found a copy of Music and Silence Music & Silence by Rose Tremain by Rose Tremaine. The work won the Whitbread in '99. Read the first chapter last night - after 2 glasses of red, which is never a good idea. Ended up watching First Knight with Richard Gere & Sean Connery on TV . Fab eye-candy.

Sally906 | 87 comments When you guys enter do you put the book on your shelf like they want? I don't have books on my TBR shelf unless I actually own them. I have a wish list that I use to put books I'm interested in. When I enter I put the book on my wish list, so I'm wondering if they look on my TBR list - don't see it - and cross my name off.

Sometimes I do, most times I don't Sally :) The last one I won (a couple of days ago) wasn't on my TBR :)

It's all completely random Sally. It doesn't matter if you have never reviewed or if you have any books on your shelf at all.

There was a page spread about the book and author in our Saturday Newcastle paper today, which was very interesting. The author has an American father and Australian mother but what I found really interesting was that he had contact with a self-proclaimed master forger, Ken Piereni, who confessed in his memoir Caveat Emptor, after being hounded b the FBI.

The author says he had a surreal moment when he asked him to authenticate the method of forgery for a fictitious painting. Hence the author discovered some helpful hints to correct some mistakes he might have made about pigments and methods.

I've painted sometimes for love of it, and love books about painters or about paintings. So will try to read this one really soon.

Empire of Sin: A Story of Sex, Jazz, Murder, and the Battle for Modern New Orleans by Gary Krist
and
Gulag: A History by Anne Applebaum

He lives in Newtown in Sydney and borrowed my copy of Razor: Tilly Devine, Kate Leigh and the Razor Gangs by Larry Writer to read on the plane. He was most surprised and awed with the history of his home suburb and surrounds! ;D

I've just finished The Beekeeper's Secret and there is a character named Veronica.
I'm now reading My Melancholic Diary and there is a character named Veronica

In the mail today I received Sensing You by J.M. Adele and the main characters name is Veronica.

Even so, she didn't have the two I am after buuuut :) I came away with The Last Painting of Sara de Vos by Dominic Smith which I did want, and she rushed outside to open a box of new arrivals to get this one for DH A Divided Spy by Charles Cumming which sounds good to me too! So all's well :D
....she also offered me a quick hug which I thought a little odd given the time and place but, never one for refusing a free hug (can't get too many eh?) I launched in and a great hug was enjoyed by all....turns out she was offering a free catalogue! Hahaha!! We all had a good laugh and kicked on with our shopping. ヽ(*⌒∇⌒*)ノ

It was pre review I think but anyway they are so long and involved with so many characters it would be impossible to recall them just from a blurb or a review. Wiki have a detailed account of the plot of each book so I am up to date and ready to go:)

Yes Veronica, but you know what? Whilst seeking those two books I am accumulating a whole lot of others as I look! :0
Trying to find: Dark Fires Shall Burn by Anna Westbrook and The Convict's Daughter: The Scandal that Shocked a Colony by Kiera Lindsey, so far I haven't seen either :/

No doubt I could get them from bookshops but the costs are a lot higher. Will only do that if I can't get them otherwise ;)
