I do enter only AU comps and just counted up all my entries. I've entered 66 GR giveaways, and never won.
That's bad luck Tracey... well I just checked mine. I've entered 505 times in almost 7 years! And I've won 17 books...so that's just over 3% ... not that high. When you think of how many people enter the giveaways though, the mind boggles!
Tidying up my parents library and found a copy of Music and Silence
by Rose Tremaine. The work won the Whitbread in '99. Read the first chapter last night - after 2 glasses of red, which is never a good idea. Ended up watching First Knight with Richard Gere & Sean Connery on TV . Fab eye-candy.
When you guys enter do you put the book on your shelf like they want? I don't have books on my TBR shelf unless I actually own them. I have a wish list that I use to put books I'm interested in. When I enter I put the book on my wish list, so I'm wondering if they look on my TBR list - don't see it - and cross my name off.
Sometimes I do, most times I don't Sally :) The last one I won (a couple of days ago) wasn't on my TBR :)

Wow! I thought the amount of times I had entered was a lot!!! You should have won a library full Veronica!

Visiting Vinnies is just like a win and I picked up these two yesterday.Silver Clouds by Fleur McDonald
Man Drought by Rachael Johns

The author has an American father and Australian mother but what I found really interesting was that he had contact with a self-proclaimed master forger, Ken Piereni, who confessed in his memoir Caveat Emptor, after being hounded b the FBI.
The author says he had a surreal moment when he asked him to authenticate the method of forgery for a fictitious painting. Hence the author discovered some helpful hints to correct some mistakes he might have made about pigments and methods.
I've painted sometimes for love of it, and love books about painters or about paintings. So will try to read this one really soon.

Had a visit from my ("fave";) nephew yesterday who recently returned from a holiday in America and brought us these gifts:Empire of Sin: A Story of Sex, Jazz, Murder, and the Battle for Modern New Orleans by Gary Krist
and
Gulag: A History by Anne Applebaum
He lives in Newtown in Sydney and borrowed my copy of Razor: Tilly Devine, Kate Leigh and the Razor Gangs by Larry Writer to read on the plane. He was most surprised and awed with the history of his home suburb and surrounds! ;D

three in the mail today from Text, coming out 27th June:Black Teeth
and The Road to Winter
and The Last Days of Chez Nous and Two Friends
Started reading JD Barretts Secret Recipe for Second Chances,
quirky beginning in terms of style/voice took me by surprise. The narrative is fast-paced, conversational and full on. Enjoying it so far.
I'm having one of those strange book coincidences.I've just finished The Beekeeper's Secret and there is a character named Veronica.
I'm now reading My Melancholic Diary and there is a character named Veronica
In the mail today I received Sensing You by J.M. Adele and the main characters name is Veronica.
I think my name is having a revival :)

I know what you mean Veronica! I've been a bit stressed this month with too many netgalley reviews due so I'll be a bit more careful about not asking for too many in future!

LOL! Does sound like a good one though!
I have to say most of the netgalley books I have to read this month have been fantastic. I just they weren't all due for release at the same time :)
Well...I had to go to BigW today on an errand for my sister ;) which took me past the books...who'da thought?? And lo and behold, my fave assistant was there offering new and tempting spoils!!Even so, she didn't have the two I am after buuuut :) I came away with The Last Painting of Sara de Vos by Dominic Smith which I did want, and she rushed outside to open a box of new arrivals to get this one for DH A Divided Spy by Charles Cumming which sounds good to me too! So all's well :D
....she also offered me a quick hug which I thought a little odd given the time and place but, never one for refusing a free hug (can't get too many eh?) I launched in and a great hug was enjoyed by all....turns out she was offering a free catalogue! Hahaha!! We all had a good laugh and kicked on with our shopping. ヽ(*⌒∇⌒*)ノ

The City of Mirrors by Justin Cronin just landed on my kindle. I pre ordered it ages ago. Now I have to go see if I can Wiki the first two books and remind myself what happened. I read them so long ago I only have a vague memory:)
Didn't you write reviews for them? Or was it pre-review writing? How exciting to have the new one though!!!
It was pre review I think but anyway they are so long and involved with so many characters it would be impossible to recall them just from a blurb or a review. Wiki have a detailed account of the plot of each book so I am up to date and ready to go:)

LOL - love it.
Glad I am not the only one - when we last flew overseas and going through customs on departure he held out his hand - I shook it - he said it was nice I was being friendly but he was just holding his hand for my passport! Doh!

Trying to find: Dark Fires Shall Burn by Anna Westbrook and The Convict's Daughter: The Scandal that Shocked a Colony by Kiera Lindsey, so far I haven't seen either :/
No doubt I could get them from bookshops but the costs are a lot higher. Will only do that if I can't get them otherwise ;)
LOL Jools! Can't take you anywhere! Hope you and the Big W salesperson are on first name terms now :)For my birthday yesterday - Penguin Bloom: The Odd Little Bird Who Saved a Family by Cameron Bloom and Island Home by Tim Winton.

My baby ( 11 yrs old) left for camp yesterday and sad mamma had to distract herself. I came to visit my Mum in Hastings and of course had to trawl the op shops for books!!! I did a Marianne and visited Vinnies where I picked up 11 books for $24. Then went to the Salvos where I was slightly more restrained and got 3 more but they were a bit more expensive.
Here's my loot in no particular order:
Crazy Love You
The Secrets of Midwives
The Girl in the Spider's Web: Continuing Stieg Larsson's Millennium Series
The Straight Dope: The inside story of sport's biggest drug scandal ( for Hubby)
Unpolished Gem
In Full View: Essays
The Girl With All the Gifts
The House on the Strand
A History of the World in 10½ Chapters
A Spot of Bother
Conversations with God: An Uncommon Dialogue, Vol. 1
And 3 Cookbooks.
