That's bad luck Tracey... well I just checked mine. I've entered 505 times in almost 7 years! And I've won 17 books...so that's just over 3% ... not that high. When you think of how many people enter the giveaways though, the mind boggles!

Sometimes I do, most times I don't Sally :) The last one I won (a couple of days ago) wasn't on my TBR :)

A bit depressing, I've entered 3225 times winning about 1.5%"
Wow! I thought the amount of times I had entered was a lot!!! You should have won a library full Veronica!

It's all completely random Sally. It doesn't matter if you have never reviewed or if you have any books on your shelf at all.

Silver Clouds by Fleur McDonald
Man Drought by Rachael Johns

There was a page spread about the book and author in our Saturday Newcastle paper today, which was very interesting. The author has an American father and Australian mother but what I found really interesting was that he had contact with a self-proclaimed master forger, Ken Piereni, who confessed in his memoir Caveat Emptor, after being hounded b the FBI.
The author says he had a surreal moment when he asked him to authenticate the method of forgery for a fictitious painting. Hence the author discovered some helpful hints to correct some mistakes he might have made about pigments and methods.
I've painted sometimes for love of it, and love books about painters or about paintings. So will try to read this one really soon.

Thanks, I'd like to read that so I might try to track down the article - hopefully it's syndicated in other papers.

Empire of Sin: A Story of Sex, Jazz, Murder, and the Battle for Modern New Orleans by Gary Krist
and
Gulag: A History by Anne Applebaum
He lives in Newtown in Sydney and borrowed my copy of Razor: Tilly Devine, Kate Leigh and the Razor Gangs by Larry Writer to read on the plane. He was most surprised and awed with the history of his home suburb and surrounds! ;D

I read that article in the SMH over the weekend. Looks like a great read. Love books about art.

Black Teeth
and The Road to Winter
and The Last Days of Chez Nous and Two Friends

I've just finished The Beekeeper's Secret and there is a character named Veronica.
I'm now reading My Melancholic Diary and there is a character named Veronica
In the mail today I received Sensing You by J.M. Adele and the main characters name is Veronica.
I think my name is having a revival :)

I'd love to read ink and bone. But I have a few to read and get stressed if I have too many. Looking forward to your review.

I know what you mean Veronica! I've been a bit stressed this month with too many netgalley reviews due so I'll be a bit more careful about not asking for too many in future!

Haha! Famous last words Carolyn :)) I've been trying reeeeeeealy hard to be good and haven't requested any for awhile, and today they granted a wish I don't even remember making :/ albeit a good one;) ...The Beauty of the End by Debbie Howells ....what's a girl to do? ;)

LOL! Does sound like a good one though!
I have to say most of the netgalley books I have to read this month have been fantastic. I just they weren't all due for release at the same time :)

Even so, she didn't have the two I am after buuuut :) I came away with The Last Painting of Sara de Vos by Dominic Smith which I did want, and she rushed outside to open a box of new arrivals to get this one for DH A Divided Spy by Charles Cumming which sounds good to me too! So all's well :D
....she also offered me a quick hug which I thought a little odd given the time and place but, never one for refusing a free hug (can't get too many eh?) I launched in and a great hug was enjoyed by all....turns out she was offering a free catalogue! Hahaha!! We all had a good laugh and kicked on with our shopping. ヽ(*⌒∇⌒*)ノ

The City of Mirrors by Justin Cronin just landed on my kindle. I pre ordered it ages ago. Now I have to go see if I can Wiki the first two books and remind myself what happened. I read them so long ago I only have a vague memory:)
Didn't you write reviews for them? Or was it pre-review writing? How exciting to have the new one though!!!
It was pre review I think but anyway they are so long and involved with so many characters it would be impossible to recall them just from a blurb or a review. Wiki have a detailed account of the plot of each book so I am up to date and ready to go:)

LOL - love it.
Glad I am not the only one - when we last flew overseas and going through customs on departure he held out his hand - I shook it - he said it was nice I was being friendly but he was just holding his hand for my passport! Doh!

Still after those elusive books?

Yes Veronica, but you know what? Whilst seeking those two books I am accumulating a whole lot of others as I look! :0
Trying to find: Dark Fires Shall Burn by Anna Westbrook and The Convict's Daughter: The Scandal that Shocked a Colony by Kiera Lindsey, so far I haven't seen either :/
No doubt I could get them from bookshops but the costs are a lot higher. Will only do that if I can't get them otherwise ;)

For my birthday yesterday - Penguin Bloom: The Odd Little Bird Who Saved a Family by Cameron Bloom and Island Home by Tim Winton.

Haha, Thank goodness we have been on first name terms for a few years now otherwise I might have felt obliged to buy her dinner! ;)
Great birthday presents Carolyn! Penguin so gorgeous!!

I was taken by the little red fox on the cover...I have a thing for little red foxes :)

Beautiful illustrations in the preview, too.

Yes it looks like a really nice book Andrea :)

I did a Marianne and visited Vinnies where I picked up 11 books for $24. Then went to the Salvos where I was slightly more restrained and got 3 more but they were a bit more expensive.
Here's my loot in no particular order:

The Secrets of Midwives

The Girl in the Spider's Web: Continuing Stieg Larsson's Millennium Series

The Straight Dope: The inside story of sport's biggest drug scandal ( for Hubby)
Unpolished Gem

In Full View: Essays

The Girl With All the Gifts

The House on the Strand

A History of the World in 10½ Chapters

A Spot of Bother

Conversations with God: An Uncommon Dialogue, Vol. 1

And 3 Cookbooks.
