What Cozy are You Reading in 2016?
Melodie wrote: "No, not this one. Someone else finished another series she used to write under a different name."
Good to hear.
Good to hear.
Just read the first two Family Fortune mysteries, Pall in the Family and Be Careful What You Witch For. Liked them both.

I've started
Cloche and Dagger by Jenn McKinlay. I'm not sure how I feel about the protagonist yet, but it's not looking good 55 pages in. I do hope it improves though because I have the next three books in the series already.

I really like that series. Just finished the newest one the other day.

Yes!! Great series IMO!!! Also read her Cupcake series if you haven't already! :)

I like this series! Hope you end up liking it too :)
I finished
How to Wash a Cat, and have to admit it confused me. (view spoiler) One character, Monty, got on my nerves so bad that I really really wanted to reach into the pages and kill him, and I wanted to slap the main character for putting up with him. The historical info on San Francisco was interesting, but a lot of it was repeated too often. And the ending - don't get me started on how annoying it was.

I'm really enjoying so far. Love the pace and the writing style. The story is keeping me interested.

I'm having a hard time with the protagonist, but ended up liking the story enough that I'm not upset I invested in the series. Hopefully my issues with the main character will diminish in the second book.

The first two books you list are finalists for the Agatha Award. What did you think? Which one would you vote for?

Enjoy the Cupcake Bakery & Hat Shop books. Not so much the Library Lovers. The "triangle" thing in that series is ridiculous. WHY do so many cozy authors use that tired and mostly LAZY plot point?? Also didn't care much for the Good Buy Girls series she wrote as Josie Bell. Glad she put that one out of its misery!

I really like all of her series'. I know Melodie didn't like her Good Buy Girls series but I did. I like the library series but it is my least favorite. But the beginning books are good. Cupcake one and hat one are really good :) IMO

Die Dunkelgräfin und die Kokosnuss by Katharina Schendel
Zwetschgendatschikomplott (Franz Eberhofer) by Rita Falk
Wer sich in Gefahr begibt (Lizzie Martin & Ben Ross) by Ann Granger
Double-Booked for Death (Black Cat Bookshop Mystery) by Ali Brandon
Mörderische Verstrickungen (Southern Sisters Mystery) by Anne George
Why Shoot a Butler? by Georgette Heyer
Die drei Königinnen. Ein neuer Fall für Sherlock Holmes by Anthony Horrowitz
Der lautlose Schrei (Ein MORDS-Team) by Andreas Suchaneck
A Novel Way to Die (Black Cat Bookshop Mystery) by Ali Brandon
Winston: Agent auf leisen Pfoten (Winston) by Frauke Scheunemann
Der Altmann ist tot (Frau Freitag & Frl. Krise ermitteln) by Frau Freitag & Frl. Krise
That was a really good cozy month :)

I've actually read three of the Agatha First nominees. The third is Just Killing Time by Julianne Holmes. I enjoyed all three and recommend all three, but Macdeath by Cindy Brown is the one that will get my vote.
I'm reading Death of a Dishonorable Gentleman by Tessa Arlen which is also an Agatha nominee. It's set in the Downton Abbey time period. Right now I'm wishing the author had included a list of characters.

Good to know. That one's on my Kindle.

aww, I really liked them. I read the first 2, then went online and bought all 8. Was sad to hear the author died and there wouldn't be anymore.

It is on my Nook and may grab the second book in the series.

Now reading

I miss the character list as a feature in mystery novels. It was common in early works of mystery fiction. The Ellery Queen and Perry Mason books always had character lists.
I've just started
Ill-Gotten Panes by Jennifer McAndrews. I'm only two chapters in, but I'm really enjoying the protagonist.

That's a great list!

I have read the Scrapbooking series of Laura Childs and am now reading her Cackleberry Club series. Love the recipes as well!

Homicide in Hardcover
And I found the Haunted Yarn Shop on Hoopla.
Last Wool and Testament

Not a cozy series, not, but I think a good one, anyway.

My granddaughter reads all the time, I asked her what kinds of books she reads, her answer, kids books, Grandma, I'm a kid. What do you read she asked? I said Murder mysteries, because I am a murderer, Oh no you are not! you are just a good Grandma!
My 2 year old grandson saw my recent book on the kitchen table "Murder of a Small-Town Honey" I read to him all the time. When he saw the book he picked it up and said read it to me Gram, I want to hear it. No, you would not like that someone gets hurt in the book. His answer was I won't listen to that part, I'll be sleeping by then!

I loved the "Good Buy Girl Series". What was your problem with that?
Enjoy the Cupcake B..."

(Funny, I never seem to see much mention of Mignon G. Eberhart anywhere. Didn't they once hail her as the American Agatha Christie?)

I really enjoy both of these series!

I think I am just going to skip this series. I have heard several people not like the Book Retreat Series...so I think I am just going to stick with the Charmed Pie Shoppe series and skip the other ones...very disappointed.
