So many more developments and complications for Sydney. While I liked this one, maybe a little more than the last because of the progression of Sydney's relationship with Adrian, some things were just resolved too easily. Even though there will probably be consequences later, it feels like a little slow. I liked Marcus and some of the new characters. I can see why this was the favorite in the series for a lot of people. I'm hoping the next one is a little better. I'm waiting for this series to enthrall me like Vampire Academy did.

How it fits: 4th in a series
Date: 15.02.16
Rating: ★★★★

Review:

I really enjoyed this book as you can tell by how quickly I read it.

This instalment follows the story of Butch O'Neill the human cop who has been taken in by the Black Dagger Brotherhood. It is obvious from the out set that Butch isn't your everyday human, and I was intrigued to find out where he placed within their world. I wasn't disappointed this book was full of twists and turns and probably the first book in the series where I have felt any kind of sympathy for the lessers. I loved the chemistry between Butch and Marissa but also the obvious bond he shares with Vishous.....not sure how that one is going to end up but looking forwards to finding out.

I think the other reason I enjoy this series so much is that each Brother features in every book, whist each book takes you on one characters particular journey you still get to hear about how the others are progressing. Looking forwards to book 5.

Review: A Grave Talent was a surprisingly gripping little mystery. This was the author's first novel but it read like an established author. We find out "whodunit" about halfway through, but we don't know who or where "he" is and it doesn't take away from the story at all. The background of a pseudo-commune is one of my favourites, I'm always fascinated by people who live off the grid. The art background was also well written and educational. I love a book where I learn something.

I was surprised that this book is over 20 years old already. I'm going to have to hunt down the rest of the series somewhere.

Review:
This series was recommended to me by my mom. She didn't read this one but picked up some random in series (one that was available in shop at the airport since plane was late. I have to say I was surprised when she told me since she prefers romance books :P).
It was good. Some things were too obvious (or maybe I've read too many mystery/thrillers :P) and I'm usually bad at figuring bad guys, but this was just there. Ok I didn't know who else was involved (and would never guess) but main guy could have been wearing a sign.
It was good book, but at the moments I had a feeling it was moving too slow (for thriller). I even switched for part of it to audio (thank you library!) to maybe speed it up, but had to go back because I just got lost. In the end I had to reread listened part since I had no idea what happened. So much for speeding it up :P
Anyway, I'm not giving up on series. I just need to get used to this writing style.

Review:

This is the fourth book in the Bloodlines series, and it was a little more romance heavy. Sydney and Adrian are definitely making up for lost time as well as preparing for a time when Sydney may no longer be assigned to Palm Springs. There are many breakthroughs and discoveries that can change the course of the series. I'm very excited to see how those will play out. The last 40-50 pages were exactly what I had been missing from the series as a whole! It felt much more like the things I loved about Vampire Academy, I'm just disappointed it took so long to happen in this series. I have some high hopes for the next book so we'll see how that goes.

Review:
Book four picks up right where book three left off: With the Dunsmuirs finally continuing their so rudely interrupted journey to Canada on the Lady Lucy and Claire, Andrew and the children following them on Alice's Stalwart Lass. Arrived and reunited in Edmonton, a high society function introduces Claire and Alice to Count von Zeppelin, whom both admire - and who promptly almost falls victim to an assassination attempt in their company. On top of that, there is sabotage in the Dunsmuirs' diamond mine and Alice's long-lost father, whom she has finally tracked down, might be involved. And the count may have escaped one attempt on his life, but others are sure to follow. Once again, the Lady of Devices and her flock have all sorts of adventure on their hands!

A thoroughly fun read full of action and extremely endearing characters - so far, I'm enjoying this series more with each book. I've absolutely loved seeing Claire grow and find her path over these four books and am now very much looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for her and her wards, who will apparently be taking centre stage in the next couple of installments.

Review: Lots of big changes for Cat and Bones in this installment! I loved the introduction of Gregor and some mysteries in Cat's past. But the repeated attempts to make us think Cat and Bones are breaking up are feeling a little tired 4 books in. Can we just agree that it all feels like a ploy? You're not fooling us! We know they'll still wind up together! It annoys me that we are still dealing with this kind of fabricated drama. I'm also bummed that some of my favorite characters keep getting killed off. But the series is cool enough to keep my interest so I'll plug away at them. I can't wait to see how Vlad manages to keep Cat on her toes! He was a welcome breath of fresh air!

Review
If I want a nice easy romantic read I always go back to the "Virgin River series' I wasn't sure about reading this one with the theme being Christmas and we are now in February but it only touched on the occasion couple of times.

The books are full of brave military alpha male types who have all serves in the forces and strong minded women who make them fall to their knees. This book was no exception, after loosing her Husband after he is injured in Afghanistan. Marcie Sullivan sets out to find one of the guys he served with so she can let him know Bobby has died. Ian Buchanan has PTSD and has fallen off the radar, blaming himself for Bobby's injuries the last person he wants to see is his widow.

The think I like most about these books is that the author makes Virgin River a place e all would like to got and brings a community of people together. Characters from the previous books also feature so its nice to find out how their lives are progressing.

Review: I want to like cozy mysteries, but too often the main character is a complete idiot. This one wasn't too bad - a little too much of a 13 year old girl in a 30 year old's body, but she was only idiotic about her relationship. At least she didn't run around accusing every single person she met of murder. All in all a good book with an interesting mystery.

Murder, corruption and lots and lots of snow: When a snow plow uncovers the body of a young woman, strangled and marked with an X on her forehead, Sheriff David Wolf has his hands full chasing a killer while the rest of the small town of Rocky Points is enjoying the ski resort and engaging in shady deals and blackmail behind the scenes.

I haven't read any of the previous books in the series (just picked this one up as a freebie at some point), but I might go check them out now. A solid thriller with well-developed characters, taut suspense and a nice twist to the end. Oh, and a high speed chase on skis, which was kinda cool.

Review:
When I read previous books in series, I had a feeling I'm reading more or less same book just with different names. This one wasn't like that. Maybe it's because it's been few years since last read so it's not that stuck in my head?
Of course there were couple of eye-roll moments, or something obvious being missed until right moment, but it still is fine read. It's good book that makes you relax.
So, Rio is some strange type of alien/vampire (too complicated to explain here :P) who was betrayed by his mate and now wants to kill himself. Until Dylan stumbles upon his cave and causes him to change his mind. Not because he fell for her, but because she took some pics she wasn't supposed to :) To make things quicker, they discover she's breedmate (I think word says it clearly) and can see dead people (or better to say dead women) and someone is killing women like her...
Every time I start this books I ask myself why, but as soon as it's over I'm in search of next one *sigh*

While it wasn't as good as some of the other couples in the series, it didn't take away from the fact that it was wonderful in its own right. London has baggage just like anyone else and so does Luke. They have to be able to work through that to find a way to be with each other. I love these books so much. Sometimes the quality of the writing is was really gets me. Some of the sentences are so well thought out and put together. A great example of craft.

Review: I'm still deciding whether or not I like this series. I put this one off for a long time and...I just don't know. I wish the demon world was a little better explained. I wish there was more action. I wish the brothers were more distinct and unique. It all feels a little too familiar but not quite as interesting as BDB.

I enjoyed Runa but she changed her opinion on Shade awfully quickly. The curse and the backstory with Roag was pretty cool, and I liked how Shade had to overcome his issues to find peace. But honestly I thought Kynan and Gem's story was much more interesting. Now that their path is even more uncertain it makes me want to find out what happens to them. And Wraith!

I'll give it one more book before I give up.

It has been a really long time since I read the first book in this series (the first one came out in 2012 and I read it shortly after). But I remember that I loved it! Plus I'm a huge Ilona Andrews fan in general. I really loved this one, the story quality was on par with all of their other work, and it was a combination of their Edge series and also something completely new. I really wish I could have brushed up on The Edge series again and reread the first one so everything was a little fresher. This was a great story, if a bit of a morality story (you know the ones you read as kids that teach you how to share or say please and thank you). I liked the digital additions so you could really see what the characters are supposed to look like. It was a tiny bit predictable. I've completely fumbled this review by jumping around, but it really is worth reading. If you like science fiction/fantasy/Ilona Andrews then go for this series.
