Sarah (luthiennienna) | 20 comments I just read the first six books in Charlaine Harris Aurora Teagarden series... Now for a change I have started reading The Girl on the Train

I am enjoying it so far - much better than how I felt reading Gone Girl... I was so frustrated with how horrible the characters were to each other, my bookmark is still sitting half-way through my copy!

message 405: by Anita (new)

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1488 comments The Girl on the Train and Gone Girl are both excellently well written of a genre I call "Contemporary Crap". No socially or morally redeeming value at all.

Britney | 380 comments Ok, so I finished Kiss of the Night (Dark-Hunter, #4) by Sherrilyn Kenyon dark Hunter number 4. And dawn, I'm so sad to say this was my least favorite :(((. I really thought when I first started it would be great and I haven't really been disappointed in a dark Hunter book yet, BUT I really didn't like the flow of this one. It wasn't centered enough on the relationship to me, and just seemed to jump around too much for me to feel really connected maybe. I did start feeling better closer to the middle end but it was just to late to make an expression. Sooooo instead of going on to a midnight breed like I would normally do now lol, I'm going to jump right in to dark Hunter number 5 Night Play (Dark-Hunter #5, Were-Hunter #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon , because I'm sure that was just a glitch in my brain or something and hopefully that will be the only time that happens! Plus I was really looking forward to this one, so I'm sure it will be great. All the others have been for me. I've started and I am like usual, very hooked already.

message 419: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 199 comments There are a few that I struggled to get through, but like you said...about 3/4 through them I start getting into it. I relate these oddities to the BDB books I didn't love. She always gives me another one I love. I hope you love the next one.

That book more than any of the others is deeply entrenched in mythology. While I love that stuff, it's easy to get lost in the lore.

Yea I'm pretty positive that won't be happening often. I am about 100 pages in of the next one and so far I'm very interested and haven't had a complaint yet! So I'm thinking we are back on track :) I think the only thing that I was starting not to like in the bdb series was too much lessinging society getting page time after around book 5 or so and on. I still loved every single one though but I did have the ones that I liked more than others.

Though I was interested in that stuff as well, it got to be more of a fantasy then a romance at times and I am strictly all about the love :)

Haha :)

It's weird. I never really thought I was a fast reader. My mom reads about the same pace, so it never really occurred to me.

And I used to play a lot of mmo type computer games that had to have me reading fast too. So I thought it was kind of normal paced.

Jenn (saphirava) | 1 comments Currently reading the Shadow Heir from the Dark Swan series by Richelle Mead. Really interesting book. I have read nearly all of Nora Roberts so I am trying to branch out and find more good authors. My favorite of Nora's usually lean towards her more fantasy series. Hence why I like this current series I am reading...

Open to any and all recommendations!
