The story revolves around the backstories of the crash victims, the investigation into the incident , and what's going on with characters of interest now. Thanks to Net Galley, the publishers and the author Chris Holm for a ARC Copy.
After very much enjoying "The Killing Kind", the Michael Hendricks book 1, and also the quick short story "The Approach", I was very happy to be approved number 2 in the series with our anti hero Michael Hendricks.
An anti-hero with a difference, an assassin who goes after assassins.
When a family stops near the Golden Gate Bridge to record a special anniversary message at the very spot their grandparents once posed for a photo nearly forty years ago, things take a tragic turn as a tugboat carrying explosives slams into the bridge, detonating on impact, causing massive destruction.
Upon seeing the family’s recorded mobile footage of the moments just before the explosion, Thompson makes a startling discovery. Frank Segreti’s face was captured on the video, signaling that he’s apparently alive and well, which is a shock to the FBI, as they previously thought him to be dead. This starts a great chain of plots and twists.
Seven years prior, Frank Segreti came to the FBI offering key evidence about a shady organization comprised of different crime leaders, known only as the "Council". In return for his betrayal, the Council hired someone to take him out. Until now, Segreti was believed to have been killed in an explosion., but now very much alive in this mobile footage.
Thompson hopes that Segreti can once again help lead her to the Council, but keeping him alive–especially once Council members find out he’s still breathing–poses a real problem. Thinking outside of the box, she turns to another man wanted by the FBI, hitman Michael Hendricks, to keep Segreti safe.
Michael Hendricks has spent the last year coming to terms with his friend Lester being murdered by an assassin sent by the council to kill Michael Hendricks, he survived with his life but is determined to seek revenge on the members of "The Council"
This action packed, rollercoaster of a ride thriller keeps your attention with multiple storylines that you know are going to come together nicely.
Some great characters in this entertaining book, and all I can say is read book one quickly and get ready for this book when it comes out in mid September.
A clear four star from me.
Currently reading When she was bad by Tammy Cohen, I rated Velocity by Dean Koontz 4★ it was a really good story but I can't help thinking another author would have made it terrifying
Finished with The Wicked Boy: The Mystery of a Victorian Child Murderer, by Kate Summerscale. I'm thinking it's a 3-star book although I'll keep thinking about it for a while. The murder story is fascinating, but she could have ended this book a lot sooner with much less padding with all sorts of irrelevant details. I mean, it's like research is fun (at least for me) but you have to know when to hold back when it comes to the writing.
Just finished
Serpents in Eden: A British Library Crime Classic, a collection of short story mysteries set in the 'golden age' and collated and introduced by Martin Edwards. Loved this collection! https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...And currently a little over half way through listening to
Final Account by Peter Robinson; a third of the way through
Cometh the Hour by Jeffrey Archer; and just started
Out of the Ice by Ann Turner an Australian author whose previous book The Lost Swimmer was a four star read for me.
Just finished The Last Days of Night
by Graham Moore, and cannot recommend it enough. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Started I Was Jack Mortimer by Alexander Lernet-Holenia late last night -- a crime novel from Austria.
I just finished Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith. My review is here:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Nice review. I started to read the book but decided oh, I do not want to be in the head of a serial killer. It seems the series is getting progressively darker. HP did as well but on an entirely different level.
I don't mind dark, but serial killers and other forays into the depths of clinical psychology are not my thing. And the author does not understand that less is more. Maybe her next book will be better.
M.L. wrote: "I started to read the book but decided oh, I do not want to be in the head of a serial killer. "I agree. Authors tend to beat that drum way too much. I used to be fine with it but a few years ago I decided that I have read enough of it.
I'm put off by serial killer books as well...especially when the POV of the killer is described. I agree it's sordid and nasty.
I'm reading The Other Daughter by Lisa Gardner. I just found a stack of her books in my room, so I'll be on a Lisa Gardner kick for a while.
I finished The Dark Forest
by Liu Cixin. This is book two of a trilogy that starts with The Three-Body Problem. In this book a fleet of Trisolaran aliens is headed for Earth, and humans are trying to prepare for the battle of their lives. Earth is stymied though, by the very advanced technology of the aliens. Good book with interesting philosophical underpinnings. 4 stars.

Now i am start reading The Man Who Knew Infinity: A Life of the Genius Ramanujan by Robert Kanigel. It is a true story about Indian guy who genius in mathematics. I can't even stop reading it!
Just finished When she was bad by Tammy Cohen 5★ from me, a real page turner as have many of this year's books been, I've actually completed my goodreads challenge of 40 books, I got to 39 last year so I'm very surprised
I loved Wayfaring Stranger by James Lee Burke. My review is here:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Currently reading both of these great and wonderful books
I know if you haven't read any of Susan May books then you will love her once you start reading and if you contact her I'm sure she would be glad to send you a free book or two in exchange for reviews...I've read every one of her books and love every one of them
Thank you to Net Galley, the publishers and the author for an ARC Copy.
This book is a four star book.
A former Middle East foreign correspondent, Matt Rees is an expert on the war on terror. With his new ICE Thriller series, he opens the door to a part of United States Homeland Security that has rarely been explored before.
This fast-paced, action-packed first in a new thriller series from Rees—best known for The Fourth Assassin and three other crime novels featuring Palestinian sleuth Omar Yussef—introduces Dominic Verrazzano, a former Green Beret and current U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) special agent.
When a doctor specializing in chemical weapons is murdered on the doorstep of the ICE Manhattan offices while trying to reach Verrazzano, the agent becomes entangled in a mystery surrounding a plot to unleash a chemical attack somewhere in New York City.
Verrazzano travels from New York to Syria and back again battling a wide variety of bad guys every step of the way. It seemed like he was near death every few pages in this story, Threats ranged from sarin gas to drowning to every hazard in between.
My thoughts are great action story with a difference, well paced, great characters in his Ice Team.
I will look forward to the next in the series.
I know Tom Bale has a lot of fans, but I couldn't finish his latest book.

Congrats! I only have five to go.
Since the book was available for free via Amazon Prime, I decided to try The Mystery at Underwood House, second in the Angela Marchmont series set in 1920s England (put off by reviewers of first book saying she barely appears). Not a bad choice, sort of a less flambouyant Mrs. Bradley.
Just started
Judith Wants To Be Your Friend by Annie Weir; listening to
All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven; and just finished
Baby Doll by Hollie Overton https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished Everybody's Fool
by Richard Russo. This comic novel is set in the downtrodden town of North Bath, in upstate New York. Full of fun characters and zany situations. Highly recommended. 4 stars.

I started The Trespasser
by Tana French. Off to another interesting start. I'm in awe of the way she is able to show you another side of a character from a previous novel by writing the next book in his/her voice. She's amazing.
Finished in 2 days Julius by Daphne du Maurier. I am so surprise with the book, first i thought it's a thriller book, which is apparently not. But i really enjoy the story, Daphne really wrote it nicely and many surprise i found on it. So love it! Now, i start reading Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberly McCreight. So far, i can not wait until the end.
I finally read
I realize there's a million reviews for this one already, and I didn't have any unique perspective to offer, but here it is anyway: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
