Leviathan Wakes and Thousand Names were both very enjoyable for me. Both series largely get better with each book too I think.

I'm going to try to start Radiance today after an 11th hour (almost literally) finish of Game Over: How Nintendo Conquered the World. I'm not sure how it will go; I started listening to the audiobook and couldn't remotely get into it, so we'll see how the Kindle edition goes. I see others saying that it's a odd style, it might not be for me. We shall see, I'm trying to keep an open mind.I also started Rise of Empire in audio. I love the narrator for these books.
I started reading Silicon Sky last year...I feel like I should really finish that this year. But with so much change, it's been depressing to read.

Yeah, Tim Gerard Reynolds is great. He's getting more work lately too.

I've set a personal record for lemming books in a short period of time... in addition to Radiance, I started and gave up on both The Dragon Waiting by John M. Ford and Quag Keep by Andre Norton. Dragon Waiting bored me, and I found Quag keep just horrible in the way the main character could hear a dice rolling in his head every time something happened.I did a Star Wars run burning through movies, comics, and Aftermath by Chuck Wendig and Lost Stars by Claudia Gray.
I've also read...
A Christmas Carol - Charles Dickens
The Sword in the Stone - T.H. White
The Last Olympian - Rick Riordan
and
The Year's Best Fantasy Stories 10
Finished up Skies of Pern this morning. Now into Carpe Jugulum. The last "Witches" Discworld book was fairly lame and I didn't like a lot of the plot developments regarding the third witch. I'm not looking forward to the plot of this one too much, as it's vampires (not a fave) plus the Witches. But I have been overall loving Discworld and am committed to reading them in order. So in that sense I'm not looking forward to the plot, but am looking forward to more Discworld satire and social commentary.
Perhaps this book will surprise me. Some of the Witch books have been top notch, but I find them really uneven.

So there's what I think of as an amazing scene at the climax of that one that really solidified my love of a certain character, I'm curious what you will think of it.
I haven't been reading much lately. After seeing Star Wars: The Force Awakens, I've decide to listen to the last two books in the William Shakespeare's Star Wars Trilogy. (I read the first one a long, long time ago.) I'm on William Shakespeare's The Jedi Doth Return. These books are really entertaining. I can't imagine doing anything other than audio for them though. R2D2 and Chewbacca's asides are hysterical.i'm hoping to finish Terminal Island before I go back to work on Monday. I've been reading it on and off for a long time.
I'm also reading Apex. I really like this series.
I'm reading Neuromancer right now while I wait for Radiance to show up in the mail. After that I'm probably going to read one of the S&L picks that I missed last year.
Started Archivist Wasp which so far (a couple of chapters in) is quite good. I'll start Radiance soon but need to block out some time that's not bedtime to read since I think I'll need to be more alert to follow it. Spent some time trying to figure out a way to connect Calibre with the iOS reader app I use (Marvin) but... no luck. Keeping my GR list, my Calibre library and the collections on Marvin synced is basically impossible so I'm manually doing a TBR shelf finally. Talk about scary...
Just started Thief's Magic by Trudi Canavan, Promise of Blood by Brian McClellan, and Mort by Terry Pratchett.

Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices are my most favorite series ever ever.
Working on Radiance.. not sure I'm sold on it yet.
Also Reading Dreams of Gods and Monsters so I can finish the series.
Got a kindle for christmas and my husband signed me up for kindle unlimited... I found several books on my to read list that are offered free-so I'll probably work my way through them next.
Starting off the year w/ Radiance. Most likely going to follow up w/ Star Wars: The Force Awakens to fill in some of the gaps. Actually bought both so might swap the order too.
I am reading this month's pick Radiance.Furthermore i started reading Agent to the Stars, which i am really enjoying so far.
Catching up on reviews for the audiobooks I finished at the end of the year.
Lost Stars was ok, but not really my type of book. (My Review)
Fortress Frontier was much better than the first one. (My Review)
Breach Zone was a decent ending, but not quite as good as the second book. (My Review)

I finally finished Downbelow Station. It took too long for my liking but I did enjoy it.Now moving on to The Bone Labyrinth by James Rollins, a series that I've enjoyed for awhile. And also going to try my hand at Traitor's Blade by Sebastien de Castell. People seem to like it.
Joanna wrote: "So there's what I think of as an amazing scene at the climax of that one that really solidified my love of a certain character, I'm curious what you will think of it. ."Just finished...want to spoiler-protect the plot point? I can think of one that made me really laugh, but I'm not sure that's the one.
(view spoiler)
I just started reading Dune by Frank Herbert. I saw the movie years ago and this is the first time I've read the book. So far it has been first-rate.
Lars André wrote: "Starting to read book two of Old Man's War series."Is it better than the first one so far? Didn't like it very much, but the universe was intriguing enough.
Tobias: Have just started. A lot of world building at first, but I think the story is interesting. I'm looking forward to the rest of the story.
Lars André wrote: "Starting to read book two of Old Man's War series."I read the first 4 last year and they were top of my list for 2015. Scalzi always makes me laugh.
Grabbed, for the hell of it, a book by an author I didn't know, Beyond Redemption and hit paydirt. Excellent fantasy with a different spin. The basic premise is that belief shapes reality in this world and that the people who believe most strongly in things are.... well... crazy. The 'magic' thus comes from various mental illnesses that each come with their own unique and sometimes terrible costs.
I started on Reaper's Gale in print. I had The Perfect Weapon already downloaded in audible so I started listening to that on my commute this morning - it's short, under two hours. Tomorrow I'll start on The Fifth Season in audio since it appears I already bought it a while back. Anyone else do it in audio? Is it amenable to audio or detail oriented and better in print?
Finished Abaddon's Gate and started Mycroft Holmes. Parts of Abaddon's Gate sort of tried my patience(all those preacher chapters...), but it pulled together at the end.
The next book, Cibola Burn, might possibly try your patience a little too, but persevere! Nemesis Games is absolutely fantastic.
@Olivia-Dune is one of my favorites, one of the few books I reread from time to time.@Rick-Agreed. Beyond Redemption was a great change from the typical setting.
Just started The Girl with Ghost Eyes
Just 2 hours ago, I started Rendezvous in Black by Cornell Woolrich, which I have had from my library for over a month now (just too many comics to read first). Only 20 pages in, but I like it so far. Love me a good tale of revenge.

I did. I always review the audio part. You didn't check your friend's reviews? For shame. ^_^

Audio of Assassination Vacation, ebook of Radiance and the hardcover of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Love Sarah Vowell's snarky take on history, love discussing the S&L picks with the Orange County S&L who meet on the last Sunday of the month and finally GrrM's short adventures of Dunk & Egg.
I am paralyzed by indecision. I asked for no books for Christmas and got like 12 books, all of them enticing.

Assign them numbers and roll 2d6.

Just finished Dust in one sitting. Like, a few breaks, but in one day. Myup.I also recently finished The Lies of Locke Lamora, and am now starting Red Seas Under Red Skies.
Good, strong start to the year considering I've been on an all time low on reading last year.

Two words: Space Engineers.
Just reread God Stalk By P.C. Hodgell. Love this book and looking forward to reading the other 6 books in the series.
I've started this month's S&L pick and I'm completely loving it, so far (I'm on page 55).I'm also reading Almanac of the Dead and Titus Groan.
Just started Going After Cacciato by Tim O'Brien.. Not bad so far.. Not quite as good as The Things They Carried but I'm still enjoying it.
Ivi_kiwi wrote: "I am reading this month's pick Radiance.Furthermore i started reading Agent to the Stars, which i am really enjoying so far."
Nice synergy there, with Hollywood+Sci Fi! Agent to the Stars may not be the best Scalzi but it is my favorite Scalzi.
I've been going through Sanderson, and just finished The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance (I was sick for a few days so managed to conquer those giant tomes quickly). I'm down to only his short form novels left on my list, and have begun The Alloy of Law.
And then Radiance. The second book of the month with the word Radiance in it.
Armada by Ernest Cline, because I bought it as a hard back. So far it's not as bad as everyone makes out:) It's a teenage boys wish fulfillment and thus a good follow up to Arrows of the Queen which was a teen girls wish fulfillment.

If you like Agent of the Stars, another book I think you may enjoy is Year Zero by Rob Reid. It's a similar writing style to Scalzi, but it has a compleatly differant take on another entertainment industry. It almost works as a counter point.
