Nina | 6069 comments I am reading again, "The Shell Seekers," and enjoying it just as much as I did thirty years ago. I first had a hard back but someone else must have it now as it's no longer in my bookcase. However, sometime in the past I must have picked up a used paperback of the same title and now as I read it I find on the inside of the back cover notes pertaining to a Muslim philosophy. How did I ever come to be sharing a book with a Muslim?

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments RE: The Shell Seekers BY Rosamunde Pilcher

I never read that book. It sounded boring.

message 1007: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments It is England before, during and after WWII and the effects of those times on the citizens. Very good writing and because I was a teen during those times it was of interest to me. If I had lived there rather than in the states I very well could not have been alive now.

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments My OverDrive doesn't have it. Otherwise I would try it. (The Shell Seekers)

You can watch "Indiscreet" free on YouTube. Stars Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman. My favorite movie.

Nina | 6069 comments Watching "The Outlander," on Netflix. It is pretty exciting; time changes back a couple of hundred years and that's as far as I've gotten.

Oh, that's frustrating, but you're watching the TV series, right? It's only done 3 seasons. A 4th is coming soon with a 5th & 6th already given the OK. You can read more about it here:

Earl (read_for_entertainment) | 375 comments Netflix has Seasons 1 - 4 right now. Season 1 Vol 1 (2014) has 8 episodes, so 8 hours, maybe that's what you just finished?. So if you're dealing with Netflix you've got a bunch of hours to go before you finish Season 4.

message 1021: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Thanks, Linda. I'll tell The Boss. I liked Clancy's first books a lot, but he went downhill for me after a while. I think I read all of the Jack Ryan series, but it was a long time ago - 10 or 15 years. I tried one of the Special Ops books he supposedly wrote with another author & detested it.

I don't know if we'll try the TV series or not. We really liked the movies, especially the Hunt for Red October.

message 1022: by Linda (new)

Linda (goodreadscomlinda_p) | 1251 comments We watched the first Episode of Jack Ryan. My husband said it was boring. Hmmmm. Sometimes the first episodes aren't great as they try to put too much in the show to set the scene and "tell" about the characters. Yes, violence. We'll try the second episode and then I'll read the reviews. Don't want to be swayed one way or the other.

I didn't see Hunt for Red October, not yet anyway.

Nina | 6069 comments Watching Season 3 our the "Outlander" but Netflix has Season 4 in the Save section and I have never been able to retrieve anything from Save.

message 1024: by Linda (new)

Linda (goodreadscomlinda_p) | 1251 comments Are you still enjoying the Outlander now that you are on Season 3?

message 1025: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments It is exciting but hope by the time Season four comes I hope the plot doesn't leave me dangling because that season is in the Save slot and that means I will never get it in my lifetime.

message 1026: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments I'm on Season 3 disc 4 and then disc 5 is the last of this series and we are unable to get Season 4. Yes, it does keep my interest.

Nina | 6069 comments Whoever mentioned Netflix "The Outlander," we finished the Season 3 series and can't get Season 4. Does anyone else who is able to watch # 4 know if they ever found Ian. I hate when they leave you hanging. This happens more then once on Netflix.

Season 4 is apparently 2018, pretty recent to appear available in Netflix. It apparently is only 1 disk? Short season. I can add Season 4 to my DVD queue, but it goes in with all the other stuff I've requested that isn't available yet. As soon as Netflix gets it it'll jump up into the main queue. Do you get dvds in the mail or do you stream? Streaming doesn't reliably have captions, which i need so don't even try to use it. I Googled Starz, who airs Outlander and they have a 'free' trial. (to watch shows on your computer) I hate getting entangled in those 'freebie' things myself but it might be worth your while if you're really desperate to watch your show. I expect they let you watch archived episodes, I don't know. The cheap tv channels like FX let you watch shows you've missed for free. Starz is paid though.

message 1033: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments Thanks for your comments. I don't have Netflix streaming and guess I'll wait until season 4 comes up. When I checked it was on Save and no detail of when it might be available. I probably won't get involved in any other viewing method.
