Mary JL wrote: "Linda, I almost always prefer the book to the movie--they have to make so many cuts to fit everything in a two hour movie slot.

Mary - seen them all. Growing up we had the records from these movies as well. Got pretty worn out!!

My husband said I found a movie by one of the authors you like - David Baldacci.
Starring Josh Lucas and Ellen Burstyn (great actress)
Set in Virginia. Panoramic shots of the fields at fall time. Beautiful.
Little boy who plays Oz has the most adorable face. Young girl and her brother due to a tragedy go to live with their grandmother played by Ellen Burstyn in Virginia.
Movie is good. Don't want to have any spoilers - so I will just say there were loose spots in the movie - such as when someone was ill no one stayed to care for them - they all went out for the day as usual.

Enjoyable - beautiful scenery.

Wish You Well BY David Baldacci
Adapted to film: "Filmed entirely in beautiful southwest Virginia, Wish You Well stars Josh Lucas (Sweet Home Alabama), Mackenzie Foy (The Twilight Saga, Interstellar) and Academy Award winner Ellen Burstyn."

"A tragic accident forces Lou and her brother Oz to move from New York to live with their great grandmother on a farm in Virginia. Their family is threatened to be torn apart again when a coal company tries to steal their land. "

I found 5 different movies called "A Dog of Flanders".

Saw this in movie theatre on a date - had to be the last ones to leave because I cried so very hard. Didn't even want my date to see me but alas at one point I had to get up. Hid my face when we got to the lobby. Then, it was nighttime so I didn't have to be concerned. (I'm fair skinned and my face gets red and blotchy when I have a deep cry.)
