Hi ladies. this has happened a lot to me lately...guys looking for a date. To get rid of them just go up to the top right hand corner of Goodreads, the 4th column that says friends, and when on that page of your friends, click edit at the top of the page and click the X at the far right of the person you want to get rid of. Good luck. Sue

J.B. (goodreadscomjbmorrisauthor) It just makes me sick that women have to put up with this garbage. I encountered the same problem on Twitter. So sad.

I had someone sending me a Hi How are you doing? everyday for 4 days, and I sent back a response that I am married, and he responded with "Do you have any kids?" You can't correspond with them or it just leads them on. I deleted him from my friend list now. So sad. Sue

I've been getting so many friend requests from spam accounts or young women looking for for hot dates!! Maybe they can see a beard in my profile pic!!! 😉 😀 😁

Thank you so much for your help. I followed your direction and was able to delete the “friendship”.

I agree you cannot engage at all. There was one person inboxing me. They didn’t say anything terrible but comments were just “off” and not discussing books etc. That time I wasnt on their friend list and I just completely ignored the messages. Eventually they moved on. It’s so unfortunate.

Thanks again Sue!

Yes

I report them to Goodreads editors.

Although I am amazed they come back saying some are genuine members !

They will remove any links on their pages that are deemed unfit... re hot girls.

Lynn Renee | 1707 comments I just blocked someone that sent me a friend request like this. I’ve learned to investigate what I can but you can still make a mistake. Instagram has been a burr in my side lately, getting notices of new people following me right and left when I haven’t been posting anything for months. They are all a bunch of creepers. (Shudder)

Luvtoread (Trying to catch up) | 1697 comments Very frustrating sometimes! Recently, I keep getting people with no books, no friends etc. But lately ( almost every day ) some people are listing many friends but don't have any books listed at all!!

message 10513: by J.B. (new)

J.B. (goodreadscomjbmorrisauthor) I have friends and few books. There are some people like me who are undisciplined readers. And reading is such a treat.

Luvtoread (Trying to catch up) | 1697 comments J.B., I should correct myself. These people don't participate in any groups or conversations and have no other information about themselves.

I always check the accounts when I get a friend request. Have had a couple of spam accounts, having certain sexual texts and links in their description. Immediately reported them so they got deleted. Unfortunately they easily make new accounts and try it again.

Please note, it seems I have noticed a new ,maybe rule from Goodreads.

If a subject has NO new posts for 3 months, they disappear from your home page.

Last couple of days our music section and true crime went.

The only way to get the back is with a new post, from the new post/discussion.

Right now off to tennis.

Lately,

busy with garden, loads and loads of fruit. Busy at work, playing tennis.

This time of the year my favourite for the grass court tennis and the return of Sir Andy Murray, who I have been just watching.

He has reached the final with his partner Feliciano Lopez, who has also reached the singles final.

And always busy reading.

message 10529: by Lynn Renee (new)

Lynn Renee | 1707 comments Well I’m glad to be home even though it was really nice to see some friends and family that I haven’t seen in years. I spent the last four days visiting my sister and her family, my son, and of course my parents. My oldest grandson graduated high school so I went down to celebrate with him at his graduation party. Boy my daughter and son in-law had enough food left over to have four more parties lol.

All in all a great time but my body is ready for a few days to recuperate from the trip.

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments We just had another earthquake. I live in Orange County about 170 miles from the epicenter but it was violent and lasted almost 1 minute. They estimate that it was 6.9 to 7.1 this time. Much bigger.

Hope all our members are safe...

Yesterday, I received a signed photo, and I have not sent any requests for three years, no time now.

Believe it or not?

This was from Elizabeth McGovern who was in Downton Abby, never watched it.

It took 8 years and 3 months !!!

The slowest signed photo EVER.

PamG (lynguy1) | 2510 comments I have a question for the group. I finished a NetGalley book and it is not on Goodreads. I requested it to be added (in the Librarians discussion group) a couple of days ago and it still hasn't been added. What is the expected time that it takes to have a new book added? With page counts, etc., it has always been extremely quick.

Not sure Pam G

Friday last week I received a phone call on my mobile.

Announcing I had won first prize in a raffle ticker I bought while we did our craft show at St Quens Manor.

Brand new Apple Watch Series 4 and 44mm face, and also the Airpods, with charge carrier case...

Not a bad prize and made the day better success for us...

We sold both on Facebook local sell and buy page......

a great success, and very lucky

Perri | -43 comments It IS from the survey couple of years ago. I definitely recognize Sean and I have pretty good guesses for some others in this group. I was quoted too. I just skimmed it, I don't think it's something I'd necessarily recommend but it was interesting,
