Sadly no....

I do not think she realised how much she upset people, but over the threeb years she has joined, many complaints and warnings.

Waiting is horrible..for my wife and me..

I guess I am also recovering from the very sad news on Friday of

Sir Andy Murray.

Tennis will never quite be the same...

3 grand slams, 1 Davis Cup winner, 2 Olympic golds, year end number 1 and 45 titles.....

Perri | -43 comments I'm sure if was a difficult decision, but important for the good of the group. Nothing to add from what PK, Brenda and Susanne have said so well, but thanks to you and Janet for making the hard call.

Sean, this is a tough week for you. Sending good thoughts and warm wishes from across the pond

Sean, and Janet, I know this was a very difficult decision and I feel for you both. That being said, I'm relieved I will no longer have to see Amber being controlling and rude to people. I used to want to contact everyone she had been awful towards! Other times I just wanted to walk away from Good Thriller. I agree with what Susanne said: "No one should feel unwelcome, endure rudeness, or any other toxic behavior."

You two truly are appreciated.

Thank you for your kind words. It was a decision that was not made lightly and an issue discussed a few times before. I don't think Amber is malicious more that she has an abrasive manner that I don't think she is aware of. Or she doesn't care, I don't know. I discussed it with her a few times and she would behave for a while, only to resort to her old ways again. Ultimately we had to think of the bigger picture and go with that. I'm fearing a backlash but I guess we'll see.

In other news, I have been Spring cleaning, in Winter!! I've been sorting out bookcases and a fair few books are going to charity. I don't see the point of holding onto books I've read and will never read again.

Fingers crossed for your cat, Sean.

No Melanie, I had my surgery done at Sunnybrooke Hosptal in Toronto by Dr Chew who trained in the USA for this procedure. No cost as done in the hospital. Sue

Thank you for that information, I’m close enough to TO that surgery there is an option. Here in London and area many people go to the Ivey Eye Institite. Love of reading will eventually spur me on to action! It is wonderful to know it’s covered. Now just get past the nerves.

message 10366: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (meldoc) | 634 comments Janet please know that we all appreciate the difficulty of the decision you had to make. Thank you for Moderating the group. I often message Sean simply because I had gotten to “know” him before you.

In terms of backlash I understand that type of anxiety. I’m wishing everyone, including Amber quick healing through this tough process and on to better things in 2019.

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments I had cataract surgery at St. Joseph's in Orange, Ca. My friend waited in the lobby and was handed a little dog that the hospital uses. We thought that was a great idea. In fact, they gave us a little card with his picture on it when my surgery was finished (since he is probably famous).

By the way, the surgery is totally painless and fairly quick.

Thanks Melanie. I didn't think this surgery was free at a Eye Institute. At Sunnybrooke Hospital they have their own ophthalmologist, specialising in each type of surgery. Call through to Dr. Chew's office, and mention my name as they know me well, and ask if Dr Chew could see you, or who he would recommend you to a hospital in London, ON. My full name is Sue Leonhardt. Good luck.

message 10370: by Lynn Renee (new)

Lynn Renee | 1707 comments I sincerely feel bad that Amber has been banned from the group. Speaking as someone who has had a few issues with her, never reporting her though. I just made the decision to cut back on my involvement in various group activities to lessen any unwanted interaction.

Brenda and Christine, A few years back I decided to give away all of the books I had accumulated. Feeling they would be better appreciated by someone else reading them than just sitting on my shelves. Unfortunately I am unable to do that with my kindle or audio books. At least as far as I know.

Thank you all...

Milly stayed all night at the vets, on a drip and had injections.

They think it was the injection that made her wobbly not a stroke..

We are collecting her from the vets at lunchtime...

But we know Milly is struggling, has IBS and the vets cannot quite get her tablets right and Milly stops eating and goes very weak.

Sadly we all know when we see our own pets/family get older it hurts so much as deep down you know they do not have too long..

But we will always make the right decision of what is best for Milly.

But at the moment I am sure she will be happy to come home and see her brother Buddy.

P.K. Davies | 549 comments Sean, I agree about Andy; very sad, especially for him. But I hope and think he will continue to be a great asset to British tennis.
Good luck with Millie; you can only make her comfortable and free from pain.
Eye surgery; It seems so many of you are afraid of having it done. There is really nothing to it. I had to have urgent surgery on one eye (macular pucka, pressure builing on the macular so that it was in danger of breaking) and then catarract removal on other. i wish all surgery was so simple and harmless. I even enjoyed watching the surgeon peeling off the catarract and then sticking on the new lens. I wanted to say, ' Hey. You are not quite at the edge of the eye' sure enough I could see the edge of the new lens for weeks afterwards which was annoying. But it soon settled down. Go for it. There's nothing to it.

Good news about Milly.

PK, omg that's very um chilled. Glad everything went well with your surgery.

message 10380: by Sandy (new)

Sandy | 188 comments I had both my eyes done at the age of 40 - the most annoying thing was that everyone in the doctor's office kept saying "you had cataract surgery - really? at your age?" It was a piece of cake and the best thing about it was that for this first time since I was 5 years old I could see the clock next to my bed in the middle of the night.

I too watched my father's cataract surgery and it was really a very interesting surgery - not sure I would have wanted to watch my own though...

Jean | 2387 comments Sorry to hear about Amber. I am not sure how much control she had over her comments, but one person can certainly make things unpleasant for many. I hope she can learn from this. Thank you, Sean and Janet for all you do.
Sean, Chris and I certainly understand what having a sick kitty does to your heartstrings! We have a Milly who was very sick this fall from acute renal failure. She needed two surgeries, and then her heart stopped two days later. She was hospitalized for two weeks, but three months later, she is her spunky self again. She’s Milly the Wonder Cat, thanks to many fine folks at Iowa State University. I wish you a miracle for your Milly too! If not, be there for her and give her all the love you can while she’s still with you. She’ll let you know what’s best.

message 10394: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) I'm sorry to hear about Amber too. But I can see why people would object to things she said. I have had "words" with her. But I just learned to let water go off my back. I don't think she's malicious, or mean, just very strong in her beliefs.

She calls things like she sees them. I hope no one left this group because of her. But I am also sorry to see her go as she was always fun to see what tangent she would go off on.

Then again, the whole point is to keep this group the friendliest on GR!
