I know what you mean, Lenora! You notice I gave it only 1 star. It was trying to be profound but instead it came across as if the author was pretty high on drugs while writing!

Debbie, after I reached Mr. Bennet's Library I added the non-JAFF in - there aren't that many for me but we are tied if we count your non-JAFFs. I have a goal of reviewing all the books I read so I add those to give others an idea for whether they want to read that book or not.

I do plan to begin to read some of those Jane Eyre FanFic I saw reviewed, i.e, Sophia, now that I reached 200 but I have some more JAFF in line also. I have the last of the 8 main Outlander books on my kindle also.

Debbie-almost there!!!!! Keep those pages turning!!!

message 1825: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 623 comments Sheila, Debbie, I am dizzy with all those big numbers. Whew!!! I am way behind you so if you feel like someone is following you...just ignore it. Buahaha! I got that new word from Sophia. I love it. let me tell you, next year I am setting a lower challenge. I had not idea it was so hard to keep up. Whew!

Congrats to all that are stepping on up. Keep up the reading. Yeah for Mr. Bennet's Library and BEYOND!!!

message 1826: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments J.W. You can set a lower goal and then change it as you reach that and strive for higher. This is suppose to be a pleasure not a hardship. But it seems that you are doing very well indeed.

message 1827: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 623 comments You will be surprised to know that I have changed that challenge at least 3 times already before setting the goal of 200 books read for 2016. I have several non JAFF that puts me as about 159. I am reading the shorter novellas...in case you had not noticed. I just wanted to reach this goal and your are right...it should be fun.

Next year I'm setting my goal at 100 books so I can have a life. There are several longer books that I would like to read and simply enjoy the task rather than feel I need to rush and get to the next book. I may not make it beyond Mr. Bennet's Library next year, but that is ok. There is exalted company in all the levels and I shall enjoy each and every one. Look out y'all...just saying.

Super numbers you're bringing in, Debbie. I love seeing the high ratings on some books I have my eyes on like Caroline's Fate. :)

Mary, your comment brought back a happy memory for me!

When my husband and I started dating, he had a single tall bookshelf, crammed to overflowing with books. So for some gift-giving holiday (I don't recall which one), I bought him a second tall bookcase. We're both avid readers, so of course he kept acquiring books and filled that 2nd bookcase up pretty quickly.

When we got our first little place together, we had to find room for both his and my bookshelves. Each time we moved, it seemed, that there were more and more bookshelves involved. We joked about building a house by simply adding a roof on top of all the bookshelves!

We're now quite contented ebook (kindle) readers, so the physical bookshelf needs are relatively stable. Only a precious few authors (mostly those we actually know) still are acquired in both ebook and paper format. But still... a house will never seem like a home to me without an unusually large number of bookshelves filled with old friends!

Love your story! I agree that a house without books(helves) is not a home to me. :)

message 1835: by Mary (new)

Mary | 452 comments Ladymurmur-who knew my words would take you down memory lane???
Couldn't agree with you more,a home isn't a home without bookshelves housing much loved, oft read books that never fail to trigger happy memories!!

Mary | 452 comments Dare I ask if your hubby still possesses the original bookcase you gifted him so many moons ago?? Has it stood the test of time?

While we bought all the bookshelves all at different stores at different times, they're all a pretty standard color and style, so are very hard to tell apart. We do still have them ALL, though! :-)

48. The Abominable Mr. Darcy: A Pride and Prejudice Variation - 2 Stars ☆☆
There were enjoyable parts, but the majority of the time this variation barely kept my interest.

49. Mr. Darcy Makes Advances - 2.5 Stars ☆☆☆
Originally Read: July 10, 2012 - 1 Star
Pure wanton trash! Yet, I could not stop laughing when Mr. Darcy "misplaced" his breeches in the woods. And poor Richard! Amusing... but still trash.
09/07/2016 Update: As I am much more liberal with my JAFF since 2012, I will re-read in the near future and update from that point of view
Second Read: September 7, 2016 - 2.5 Stars
As stated above, this is pure wanton trash ;) but entertaining trash and considerably more fun if taken lightly and for what it is.
( New rating based on that viewpoint )

50. Infamous Relations: A Pride And Prejudice "What If?" Tale - 4 Stars ☆☆☆☆
An exciting variation that you will not be able to put down. Would liked to have more of a conclusion for Jane though - loved her in this and the direction I assumed it was heading!

51. The Mistress of Longbourn - 3.5 Stars ☆☆☆

52. Side by Side, Apart - 3.5 Stars ☆☆☆

53. Waking to Mr. Darcy: A Pride and Prejudice Novella - 3.5 Stars ☆☆☆☆
Mr. Darcy is an attentive nursemaid and impressive protector of an injured Elizabeth.

This variation begins after Jane’s convalescence at Netherfield, but before the ball, during the rain storm described as happening then in Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

Elizabeth is escaping Mr. Collins’ presence and is hurt in the woods during the downpour. She stumbles across a hunting cabin… and into the arms of Mr. Darcy!

“How does one come to terms with marrying a man she despises? Sometimes, it just takes a shift in perspective.”

At this point in time, Elizabeth’s dislike of Mr. Darcy has not festered long, yet Mr. Darcy already cares enough about Elizabeth to be apologetic and unhappy about her being placed in a forced marriage scenario for her own sake. This makes for a rather sweet journey to understanding each other and a happily ever after.

Waking to Mr. Darcy is a pleasingly sweet, quick romantic read - 3.5 Stars. ♡

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 623 comments Look at you guys...I am in a reading marathon and look what y'all have done while I'm off line. Plus, my hard-drive decided to rebel and not act as designed. It is in the hands of the tech as I type this.

Man what a time for it to act up. I am at my local library using the public computer in order to make this post. Hopefully, that person looking over my shoulder just might decide to read several of the books I have posted. Or they are simply watching me type for the sheer fun of it. Or they are looking at me, as I sit on my purse, and are wondering if I am sane. I hate to tell them that is in serious question.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. You are resourceful. I would just wait for the tech to fix my PC and not attempt to locate a public one. Good for you.
