Claudine DiMuzio / Just Jane 1813 | 224 comments Thank you, Mary and Sheila. It feels so good to get that list posted... Finally!!

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 623 comments @1541 Claudine...between 71 & 72 Love & Friendship is listed without a number. So, that really puts you a number ahead. Yeah!

message 1553: by Barb (new)

Barb (barblibrarian1) Claudine - the list is amazing - WTG! I know I am going slower this year as I am writing longer reviews for my blog, which takes time away from the reading. I am betting you are finding that to be true as well, with your blog. I have no worries you will reach the 101 by the end of the year!

Anji - you are still in my thoughts and I am sending warm, healing vibes your way - hope you are right and this "kicks in".

message 1554: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments Claudine, the fact that you are able to read and review so many books AND write a blog AND work full-time at a demanding job AND be a wife and mother is just awe-inspiring. I don't know how you do it all!

message 1555: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments Anji, I'm praying that your patience will be rewarded with freedom from the pain. I can only imagine how frustrated you must feel - as well as tired and cranky with the whole situation. Keep the faith, girl! We're all pulling for you here.

Debbie (dmbrown) | 849 comments Claudine, how did you feel about 1876: A Pride & Prejudice Reimagining? I haven't read that one yet, though I did read The Wit & Wisdom of Wilde and enjoyed it. The only posted review was a DNF because of editing errors.

I think Claudine has one of those time turner things that Hermione has in Harry Potter. Either that or superpowers! I don't know how else she does it all :)

message 1558: by Claudine (new)

Claudine DiMuzio / Just Jane 1813 | 224 comments Thanks Ceri and Debbie, you're both making a blush!! I appreciate your really kind and supportive words.

Debbie, I have tried to read all of her books, and some I just had to abandon. 1876 would be 3.5-4 star read for me. I liked it because the history with women's rights is interesting, and the study between Darcy and Elizabeth remains as the main focus almost from start to finish, which I enjoyed too. The book starts with them as a much older couple, sitting with their adult children, ready to listen to an important news story? So it was nice seeing them from thy perspective too.

However, the author even admits in the endnotes that she added characters from history that may have impeded the flow/progress of the book as bit, which I think is true, but I still enjoyed the story. If you decide to read it, I'd love to know what you thought of the book!

Thanks Barbara. I am going slower because of the blog and because I am picky about what I read as well. I abandon more books than I'd like to admit!!

I really appreciate your encouragement!!

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments So you are in the library...sneaking in some time ago and which book shelf have you been hiding behind? Welcome, welcome...come out, come out where ever you are and have a glass of champagne.

message 1578: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 623 comments You know Lenora we are so glad to have you. I hope you found the softest most comfortable chair. Mr. Bennet's Library has the best furniture and we have it arranged so we can fellowship together. We want everyone to feel right at home and are so glad you are here.

message 1581: by Barb (new)

Barb (barblibrarian1) Wow, Lenora and Sheila you are all setting the bar so high! But, I am going to make it. Up to 57 now. But, I will be out of the country for the month of October - visiting Poland and England. I think I may have to hit 101 before I go...

I am very excited to read some of the titles you have listed that are not yet on my list. Wait - I thought the point was to whittle the list down!

Oh no - looks like I will be ready with a nice long list for 2017, too, Sophia!

message 1582: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments Oh, enjoy your trip to Poland and England. That's better than sitting at home reading. Even though we can visit all over the universe in our stories, nothing beats the real deal.

message 1583: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 623 comments Barb, have a safe trip.
Great thoughts toward the 2017 challenge.

Super! Have a great time on your trip. And you are well on your way to conquering Mr. Bennet's library.

Haha! I think I could have this challenge for ten years and still not be caught up on my TBR pile.

message 1586: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 623 comments Sophia...
scientists are on the look out for scientific proof that there is an exponential growth gene embedded somewhere within the TBR pile of serious readers. It has been rumored for years and is as elusive as the Loch Ness. No matter what one does, the TBR pile will continue to grow. And that is science.

Buahaha! I am inclined to believe in this scientific proof, Jeanne!

message 1588: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments Yes, that would explain so many of the mysteries. Thanks for sharing the info.

message 1589: by Barb (new)

Barb (barblibrarian1) You guys are so funny! Thanks for the warm thoughts about my trip. I am so looking forward to it. I will be speaking in English to Polish school children that may have never spoken with a native English speaker. I am nervous, but so looking forward to it! And, England is just a fun few days on my way back home.

BTW My TBR pile would not keep growing if there were just fewer interesting books written! What's with the authors? ;-)

message 1590: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 623 comments Yeah, what's up with them? Sneaky bunch :D

message 1591: by Carol (new)

Carol Perrin | 16 comments Sophia, I agree there's something about the TBR stack. I keep reading, but the stack keeps growing exponentially to what's been read. Bought 3 new books today while I need to finish the one I'm reading. Either I need to read faster or the many writers need to slow down. Haha!

message 1592: by Carol (new)

Carol Perrin | 16 comments Barb, how does one find such a spectacular opportunity?

message 1593: by Mary (new)

Mary | 452 comments 'An exponential growth gene....?' Jeanne, thank heavens for your explanation!!! I was getting seriously worried about our TBR lists....but now that you've explained it,it makes perfect sense!!

Jeanne-the works needs more people like you;)!

message 1594: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 277 comments Had to look up the word 'exponential'. That's what comes of leaving school early. Thank God I'm a reader or I'd be completely thick :)

message 1595: by Teresa (new)

Teresa | 277 comments Oh and I must be one of those, what ever they are cos my TBR pile is growing by the day. And getting worse since I joined GR!!!

message 1596: by J. W. (new)

J. W. Garrett (jeannewallacegarrett) | 623 comments OK guys no worries. The exponential gene is not contagious to humans. It is like a virus for our TBR pile. We remove one book and two takes it place...and so on and so on.

All joking aside...the TBR pile of every single one of us continues to grow. That is where I got the exponential idea. It is 2 to the second power. It doubles and then doubles again.

Did you know that my TBR pile had the audacity to grow larger than the books I have read this year? Yeah, nefarious little buggers those genes.

message 1597: by Mary (new)

Mary | 452 comments Your TBR list had the barefaced cheek to grow larger than your 'read' list,Jeanne?
That's one brave TBR list!!☺️

message 1598: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 700 comments I just finished reading an unpublished story by Lucy S., Mr. Darcy: The man with a plan. It is a short story of a little over 100 pages. After Hunsford and the harsh words exchanged with his proposal and his letter to Elizabeth Mr. Darcy decides he needs a plan to prove to Elizabeth why they are best suited for each other.

Carol, I should point out that this is a volunteer endeavor. I am paying my way to Poland, they are arranging the speaking locations, and they will find me room and board while there. I am doing this through an organization call WIESCO. http://www.wiesco.org/
