Hey priya. I am in chennai too :) welcome to the group

I started reading with the odia novels and short story collections lying around my place when I was 6.Then my cousin introduced me to Harry Potter Collection and I feel like I didn't stop reading after that.I have read Harry Potter like a numerous times but it still feels fresh and new everytime I open it.Okay, enough of fangirling..
My favourite books are:
1.The Beast's Garden by Kate Forsyth
2.Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge
And a lot others.
Basically I like to read High Fantasy Romances but that's not a mandatory thing. As long as its written on pages and is dark and intense,I would read it.
I guess that's all about me.Thanks.
Welcome Bhavana and Priya :):)

Being an English teacher, any particular genre you don't like to read?
Welcome to the group. Glad to have you here.
Cheers!

There is no specific genres that I don't like. I'm really open-minded, I love to try, to discover and experiment new things. That's really important in my job actually, so I can discuss with my students. It's really enriching!

I attended Holy Cross College and the University of Ceylon in Sri Lanka. I am also a Chartered Accountant.
As a Chartered Accountant, I worked extensively in Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
In Zimbabwe I also turned Horticulturist and grew roses, for export to Europe, in a metal, plastic-covered greenhouse of extent one full hectare!
I was also a Lawn Bowls player and took part in Zimbabwe National Bowls Tournaments
I am now an author and have written four books. My first book, “Sri Lankan and Zimbabwean Memories”, is a collection of autobiographical reminiscences. My second book, “Hernando Villa: A Sri Lankan Love Story”, is a novel. My third book, “Turmoil at the Villa” is the sequel to “Hernando Villa” and my fourth book, "Unsuitable Boys!", is also a romantic adventure novel with a Sri Lankan background. https://www.amazon.com/author/terrenc...

I like reading Thriller, adventure, mystery, conspiracy and fantasy book. Not soo craxy about romance novels , they make me sad and weepy...lol
Some all time favourite authors of mine are : Dan Brown , John Grisham, Sydney Sheldon , Robert Ludlum. In recent times i have fallen i love with George R. R. Martin.
I think i am still old school . Can anyone recommend new books , authors i can check out ? I would be super grateful.
Thanks.
Welcome Halifa :)

I am interested in contacting writers and readers of books with Sri Lankan backgrounds.

Welcome Alok:)
I'm thinking of reading more non-fics this year, so you might help me in this. Maybe few recos, or a BR or two ;)

So far this group was dominated by classics, but its shifting towards non-fiction :)
Welcome once again.
How the group works?
Well, you can browse through what goes around in this group in its various threads here - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/list_...
Then we have a monthly group read where the members vote from a list of nominated books and the winning book is read as a group. For instance this month we're reading Matilda here - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
And you can nominate the book to be read in February here - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
You'll also get email notifications of planned monthly group activities at the start of each month.
There are various challenges, buddy reads, chit-chats (non-books too) but books and reading is what connects us all here.
Hope you'll have a good time here :)

I'm Drishti, a 15-year old high school student from India.
I'm quite open in my my genre preferences. Will read almost anything, be it historical fiction, classics, fantasy or contemporary!
Looking forward to having fun here! :D

My name is Jatin and I'm from Kolkata, India.
I love to read (quite obvious). My other interests are playing football, listen to songs, playing the piano and thinking.
My favourite authors are Rick Riordan, Jeffrey Archer, Durjoy Dutta, Stepehn Hawking and Dan Brown!!
I mostly read fiction, fantasy and adventure, but I'm open to all suggestions.
I love science. Physics to be specific. Space, time, dimensions, black holes and all.
My favourite series is the Heroes of Olympus and I staunchly believe that Percy Jackson is better than Harry Potter (and people hate me for that)
Guess I've said quite a lot. I'm new here at Goodreads and I'm looking forward to having a good time.
I'm glad I found this group.
Welcome Drishti!!
Glad you joined this group.
Have fun :)

Well, since I haven't read Percy Jackson series yet, so I won't hate you for that unpopular opinion of yours. Just kidding!
Hope you have a great time here :)
