Am I the only one who hates Annabeth?

You scared of arguing? That's what they say when they have no arguments *shakes head*

I'm not scared of arguing and don't shake your head at me! What did I ever say that implied I'm scared of arguing?? I just don't like Annabeth. She is annoying and the ultimate "Mary-Sue". She's described as intelligent, pretty, and being SO GOOD at everything. There is nothing even remotely interesting about her and she doesn't have any flaws whatsoever, (her flaw of having too much pride doesn't count). I'm not really good at arguments, other people can probably sum up why they dislike her better, but you get my point.

That's pretty rude of you. Some people just don't like Annabeth very much and they are allowed to express their opinions too. Deal with it.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're not bad at arguing XD, I was just trying to egg you on. Reverse psychology ;p
And I don't particularly want to start an argument (so many exams, agh) but I will say this: People argue that yes, Annabeth is a Mary Sue, but here's where things get a bit tricky. Mary Sue's are everywhere in literature, they're all unique Mary Sue's (give them that), but it all comes down to how an author decides to depict that 'Sue'. In Annabeth's case, if you look at her character profile without including her environment, her history, her friends, just her looks and characteristics, then she will come off as a smart, pretty blond whose fear of spiders and whose haughtiness comes off as admirable and cute.
But that's only if you look at her profile. And you see, in a story, to isolate one aspect is to rip the book apart. You have to look at it as a whole to really figure out if the characters are likable or not.
To sum this up, there's nothing wrong with Mary Sue's, the problem is how they are portrayed. With Ann's case, it only makes me love her more.

Yeah, right. She's the character with hardly any flaws. Reminds me of Ginny Weasley from Harry Potter and Bella from Twilight. She's the cliche character and is similar to MANY characters I've met.

many girls hate that other person who likes her crush and she had a bad experience with cyclopes and that made her treat tyson that way, you all would act the same way as annabeth except probably more distressed and confused because annabeth has training and smarts

1. my comment was in no regards to yours
2. i didnt even read your comment
3. im just saying my opinion

like Kamiko said, you think she's not awesome? That's fine, but if you can't support your argument than there's no question that there are no arguments against Annabeth

There's nothing wrong with arguing and taking sides. That's one thing that makes reading so much fun. Discussing things afterwards.

Lol, I could go on.

And fine, you want reasons and arguments? Go back in this thread and you'll find so MANY reasons that it'll tire your eyes out reading all of them!
Again no hard feelings and no offense but what I just said is the truth.

And yeah I kinda agree with you on this discussion :)

You know I really love you Neha...you have this great personality that even though you're an A lovers, you don't get mean and demanding but fight for your side all the same. You do it civilly and I admire that very much! And then you don't even hate on A haters and get friendly with them!
Hats off to you!

The name of the thread is practically calling on both Ann lovers and haters. The whole point is to engage in discussion, or else it's just: I like her, I don't, I do, I do, I don't. And on the other hand, I don't think anyone, certainly myself, was DEMANDING and explanation. You give or you don't, your choice.
But yeah, no hostility, lol

You're not the only one.... ME ME ME ME ME! I HATE Annabeth too! Thank goodness some people share my opinion on her. I'm not going to start a long rant because there are just so many things that make Annabeth so hateable. I hope Percy breaks up with her and finds a girl that's better.
