Felina Yeah. I would get mad except they look at me with their little faces and ten I melt. Stupid kitties.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 5312 comments I'm so excited. We haven't had a tree in the last two years but we're getting one this year. Yaaay!

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Romey just came running in from the kitchen, lept on the table and slid himself and the tree across it. Then he stood and looked at the tree like...

"what the...???"

That tree just came out of nowhere. I swear.

(My baby does the same thing.)

message 106: by Lee (new)

Lee | 939 comments I miss the smell of a Christmas tree more than the tree itself. I love that smell.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments How fast was the tree going?

message 108: by MrsJoseph *grouchy*, Bad Girls Deadlift (new)

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 5312 comments This makes me wonder: How will Benji deal with the tree?? He likes to chew plants. Will it hurt him?

Lee | 939 comments Mike (the Paladin) wrote: "How fast was the tree going?"

It was going the wrong way down a one-way street while under the influence of egg nog.

Found this- http://vetmedicine.about.com/od/toxic...

Says that Christmas trees can be mildly toxic and can irritate sensitive mouths. Also says to watch for treated water, it might have ingredients poisonous to pets.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Ours is artificial. Just a four foot tree on a table...deck the halls.

Hmmm. we have to think about this. If we do it the tree has to go up on a weekend so we can monitor how (and what!) benji does with it.

I don't have the money for a good fake tree but the live ones around here you can get for less that $25 most times. Closer to $20.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Yeah, but we've had this one 3 years...don't recall what it cost.

message 115: by Felina (new)

Felina I have a fake one this year (7 footer) but last year I had a real one. My cats licked both and no one got sick. Seriously, Elliot just sits under the tree and makes out with the stump...fake or real. Totally weird.

Christa (christaw) "Tigger's Christmas Gift" - A True Story

When I was in my late teens, we had a Pomeranian named Tigger. He was incredibly smart and incredibly weird. The first year we had him (he was already 1.5 yrs old when we got him) we got a fresh root-balled tree from a local Christmas tree farm. Brought it home, put it in a metal bucket and set everything up.

Tigger looked at it, looked at it some more, then went to the door and whined. We let him out, and he ran around the yard like his ass was on fire until he suddenly stopped, then went behind the trees on the edge of the yard.

We couldn't see what he was doing, but after mere seconds, he ran right back to the door. We let him in and he went to the tree and dropped a present beneath it.

One of his old, dried, frozen turds.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments The tree belonged outside...he was telling you. LOL.

message 120: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) He was just welcoming the tree home. Making it part of the family!

---

An update on the rearrangement of the library: all three bookcases are now upstairs and I just have to put the books back on. We incorporated a work area in the bedroom for me since I'll be worKing from home full time soon. (I contemplated using the guest room but it didn't work out. )
Also incorporated was one of the cat scratching posts/toys so they can get to the top of the bookcases and sleep. They love it already.

My cats have better living conditions than I do!

Oooooh!

Now I need to think of redesign, too...

message 124: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) It's a lot of work! I got rid of a ton of books when I moved but still getting them all on bookcases is a good game of Jenga.

Plus I have an entire Stephen King collection that I like to keep together. . But I'm contemplating breaKing it up between the two bookcases in the bedroom.

It's bad that temporary book shelving shOuld be this complicated.

Anything that's with book shelving is worth the effort.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments Cute story, Christa. :>

My cats pretty much leave the tree alone, with the exception of the lower hanging balls. All of our ornaments are plastic, though, so it's just a matter of finding the hooks and rehanging, usually.

That said, it must be warm or something under there, 'cause they freaking love sleeping under it.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments I think the lights keep it warmer.
