Sorry it's late folks!
Remember, do as few or as many as you like, and they don't all have to be mysteries.

November is National Novel Writing Month - Read a book where someone (not necessarily the main character) is a writer of some kind (novelist, reporter, etc.)

Nov 2 is Book Lovers Day - Read a book set in a bookstore, about someone who repairs or restores books, or about a librarian.

Nov 11 is Veteran's Day - Read a book where a character is active duty military or a veteran, or the cover has a flag on it. A book would also count if the author was a veteran.

Nov 15 is America Recycles Day - Read a used book, or a book that involves recycling in some way.

Nov 21 is False Confession Day - Read a book where a character makes a false confession.

Last one might be the hardest. Feel free to list a few books you know qualify that you've read to help out others since it's hard to know if a book qualifies for that one until after you've read it.

~Kate aka Briansgirl

Seeing Linda that it's from our featured author this month, I'll let it slide and qualify. ;)

Ellen Kirschman What they carried" by Tim O'Brian is an exquisite book about the Vietnam war. It's not a mystery but a classic novel written in stirring language.

Melissa | 324 comments So, I'll keep looking for a book with a false confession in it, but if I don't find anything else, wondering if this would fit Skating Under the Wire.

I'm trying not to give a spoiler, but basically, if a character has memory issues so isn't sure about their actions and therefore evades investigators and basically falsely makes themselves look guilty. Do we think this could count under false confession day?

Terrance Ewing | 54 comments Rex Strut's SECOND CONFESSION is a great example

Maria (sexydva) | 43 comments There are false confessions in the last two books I just read:

Hope that helps!

Rebecca Douglass (rdouglass) | 217 comments Okay, I can't resist, since people seem to be short on books about libraries and librarians. It's a short fast read, though not a mystery.

Naomi (tribalcat) | 307 comments I'm in the midst of NaNoWriMo, but I'll try to complete this challenge too this month! 5/5 DONE

November is National Novel Writing Month - Poisoned Prose by Ellery Adams

Nov 2 is Book Lovers Day - Bookplate Special by Lorna Barrett

Nov 11 is Veteran's Day - Tripwire by Lee Child

Nov 15 is America Recycles Day - The Night Awakens: A Mystery Writers of America Anthology by Mystery Writers of America

Nov 21 is False Confession Day - The Confession by Charles Todd

The false confession book is the 15th in the Ian Rutledge cozy series, but can certainly be read as a standalone. It's the first in the series that I've read, and there wasn't anything I didn't understand. Here's my blurb of the book, and I gave it 5-stars. It takes place in 1920 England:

Scotland Yard Inspector, Ian Rutledge, is approached in his office by a man reporting a murder. He refuses to give any details about the murder other than revealing the names of the killer and the victim. Rutledge begins to investigate the case, when suddenly another murder takes place.

And yes, I've kept up my writing in NaNo while I read all these!

Melissa | 324 comments Well, I actually read a book with a false confession! It's Amish fiction, not a mystery, but a church member makes a false confession to the bishop.

Jacob's Daughter Jacob's Daughter (Jacob's Daughter #1) by Samantha Jillian Bayarr

So, that really worked out!

That's great Melissa. The wacky holiday really fits our cozy mystery theme, but it's nearly impossible to find out if a book will have a false confession before reading it! (That's why I suggested others might offer up books they know will qualify to help others out.) So thanks for helping with another choice!

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Oh! I just remembered, the first book of the Bibliophile mysteries by Kate Carlisle has a false confession in it.

Well, it looks like I am changing up my list a bit. I originally picked up Seed No Evil (Flower Shop #14) as my Veterans Day book (Marco being a former army ranger), but surprise, surprise -- there's a false confession at the end! So...since that's harder to find in Mount TBR than a book with a military connection, a change of titles it will be!

Elizabeth Webber I read A Small Case of Murder It has a veteran hero/detective. I wanted to read this for a while and was pretty disappointed in the characters. There were very strong dichotomies with women falling at the feet of the main man, who was kind of a jerk. Boo. I finished it for the mini challenge though, and now I know the series is not my cup of tea.
