A Jersey girl born and bred, national bestselling author Rosie Genova left her heart at the shore, which serves as the setting for much of her work. Her series for Penguin, the Italian Kitchen Mysteries, is informed by her appreciation for good food, her pride in her heritage, and her love of classic mysteries, from Nancy Drew to Miss Marple. The first book in the series, Murder and Marinara, was voted a Best Cozy by Suspense Magazine and was a finalist for a Daphne Award.

The proud mother of three grown sons, Rosie still lives in her home state with her husband and a charming mutt named Lucy.

A Haunting Release

I saw this under perfect conditions—a gray, rainy afternoon—and absolutely loved it. I think it’s the best of the three Kenneth Branagh productions, and I’m coming to appreciate his interpretation of the character. The movie is Halloween-themed and truly atmospheric. A great way to kick off the fall season…

“I took another slug of my coffee—like most of my old boyfriends, it was strong, dark, Italian and slightly bitter. . .”
Rosie Genova, Murder and Marinara

“Gio Parisi was a good-looking man,if your taste ran to dissolute Roman emperors.”
Rosie Genova, Murder and Marinara

“In a matter of seconds, the sky darkened and the first fat drops of rain splashed around us. We went from table to table to gather our guests, smiling to mask our nervousness as the wind blew harder. As I watched the empty chairs overturning and the linens on the grape arbor flapping like sails, I was seized with a sudden fear. The wind whipped the trees; the creak of branches presaged the first sharp flash of lightning, followed by a thunder crack that set my heart pounding.”
Rosie Genova, A Dish Best Served Cold
