What a great title, and exactly what you would expect of vampires with their superior strength, looks, and abilities. However, it isn't just us humans they feel superior too, oh no, if you're a female vamp, and one of the Sventé vamps as well, you're on the bottom of the totem pole. Unless your gift is a Feeder. A Feeder "can feed on the energy around them; absorb it and control it. Very rare.”

Samantha (Sam) Parker has been a vamp for 3 yrs, her sire Victor, a cruel and disgusting maggot. Victor forces Sam to do his dirty work ie duel other vamps to gain territory whilst at the same time forcing her to be his lover.

Her dueling comes to the attention of a vamp recruiter for the Grand High Master Vamp Antonio and she is whisked off to an island for the tryouts for his Legion. So there has never been a female vamp in the Legion. There has never been a Sventé vamp in the Legion. And you just know there are going to be fireworks when the Hero, Jared Michaels, heir to Antonio, wants her as a companion and not a soldier.

Sam definitely qualifies as a Kick-Ass Heroine but this one just didn't quite live up to Ms Wright's other series beginning with Feral Sins. Nevertheless I will definitely be reading the next book in this series.

I broke down and got on my kindle since I didn't want to wait for the books to get to my library and I will start reading that tonight. I got called into work today but I still expect to finish that one by tomorrow evening. Then I will be ready for my free space book and Kick-ass Heroine books on Tues.

Nice follow up to the first book. The character development and growth was interesting and a couple of major bombshells I wasn't expecting. And let me tell you I'm so Team Kellan! He's perfect! I'm very excited to see where the third book goes. Don't let the YA tag fool you either, these really aren't YA reads.
