Good Job!! :D

Week 3: 17/11/13
Shelf #6: Rewind
Keeping Secret (Secret McQueen, #4) by Sierra Dean
20/11/13 ★★★★
Secret is having a tough time in the lead-up to her wedding to Lucas the Werewolf King. Not that she actually wants to marry Lucas, but she thinks it is the right thing to do for the Pack.
At the same time, she is also required to be there for the Vampire Tribunal, now that she is a member.
So people keep trying to kill her. Ambushed and shot on the way to Lucas's mansion, some classy backwards driving saves the day; ambushed and shots fired at the wedding dress shop, before the gunman suicides; ambushed and shot whilst a wolf down in Louisiana.
So, down in Louisiana, Secret finds out quite a bit more about her family, mostly good, which is in direct contrast to how her life is going.
There is some great action in this book, some shockers, some set-ups for the future, but one character that has always intrigued me is Sig, the Leader of the Vampire Tribunal. We find out a little more about him, but there is certainly a lot more to him than we know at this point.
And can I say that the future does not look too bright for Brigit, now that her lifeforce is tied to the cell door of the prisoner Peyton. Secret's bogeyman.

I enjoyed this book and there were parts of it that had me chuckling. I really like Atticus' dog Oberon and his movie obsessions. I think Atticus' ability to maneuver around all the gods, goddesses, witches and werewolves in the area without too much adversity until the end is remarkable. But, you have to expect that after 2100 years he must have learned a few(or thousands) different methods of conflict control. I can not imagine having to think so many steps ahead of what someone might be planning. It is really like a chess game.
The first part of the book was a little slow for me. It had a lot of background information about how things have gotten to this point. Once the action started, it got a lot more interesting. I am glad that Atticus decided to stay and fight rather than run again. I want to read the next book to find out if his apprentice comes back and if he comes to an agreement with the coven.

I'm 26% into my Witches book and should be finished today. Feels a bit fluffy so should be a quick read once I get a chance to get into it :)

Review:
This was an enjoyable read but I still don't get all of the fuss about this series. I liked Sin though and this set the spin off series up nicely. All in all nothing new to the PNR genre but they are well written and I do enjoy the banter between the siblings.

Review: I read the first book in this series two years ago, so I was afraid that I wouldn't remember what happened previously. However, this being the second book, it contained good reminders of what was going on. I liked how it didn't go overkill on that, because that can be a real downer. I liked this book, and it keep me intrigued. In this book, Tamsin has to travel back in time to save her family. (In a nutshell) I enjoyed it. It had a pretty good ending as well.

Week 3: 17/11/13
Shelf #5: Witches
Craved (Gwen Sparks, #1) by Stephanie Nelson
23/11/13 ★★★
This is primarily a Witch and Vampire story, with the odd Werewolf as well.
Witches are being murdered for their blood, and hello who drinks blood?
Gwen Sparks, our h is a spirit walker and witch with a nice little magical shop, Aiden our H is the vamp who has wanted her for 2 yrs following her breakup with the local Sheriff, Micah, a werewolf.
The Witches Blood is called Brew, and Gwen is assisting Micah in trying to find out who is murdering the witches.
On the surface this seems like a perfectly simple little story, even maybe a standalone. However, it does turn nasty & a long plot is put in place which looks like leading to a war between the Vamps and the Witches.
I'm not a great fan of witch stories, but I'll probably read the next one in the series just to find out what happens.

This was really a tragic and sad story. My heart broke for the MC. The author did a good job portraying the thoughts and emotions I would expect to feel/think in a zombie apocalypse. The only thing that kept me from rounding it up to a 4 was that there wasn't enough action in it for me. Other than that a well written book!

Review: In this book, Clea has just lost her dad. She loves photography, and soon finds something paranormal within her pictures. Then she finds herself in a love triangle. The reviews for this book weren't very good. I thought the book was better than the reviews. I will read the next one in the series.

Week 4: 24/11/13
Shelf: Vampires
The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires (Half-Moon Hollow, #1) by Molly Harper
26/11/13 ★★★★★
Iris Scanlon quits College to come home to Half-Moon Hollow to look after her teenage sister Gigi, following their parents death. To make money, she creates a Concierge business catering to Vampires who cannot do those little necessary things during daylight.
So doing her usual rounds she drops into a new clients home and literally trips over him lying on the kitchen floor. He's been poisoned by the welcome basket blood. As Cal is working for the local Vampire Council as an investigator he isn't sure if it was someone on the Council or some other unrelated "person".
He needs somewhere to hide and recover until he can find out what's happening. So he 'arranges' to stay at Iris's place.
That's the basic premise but it doesn't convey how funny this book is.
Looking forward to the next one.

Loved all the action/adventure stuff in Thor, as well as Chris Hemsworth *drool*, lots of clever effects, felt like you were right in the action.
And I've just ordered the next Half-Moon Hollow book :)

In this second book, Rose is getting extra classes to catch up to her peers in her guardian training. Unfortunately, her trainer is the guardian she is in love with he will not respond to her overtures. When she is taken to one of her tests, she walks in on a massacre of a Moroi family and one of the strongest guardians.
The school keeps everyone together over Christmas break and another family is killed. It is discovered that the Strigoi have started working in larger groups and with humans. It also starts up a debate among the Moroi about how to protect themselves in the future.
Rose has to deal with her retionships changing between her mother, trainer and her best friend who she is slated to be guardian for as soon as she graduates. The book was easy enough to read, but didn't really capture my full attention. I put it down several times to read other books. I will probably eventually continue reading to find out if she ever gets together with Dimitri.
