Had to read book 2 of my KAH book yesterday, had to find out what happened, but I'm about 80 pgs into my dragon book now :)
Still waiting for Free Space book

I loved this book. I did think the main characters went from enemies to romantic partners too quickly to be realistic at first, but the context of the book made that believable as I kept reading. I liked the confusion that Dragos had deciphering what he was feeling even though he was hundreds of years old and the juxtaposition of being the hard-hearted leader and tender protector.
I was surprised by the back story of Tricks and the animal side of Pia. I also liked the way the world was set up to be mostly on Earth with cities the reader recognized, but also a little bit separate to be able to incorporate all the magical beings. I will definitely be continuing this series.

I've finished my Dragon book, review shortly & my Free Space book came in the mail today. Hooray!!!!!

Hope its nothing too serious :(

FINALLY! Glad Mr. Mailman came through today! (Actually, shouldn't put blame on his hardworking shoulders...but easiest target!)

Solid start to a unique and quirky series! I love it when a book combines a lot if elements, there's romance, mystery, fantasy, and tons of crass humor! Jim is like the dirty minded version of Oberon. There were moments that I lol while reading. I'll definitely be reading more of these in the future!

I also changed my first post in the thread to a list of the shelves and books read for them. Post 6

Review: I liked the whole story line. I also liked how some people were graced with one talent from anything to cooking to juggling (and everything in between). It was a good first book to a series I think. There was a lot of drama and action to keep it interesting. I didn't really like the ending, but I'll probably read the next book to see how it goes on.

Sorry for the long review but this is actually 3 books in 1.
I read this long ago as an ebook and couldn't resist also getting it in print. For those who haven't read it, it also comes with a short, Chains and Flames which is the story of Fearghus the Destroyers' parent's romance. You can choose which one you want to read first, as Shelly said she wrote Dragon Actually first. The print copy also comes with a new story A Tale of Two Dragons, which is Fearghus's Uncle's romance, which is set before Chains and Flames.
Dragon Actually
Annwyl the Bloody, is human and leading the rebellion against her brother Lorcan and ends up fighting and losing in front of Fearghus's cave. He doesn't like the noise and comes to investigate. Fearghus becomes intrigued by Annwyl when she isn't afraid of him and he decides to heal her after polishing off the annoying soldiers who are fleeing in terror.
Thus the stage is set for much sword-worthy action. We see the rest of Fearghus's family and a right bunch of nutcases they all are. Dragon males love a mean female, of any species, and Shelly delivers mean in a good way.
Chains and Flames
Princess Rhiannon and Low Born Bercelak Cadwaladr, the Battle Dragon are thrown together by Queen Addiena in an attempt to mate/kill Rhiannon. The Queen is afraid of her daughter and has hated her for the past 125 years. Both of them are White Dragons, so are full of magic, but sadly Rhiannon doesn't seem to have the ability. The Queen forces Rhiannon to be human by magic in an attempt to weaken her so that she is easily killed. Meanwhile Bercelak has wanted the mean, very mean, Rhiannon for 55 years, so he's not letting her escape him.
A Tale of Two Dragons
More insanity of the Cadwaladr kind. Bercelak's older brother Addolgar the Cheerful and Lady Braith of the Darkness are sent on a quest to return Lady Katharina to her father, Lord Berg by Queen Addiena. Unbeknownst by everyone Braith's father, Lord Emyr, has betrayed the Queen, Braith & Katharina. The Queen, looking for a quick scapegoat intends to execute Braith and ignore the real culprit.
The Cadwaladr clan don't like that idea, so much scheming and planning goes into the rescue of Braith.
Love all the humour in these books and the characters. Also love that Eibbhear the Blue makes an appearance in the last story.

I enjoyed this book. As a mercenary with a lot of power, but very little recognition, Kate seems to be able to hide what she really is from everyone. As she tries to find the person who killed her guardian, she has to deal with several groups of people and manages to keep almost everything to herself. I am intrigued with learning who she might really be, there seem to be hints that her parents were not really hers.
I will definitely be reading the next one in this series too. I want to find out how her relationship with the Pack is developed and what secrets she is carrying around with her.

ETA: OK it's open now :D
Got about 30 pages left in my FS book, loving it

I just started reading my Free Space book and should have it done by Saturday morning so I can start fresh with the next two shelves.

The reason I read Nalini Singh books apart from the great story and world building is for the romance. And this book delivers.
Raphael and Elena aren't just hawt together, they care about each other on a very fundamental level. The intimacy between Raphael and Elena has certainly grown over the past several books. Several times Elena says to Raphael that she doesn't plan on going on if Raphael gets killed, just like Raphael said to her when he made her an Angel. Together they battle their own demons; fathers, mothers and the new powers that the Cascade is bringing to all the Archangels.
Elena is very quickly assuming the role of Consort, decades ahead of the usual timeframe. Possibly due to the Cascade, or maybe just because Elena used to be human and is coming from a different perspective.
The Cascade is giving each of the Archangels a different power, and some of them are aligning with Raphael and some with Lijuan. In New York Angels are falling from the sky and vampires getting sick and dying. NY is under attack and Raphael, Elena and the Seven are preparing to defend the Tower.
For those of you who were disappointed in the battle over Beijing, fear not for this is an epic battle, rivalling even Lord of the Rings.
So looking forward to the next great book in this series.

Review: I had already read the second book to this trilogy, but not the first. I liked it, but it was a typical YA love triangle. I couldn't stand how indecisive Jacinda was when it came to Will. It was annoying. I felt the ending was very rushed, but since I already read the second book I knew what was going to happen anyways. All in all, I think I will be reading the last of this trilogy very soon.

I'm very conflicted when it comes to this series. The writing is good, it has a lot of the elements I enjoy in a book, it keeps me turning the pages but there's something missing for me. I can't even pinpoint what it is but there's just something that keeps me from getting excited about these books. I'll continue on with the series, I'm just not in a hurry to do so.

You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'kick-ass heroine' and 'dragons'.

Good Job!! :D

Ali thinks her life is finally starting to improve again, but then her boyfriend starts avoiding her and she learns that her body is fighting itself. It is dangerous for her to be around those she loves. I liked that the relationships still had all the teen angst and didn't immediately become perfect, but grew and matured as the book progressed. I still think it is a little odd that the town doesn't really realize what is going on when there seems to be so many accidents and weird occurrences needing to be explained. I will be reading the next book when it comes out to see what happens next.

* Romance Genre (Personal Shelf ~ ie: paranormal, contemporary, historical, sci-fi romance, etc)
Shelf #4 ~ 10/11/13: 'New2You Series'
* New2You Series (Personal Shelf ~ ie: first-in-series book)
As with all Personal Shelves there is no direct link, just read something appropriate

Actually, when the new shelves are called you would then be 5 reviews behind, so be in trouble. So 3 reviews behind plus the 2 new ones. You'd then have till the end of that week to get below the 3 outstanding reviews.
