i didn't bother to continue reading the beautiful creatures series or the red rising series after the second or third book i think. i guess i cared enough to see what happened and continued reading the matched series and maze runner series even though i found both to be boring. i kept thinking oh it will get better the whole time though.
i read the 50 shades and gideon cross/ crossfire series so we could have 'book club' at work and talk about them but i didnt get how several of my co-workers thought either series was so great. they were very similar, it was like reading the same books.
also i usually love historical fiction but found all the light we cannot see and the book thief to be some of the longest, most boring and dragging on books i have ever read and i know so many people who loved both books.
The Shining which I know is a horror classic and it may have been because I've seen the movie so many times, but it felt like a chore to read. Also, the Demonologist it's on everyone's must read horror list, but I've tried reading it twice and stop in the same place every time.
I feel so embarrassed to say this but I read the next books:Ghostgirl
Homecoming
Lovesick
I'm reading many posts in this link, and you have made me confirm not to continue with this series:
Matched
And I did not like
The Fault in Our Stars
Actually I prefer the movie
I hated
. Unpopular opinion, I'm sure, but it just did not work for me. I also didn't enjoy
. I felt like nothing ever happened. Definitely not enough to get me to care about the next book.
The One and Only Ivan. That was the most awful book I have ever read. I absolutely do NOT recommend it. NO WAY.
I think this is a very popular book but GOD! I can't even think about try to read the book again. because yes I tried but I don't even finished the book because for me this is so much boring... Not the plot (to be honest the plot is even interesting)! The problem is the way the book was written... SO many descriptions... So many sentences that destroyed the action... So boring, to me.So yes, I definitely don't like The Lord of the Rings...

I went into the Girls of Paper and Fire not expecting to like it at all (wouldn't even add it to my TBR until it showed up in my Owlcrate box) and ended up giving it 3.5 stars. I think because I had low expectations and it turned out her writing was very impressive for a debut novel!

I''m not going to say it's the worst book--not by a long-shot. But I could NOT get through Dune after three attempts.
I don't know if it's popular or not, but Courting Darkness. I picked it up at a local bookstore, purely because the hardcover was gorgeous, and I tried to read it, but it just bore me. The writing felt clunky, and the protagonist didn't seem to have a personality. Maybe it got better later, I just couldn't keep reading it.
Oh, also every John Green book! There was a period of time where I really thought if I gave John Green a chance, I'd love his books, but I just couldn't. I like his youtube videos, and I think he's a cool guy, but his books just feel so unrelatable and don't get me started on the protagonists! I've read Looking For Alaska, Paper Towns, and An Abundance of Katherines, and I didn't like any of them. I may give The Fault In Our Stars a chance, though. I've heard it's good, and I picked it up at my local Goodwill a while back.

It wasn't that I hated them, they were just, well, meh.

I had high hopes for Girls of Paper and Fire but was totally disappointed
I know I've posted twice, but I just remembered something. I hated Throne Of Glass. I thought it would be good, it's completely up my alley. I love royal courts, magic, assassins, and princes, but I HATED Throne of Glass. I didn't like the protagonist, she seemed so "I'm not like other girls." Also, she won literally every competition without fail, except for when she stopped to help someone. The writing style just didn't really grab me, and keep me engaged. I really wanted to like it, honestly. But this book just wasn't my cup of tea. I was gonna try A Court of Thorns and Roses, but I'm not really interested in giving Sarah J Maas another shot after how disappointing Throne of Glass was.

The relationships are kind of a mess, the protagonist is boring, and Maas's obsession with male beauty and maleness/masculinity in that trilogy was really weird and a little creepy.
Red Queen and The Young Elites. They both had a great start but the more I read, the more I was disappointed. The ending was rubbish for both. I am sure other people might like them but they both just didn't match my taste.
I love ACOTAR, and I am about to start 'Throne of Glass." I've heard multiple people say the same thing about it...that i just isn't that great. Mostly the main character winning everything, and just knowing that she's too beautiful. Sigh. Oh, I'm new to this group, so hello all! :)

Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I so wanted to like it but didn't work for me :(Paper princess. No comments.
I really hated Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake! After reading the summary I thought it would be right up my alley and that I would love it but after about 3 or 4 chapters I ditched it and haven't looked at it again since. I read Blake's Anna Dressed in Blood and found it OK... but this was just horrible. I completely loathed all 3 of the main POVs so much I couldn't stand reading it anymore!
Michelle wrote: "I was disappointed with The Cruel Prince by Holly Black."Oh, I wanted to start it soon. Why were you disappointed?
The Selection series. I wish I never bothered getting through the first book and skim reading the second.
The Fault in Our Stars. This was one of the most pretentious teen stuff I've read and I'm kind of surprised that I finished it.Another one would be Me Before You. I didn't like the main girl at all and tbh, I sympathized way more with the main guy's thought process than hers and she annoyed me a lot.
All the Bright Places. I'd heard so many good things about it but I was so disappointed with how it turned out. I get what the author was trying to do, but it came across as romanticizing depression. Also Anatomy of a Misfit. Almost every single character in it was just so unlikable. Idk how I managed to finish that book.
I did not like Ship It and don't recommend it. I love LGBT books but found this one gross for unrelated reasons. I read it a year ago and still remember how much I loathe it.
I'm not sure if this counts as its a "classic" but Of Mice and Men. I hate this book with a fiery, burning passion. I had the distinction of being the only student my 11th grade English teacher ever had that hated it.

I could not stand that book.
A good story = Read it, love it. Wait 10 years, read it again and still love it.A bad story = Read it, love it. Wait 3 years, read it again and wonder why the hell you liked it in the first place?!

I really liked Looking for Alaska but his other books are just average reads and I feel the internet has crowned him as the YA king.
The Cruel Prince I didn't feel connected to the characters but I am really hoping that the last book brings it's A-game.
Shadow and Bone ok so I thought you had to read this before Six of Crows, like the Shadowhunter books. But I didn't enjoy this book at all. The end was so boring. I didn't like the ships but I am hoping that Six of Crow is better.
50 Shades of Grey .Absolutely horrendous writing, characters and storyline....ughh, I vomited a little trying to get through it.There are so many amazing Bdsm and erotica books out there, how in hell that rubbish even got published and gain so many followers.
, I stopped at book 3. I hate shows like the bachelor and the bachelorette, to me this was like a book form but a little more irritating. I didn't like the characters, or the romance... just not a fan.

Replica by Lauren Oliver. Wow this book had potential! But nothing was resolved and it just felt unfinished. I know that there is another book in the series but Replica didn't even give any indication on where book 2 would go or what was going to happen...
