The Girls! I heard such great things about it but it felt like a weird Charles Manson fan fiction and I was THRILLED when I finally got through it.
The Young Elite series. I really like Marie Lu's books, but this series wasn't her finest for me. I didn't really like the characters that much and it got very tedious

The Fault in Our Stars!!! I don’t like it at all, but everyone else was so in love with that book... I didn’t think it was any different to any other contemporary romance novel.
If I Stay. I read this book so long ago but I remember I lost interest halfway through. I can't particularly remember why I didn't like it but I remember there being something.

Lol, love your comments on the word count! I didn't even finish 50 shades of grey - couldn't drag myself through that.
I just finished Obsidian yesterday and felt a bit bad about giving it a low rating while seeing that the majority are 5 star reviews. But it was so much like reading Twilight with aliens instead of vampires
TirzaIt's not young adult, I had to read it two years ago for school and it was just awful and very inappropriate. It was for dutch class and I have no idea if this book is internationally known, but the reviews I read in advance of reading were all very positive. Maybe I was a little too young, but our teacher recommended it.
The girl on the train. The boy that works in the library told me that he didn't like it and he thought the book really bad but I didn't listen to him. And when I started reading it, I knew he was right. I only finished it because I didn't wanna feel like I had wasted my money (It didnt work because I felt like that anyways)
The Selection! It has pretty high ratings, but I just couldn't get into it and thought the plot was just stupid!
It's not YA, and I'm being a bit controversial, but I really didn't like Catcher in the Rye. It's just a book about a nobody doing nothing. I came away feeling like I wasted my time. I like books that inspire, show progression, etc. etc.
Twilight. Its the controlling relationship and the sexist attitude. Also, Bella is bland and boring.

I agree with it. I have heard so much about the hunger games and I thought the concept was new and all and I tried it, but it turned out to be teenage drama. I couldn't bring myself to watch the movies. The book was enough. I hope I am not offending anyone's feelings here. I don't like it but maybe you do. So, please don't hate me?

paper towns by John Green. it was soooooo boring
Grapes of Wrath...it is possible that because I had such a bad english teacher in school, it was sort of ruined for me but I just never really cared for it.
Turtles All the Way Down by John Green and Zenith by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsey Cummings Okay, neither of these books were the worst books I've ever read, but I honestly don't think either of them were particularly great. Turtles had no plot, and the writing in Zenith fell way too short of elegant. It's not that these books are terrible, I just don't think they deserve all the hype and popularity that they've been given.
i totally hated throne of glass and the book after it, i found it really boring although everyone around me liked it, please dont shoot me !! :3
I hated Turtles All the Way Down because it had no plot (I understand that it was important for some people, but it just wasn’t for me) and I also couldn’t stand Heartless by Marissa Meyer

My problem with Twilight was how sexist it was. It's so anti-girl, and so much time is devoted to making misogynistic so-called "blonde jokes", or mocking pretty much every other girl on the page (other than Alice). It created Fifty Shades, which copied Twilight's women-hating tone from the first page.
The "I'm not like other girls" trope is so nasty. *Every* girl is not like other girls, because all of us can be unique, multi-dimensional people who like nice clothes, motorsport, glittery jewellery, and physics all at once!
I have a new one - The cruel prince (holly black).I don't even know how it was published, it's so stupid. And what the F is with all the physical bullying? When a prince bullies a girl. Like what are you saying here???
Oh my god I could not stand Eragon. The world building was so confusing with no limits anywhere. That’s like one of the number one rules of fantasy world building. SET YOUR LIMITS. It was a painful read, god, never again.
@SilviaI won't even bother with eragon, since trusted sources say it's star wars in fantasy setting.
Matched by Allie Condie. I don't know if people liked it, but it seemed to be everywhere. I couldn't get past chapter one. It felt like I was reading a book of plagiarism based on the Giver.
Red Queen. Definitely. By far. I absolutely hated this book/series and am really not sure why I forced myself to read Glass Sword or King's Cage. Mare is also by far the worst protagonist I have ever read about and I absolutely hate her. The love interest sucks and the characters are very 2D and annoying and just so frustrating to read about. I seriously don't understand the hype over this series AT ALL.
I've read a lot of subpar books, but the "House of Night" series is one of the worst. Not just poorly written and poorly edited, but the attempts at being progressive and diverse are cringe-worthy at best. The only reason I'm trying to finish the series is out of a morbid sense of determination.
Rachael wrote: "I've read a lot of subpar books, but the "House of Night" series is one of the worst. Not just poorly written and poorly edited, but the attempts at being progressive and diverse are cringe-worthy ..."I've read like half of them and don't really enjoy them but I keep going haha
It's hard to believe one of the authors is a teacher 😖🤭
The entire Divergent trilogy. It was essentially The Hunger Games in so many ways, but I at least enjoyed the latter. That, and the writing was so flat and boring and the trilogy has some negative personal connotations for me and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-(Please don't hurt me. ;-;)
Farren wrote: "Rachael wrote: "I've read a lot of subpar books, but the "House of Night" series is one of the worst. Twilight it's the worse but I only read the first one and I bet there is other books that are worse but the only one right now that I read is twilight, I watched all the movies but still I don't feel like I can get into it I think it has something to do with Bella, I just couldn't really like her character just kinda of mopey and moody the hole time barley smiling. I liked everyone else characters on twilight tho. I liked vampire academy a lot better it's my favorite book series I think it's much better then twilight. It's sad no second movie.
*Not really YA but...*Anything Jane Austen.
Nothanger Abbey for example. Its called Northanger Abbey. Barely any of the book takes place at Northanger Abbey. The majority is set in Bath. I thought it was really slow moving.
I just don't like her books at all.
Nicole wrote: "The Lies of Locke Lamora it was awful, it has to be one of the worst books I've ever read. The writing style was impossible to get through, couldn't get into the story."OMG I am surprised cuz that series is easily my top 5 but I just like heist stories I suppose.
A recent book that I haven't enjoyed is Our Dark Duet, holy cow that ending was so atrocious and Victoria Schwab usually delivers superb endings.
Brooklyn wrote: "Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, I think it’s just super basic???"Yeah, I agree. Carry On was much better.
Also, the Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard is by FAR one of the worst books I've ever read.
Alright, please don't come at me for these. Didn't enjoy the following:Hunger Games
Night Circus
The Wrath and the Dawn
Anything by John Green
Okay... Here we go! Popular books everyone seems to love that I absolutely HATED!!!1.) Angelfall
2.) Nine Minutes
3.) Revelation
4.) Bully
Red queen Matched
The Throne of Glass series.
The Throne of Glass was actually good, but then the second one was just... awful. It really grated on my nerves, especially Caelaena and her relationship "switching". She literally went from really liking Dorian to giving him the big, bad cold shoulder, and then dating his best friend. And his best friend went along with it and her!? I feel like I am one of the only ones that feels this way. By the way, I love The Court of Thorns and Roses series by the same author.
Matched: This is one of the worst books that I have ever read. Something about Ky and his "calloused hands"( I swear, it seemed like I had to hear that every couple of pages). Also, like someone else said, a lot of the ideas are very similar to that of The Giver and not in a good way. The sweet best friend and the bad boy( for some reason protagonist almost always chooses the second love interest she meets) type love triangle is very overused. We all know who the the main character will choose in this scenario.
Red Queen: The first one was good, and I will give the author props for creating Maven. He was great in the books I read( book one, two, and skimmed over three). Book two, The Glass sword, was absolutely horrible. I was never particularly fond of Mare, but she was downright annoying and insufferable in book two and three. So, she kept repeating the same phrase over and over, "Anyone can betray anyone", among others. She distrusted almost everyone, even her own family and best friend that she had known for years. But, as soon as Mr. Handsome, aka flat, indescive Cal, comes around, she lets him in. Mare was also very full of herself, the whole plot was boring, and, if I am being completely honest, the name Farley really annoys me.
I don't know how popular it is, but I really did not like "Every Day" by David Levithan. I felt like most of the characters were really one-dimensional, and the whole story was just insanely depressing, in my opinion.
Veronica wrote: "The Fault in Our Stars!!! I don’t like it at all, but everyone else was so in love with that book... I didn’t think it was any different to any other contemporary romance novel."I agree! I couldn't see what everyone else was raving about.
I really hated ' the fault in our stars'. The dialog between characters was terrible. I also was not a fan of ' Queen of the tearling', I just could not get behind the main character. I have no idea how that series became so popular. The second book is even worse than the first. I have no intention of reading the last of the series.
"Hopeless"by Colleen Hoover. My problem with the book wasn't simply about the horrible topic- I'm not saying tragic stories shouldn't be written. But if felt like the author was using the tragic part not to make the reader feel something, but only to make the book popular.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child! I want to know when Voldemort would EVER condescend to have ANY form of intimacy. Wouldn't happen. And that's not the only maiming of a character. Ginny would never lay down and let Harry yell at her, Harry would never yell in the face of Professor McGonagall, Hermione would never become Snape-esque just because her and Ron didn't end up together--she's a much stronger person than that--see book 7 for crying out loud. This book doesn't deserve the title Harry Potter, never mind the hype.
