worst book you have ever read that's popular?
kelyn wrote: "Shatter me, I really struggled with that one."But it was so good, the protagonist grew, sure she was a crybaby at first. Kinda like a overgrown baby, but she end up changing for the better and everything. I really did like that book. 📖
i shouldve said Outpost since i did enjoy enclave alot, just, the sequel turned me off from the series. I thought the romance was stupid and the story was slow.
Yea I mean it was a little slow but then the third one was crazy and kept the pace going a lot more. They were once my very favorite book series
I really hated the last three books in "The Mortal Instrument" series.I loved "City of Bones" , it's one of my favorite books ever. I also really liked "City of Ashes" and "City of Glass". (In my opinion this is where the story should have ended.)
But I just can't stand "City of Fallen Angels", "City of Lost Souls" and "City of Heavenly Fire". The story dragged on and on and it somehow felt like all the characters made stupid decisions again and again. I really wanted to like these books, but I couldn't.
Where were the intelligent, bad ass heroines at?! All I got was examples that young (or any!) people should never learn from. 'Problematic' doesn't even begin to describe these books...I was very disappointed.
I️ didn’t much like We Were Liars. I️ knew the “twist” very early on. The story was very boring and longer than it should have been.
lola and the boy next door was one of the worst books i have ever read. that's my opinion. just LOLAAAAAAA. so annoying! and the plot wasn't as enticing as the other two in the series. Anna - LOVED. Isla - LOVED EVeN MORE. Lola - just why? just... why?!

I really enjoyed this series when it first came out, but I reread them last year and was SO disappointed.
The only one I'd ever consider re-reading is Catching Fire, and even then the juvenile writing kind of puts me off!

Three Dark Crowns. It was super hyped up, and then just fell flat. There was a whole lot of insta love going around, and the actual synopsis that drew me in never really came to fruition. Overall, it wasn't a terribly bad book just extremely disappointing.
I would also have to go with Looking for Alaska, although I was surprised Twilight didn't make the cut.
I really didn't like Paper Towns by John Green, which is quite an unpopular opinion. I thought it was slow and boring, and the main character wasn't very likable for me. I find it interesting to see how many books people have mentioned on this list that I have absolutely adored at one point or another. To each their own, I suppose.
I agree with Sarah☝️ Paper Towns didn’t manage to hold my interest. Also ‘If I stay’ by Gayle Forman
A Court of Thorns and RosesMost of the book was really slow and the the characters were dull. I've heard it gets better but I don't have enough interest in it to continue.
The Fellowship of the RingOkay, I know there are people out there who mcLOVE this book. I love me some fantasy, I LOVE adventure! This book just had HUGE parts that could totally have been cut out of the book and no one would have noticed. It dragged on so much it was almost painful. The only characters I actually cared about by the end were the hobbits...except Frodo. I'm going to finish the series because I AM NO QUITTER. I'm not gonna lie though, I'm not terribly excited about it.
I'm going to get a lot of hate, but.... I really didn't like Fangirl. Cath was an awkward character to read about which made me kinda not like her a bit. I know a lot of people like that aspect of her personality but to me she was kinda icky. Also, what was the plot? There was practically nothing that made me want to keep reading. And I just skipped over all of the fanfiction because it was too hard for me to follow and really boring. So yeah, Fangirl just didn't live up to the hype for me.
I Am Number FourI hated this book. I'm sorry, but I did. It was so boring! And the problem was that I really wanted to like it, I wanted to say: "Yeah, I read that, it was so good!" But I just couldn't.
The main problem was that they tried to make the romance more interesting and promptly failed. (How are you supposed to make straight, white romance not cliché? Spoiler alert: it doesn't work).
The second problem was that there were multiple writers. You finally got used to one writing style and then it randomly changed! You couldn't get into it at all.
Third, the monsters were terrible. These aliens that were taking over planets, bleh. It's been tried before. It was better than fine (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy). You didn't have to go in and mess up the entire genre!
To conclude: this book was torture.
Bumba wrote: "FANGIRL,ATTACHMENTS;i loved E&P that's why picked those up;but it was a complete waste of my time"Have you tried Carry On? It's really really good and blows Fangirl out of the water.
Gala wrote: "Don't hate me... but I couldn't even finish Eleanor & Park, by Rainbow Rowell"Me neither... I stopped at fifty pages or something. Don't really like Rainbow Rowell's books at all, hence my one-star review of Fangirl sorry not sorry
I couldn’t finish Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I don’t know exactly why though. And I didn’t enjoy Lola and the boy next door by Stephanie Perkins as much as I loved Anna and the French kiss (sadly 😕)

I was so bored by this??? I might try the next one, but I'm not sure.

50 Shades of gray."Oh my..."
I hated the repetitive comments she always made and found it utterly ridiculous that a 23(ish?) year old woman would just agree to do become a rich playboy's toy after staying pure for so long. I'm expected to believe she's considering butt stuff and S&M without any experience whatsoever JUST because he's good looking and rich?
I found myself infuriated too much.
The Catcher in the Rye. I still cankt understand the main idea of the story. Too many swears and the story is so boring. The whole book talks about a young man.who have no dream and hate very things he has ever know. The worst book :(((

Hahaha my thoughts exactly. I listened to the audiobook so the repetitive phrases really stood out, and in my review I put the number of times she said each one by doing a search for them in my kindle book =P

I've never had the urge to pick this book up, and I for sure won't now xD

If fact I just wanted to smack him.

I found this with a quick search.
"Ana says "Jeez" 81 times and "oh my" 72 times. She "blushes" or "flushes" 125 times, including 13 that are "scarlet," 6 that are "crimson," and one that is "stars and stripes red." (I can't even imagine.) Ana "peeks up" at Christian 13 times, and there are 9 references to Christian's "hooded eyes," 7 to his "long index finger," and 25 to how "hot" he is (including four recurrences of the epic declarative sentence "He's so freaking hot."). Christian's "mouth presses into a hard line" 10 times. Characters "murmur" 199 times, "mutter" 49 times, and "whisper" 195 times (doesn't anyone just talk?), "clamber" on/in/out of things 21 times, and "smirk" 34 times. Christian and Ana also "gasp" 46 times and experience 18 "breath hitches," suggesting a need for prompt intervention by paramedics. Finally, in a remarkable bit of symmetry, our hero and heroine exchange 124 "grins" and 124 "frowns"

You saved yourself some time! The movie is much better than the book, which we all know how often that happens. And saying that, the movie isn't that good. :X
Does the Red Pony by John Steinbeck count? Ugh it was so awful. It was like pulling teeth to get through that one.
See, I didn't hate 50 shades. I already knew it was going to be one of those, 'so bad, it's good' sort of books. I have a soft spot in my heart for ridiculous bodice rippers.. lol If anyone even sort of liked 50 shades, then you will probably really like the first few books in Maya Banks 'sweet' series, but, at some point they got way too much for me. They are sordid for sure.. lol
If you like ridiculously funny books in a similar vein, you might also like Tara Sivec's Chocoholic's series, my favorite was the 2nd about a Brony.. It's particularly ridiculous adult situations.
As far as popular books I didn't like, haven't come across too many.
I didn't finish A Spool of Blue Thread
It's adult fiction and pretty much everyone loved it. But, I was over 100 pages in and still didn't care about any of the characters, so gave it up.
Dear Inês I was going to say the same. Fallen Series by Lauren KateFallen
I literally wanted to cry when I was reading through the book. I just wasn't making any progress and I hated it! God! Never again
Never again!
Hana - In regards to your wanting to cry/not making progress. I had that same feeling when I read Infinite Jest. Never again.
I actually really liked the writing but towards halfway through the book I started to get annoyed by it and I absolutely hated the ending.

I managed to read it all the way through, but lost count how many times Bella described Edward. I pulled through the second and third one.. the fourth one I gave up. The movies are definitely better.
FINDING ALASKA. I just couldn't do it. My last college roommate is in love with all things John Green but that particular one just didn't do it for me.

Nooo not the uglies. It just kept pointed out flaw after flaw after flaw. The characters were developed but they never grew. Similar mistakes, step backs, and flaws. :(
