In general, fantasy is not for me either, Sharon. Having said that, there are some that I've enjoyed. The problem is working out the wheat from the chaff and if I want a greater likelihood of enjoying a book - I'm better off steering clear of fantasy! And sci-fi!

I love fantasy but you are so right about the wheat and the chaff. I read the blurb for Sabriel and decided it was not for me. I have your problem with romance. There are good ones but there is also so much rubbish.

Yes - that's true, Phrynne. Of course, you can get rubbish in all genres, but I guess we may have higher tolerances for what we call "rubbish" in different genres, depending on how we're wired, prior experiences, general likes and dislikes, moods and maybe what we ate for breakfast that morning!! ;-)

Glad I'm not the only one Kathryn. Felt bad once I read other reviews as most people enjoyed this one. I guess that's why we're all different :)
I read an article in the Sydney Morning Herald today about George R.R. Martin and his A Game of Thrones series and I thought to myself "Why can I not read this series (I have tried twice) when every one else loves it." It is my favourite genre, it ticks all the boxes for me but I just can't read it.
My loss I guess but it is good we are all different!

Very true Kathryn :)
