Began The Summer Book today. Jannson's been on my radar for a while, but this is the first of hers that I've read.

(I think I linked to the right one)
Started One Hundred Years of Solitude. I only read about 10 pages last night before drifting off, but I was really enjoying what I read.

Yes, I did. She was a wonderful artist. Last year I had a calendar with her drawings of the Hobbit – so different from the illustrations we are more familiar with.

Sorry to go off-topic for a moment:David, you might enjoy these as well:

These are wonderful. Thanks for sharing. The Hobbit is a list book, so it's just about on-topic.
Started Against the Day by Thomas Pynchon on audio. The narration by Dick Hill is awesome so far! I'm about an hour in so far.
Started Moby-Dick by Herman Melville (1819-91) on 22 September after reading up to chapter 54 of my edition earlier this year and giving up.Jim
Started The Woman in White a couple days ago. It's the "Catching Up With Classics" group long-read for Oct-Dec. I also re- started The Labyrinth of Solitude and Other Writings by Octavio Paz. I find that one tough going; not accustomed to that sort of writing and not sure if I'll finish.
George wrote: "Started The Woman in White a couple days ago.”I’m reading that as well this month. How do you like it thus far? I’ll also add The Monk and The Magus too.
Peter wrote: "Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. This is really a re-read as I read it some years back."I just finished a sci-fi book by Robert Silverberg, Downward to the Earth, which is an homage to HoD.
