Which LIST book did you just start?
Just began Our Ancestors: The Cloven Viscount, The Baron in the Trees, The Non-Existent Knight by Italo Calvino. Ready for a little adventure.
Starting Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto, which will be my 100th list book by a woman author. I believe there are 285 books (entries) by women authors on the Boxall list.
Catch-22. It's has very funny moments, filled with dark humor and sarcasm. I like it very much, so far.

Alice wrote: "Winter: A Novel by Ali Smith
I read Autumn last week (not on list)."
I really enjoyed Ali Smith's Seasonal series. You have to read (or listen) to all of them because there are clues in each novel and sometimes those clues sneak up on you! I listened to the audiobooks and found them quite entertaining.

I started The Cross, which is the 3rd part of the Kristin Lavransdatter trilogy by Sigrid Undset.
Did you know Undset was the third woman to receive the Nobel in literature (after Selma Lagerlof and Grazia Deledda)?

I'm not sure the point of The Cross will be very clear without the background of Kristin's youth and marriage in the earlier books.

Yes I've read the first two books. I finished The Wreath last September and The Wife in March. You have to read all three to "check it off" anyway. I rated The Wreath at 3.5 stars and The Wife at 4 stars.

It does not mean all were Scandinavian, of course, but if you cast as much as a cursory glance at the early literature laurates, you'll find that quite a few hail from there.
Which, given the prize's origin, is not exactly surprising.

The Master and Margarita-audio book"
Two of my favorites! I was unsure about The Master and Margarita at first, but by the end loved it.
There is an excellent graphic novel -- At the Mountains of Madness:A Graphic Novel by I.N.J. Culbard
