I'm in two local book clubs, (btw I call this my online bookclub when I talk about what I'm reading for the group read... that's close enough right?) and this go-round both of my picks came up almost back to back. I just made everybody read The Blind Assassin Now I am making every body read The Handmaid's Tale. Two different book clubs so they won't be getting Margaret Atwood overload or anything...

Hope you don't get Atwood overdose. I've read seven books by Atwood, including both of those but never two within a year of each other.

The Bridge on the Drina by Ivo Andrić of Bosnia, Nobel laureate 1961. I've read another novel by Andric, Bosnian Chronicle. From what I've read so far I think I will enjoy Bridge on the Drina more.
The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner - book from the libaryand
Go Down, Moses by William Faulkner - on my Kindle
Starting this month's group read, Reasons to Live, I'm not a fan of short stories usually, and these are not changing my mind...
I just started reading “The Gathering” and I love it. I don’t understand why it is not dated highly in reviews.

Just started The Grapes of Wrath. I must say, I am already engaged. Surprising for such a long book. It normally takes till page 300 to get good for me.
Starting In the Forest the only list book by Edna O'Brien that my library had. For some reason, I'm in the mood for something darker.
The Broken Seals: Part One of the Marshes of Mount Liang Getting started with the second of the great Chinese epics.
I started Fado Alexandrino by António Lobo Antunes of Portugal a couple days ago. There aren't a lot of these in English translation and I was a little surprised I got it on an interlibrary loan request; it only has 270 GR ratings. Diane will be doing a buddy read with me and possibly another reader.

Awesome! I also started Fado Alexandrino .

I started reading Camilla by Fanny Burney (late 1790s). I'm struck by an incident early on in the novel. The children (all inoculated for smallpox except the youngest) go to a fair. They encounter a child with smallpox. The youngest is immediately removed and the eldest goes to a different house to quarantine from the youngest to avoid contagion. Very apt for the times!
