R7: Team #1 ~ #1 Bombshells
Ditto on the summary thanks! Very close! Now if Mr. R would just line up our squares....(And sorry about the long post...bumped into one of my sideline favorite things...really want to move to a place where I can enjoy frog choruses and fairly light-unpolluted skies, though the skies are the year-round enjoyment!)
No worries on TMI! My whole family is a font of interesting and obscure information! I heard all about the supermoon the other day (just couldn't remember the name). It's really amazing! And Regina, I have never heard of this author.

The sound of another book hitting my massive and unwieldy TBR!!
LOL Leslie! I like that. Do you read either YA or fantasy? If so Marchetta is a must read. Very complex and emotional storylines. She is amazing. These are the ones I have read and I love them all:
In Australia, she is assigned reading at the high school level.
I love fantasy with some exceptions and I am cautious about YA. I read it but I don't always like it. I have 4 kids age 24 to 18. I am full up with YA stuff! My 20 year old daughter is a musician and in honor of boy angst recently wrote and performed a song entitled "Drunk Texting". It's a great song - but ugh - really!! I will definitely be looking into this author. My new favorite fantasy writer is Anne Bishop and her Black Jewels series.
You would like her writing Leslie. I have 4 kids too, oldest almost 14. But it isn't silly or light hearted YA.
Here is the link to this song and others she has written and covered. You can just click on maggieadamsmusic and there are more. https://soundcloud.com/maggieadamsmus...
She wrote the song after her younger sister (age 18) had a little too much wine punch at the shower and had a meltdown over a boy. (Isn't it always over a boy!!)
Regina, what is the age spread of your kids? You have some exciting times ahead of you!! (trying not to sound too gleeful!)
Coverlove is the shelf! http://www.goodreads.com/genres/cover...http://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/c...
One of the books I wanted to be on there is on there! yay - -my book is
LOL about the song, and I love Anne Bishop! Got to start her new series...or reread Black Jewels again soon.
It's that time....Now off to double-check the cards. No winner yet, whew! (But our "dots" are still not connecting...sigh)

Regina:The Piper's Son
Regina - I'm so glad you liked Saving Francesca. It's one of my favourite books. I was lucky enough to meet Melina and she's so lovely - she even signed my copy of Saving Francesca. The Piper's Son is fantastic too. I finished City of Bones for my free space but haven't even started my book week 3 book.
Oh...like usual, still deciding. The ones I own that are on this shelf are:
Leaning towards Enclave, but will decide after menu planning (maybe) & grocery shopping (absolutely must do...). Have absolutely no appetite nor inspiration for cooking, yikes!
Ahhh...finished Enclave! Very, very good! Quick, griping read, and I don't want to go back to the other things I have to read tonight!Full review soon!
Good morning (evening) Team!! Great job, Judithe!! I started mine this morning. Love Cat and Bones.
Kate - I'll be looking forward to your review of City of Bones. I really liked that series.
I love cooking when I have time, but that's in short supply! Grocery shopping went well (as well as can be expected!), fully supplied for the week, now just need to find the energy to cook it! But, being set for bentos & dinner is a relief...
Just finished Obsession

Thoughts:
I wasn't sure what to think of this book. It's a spin-off of Armentrout's YA Lux series (of which Obsidian is the first book). But Obsession is aimed at a more adult market and focuses on the Luxen's enemies - the Arum.
I enjoyed the writing. It was fun, sexy and an interesting read. It was cool seeing the opposite side of the coin so to speak and see just how similar the Arum and Luxen are - and who their true enemies are.
The switching POVs added to the overall feel of the novel - and I enjoyed it more for that. Hunter and Serena are a good match and I liked getting to read their story.
Good value considering I picked up the kindle version for 99c on amazon last week.
Great job, Kate!! So should I read her other series before I read this? I picked it up as well and have never read this author. I'm trying to avoid another YA series if at all possible!@Judithe - what are bentos? I've heard of bento boxes, I assume that's what you are talking about. What do you do with them?
Leslie, I've just finished Obsidian, like 10 minutes ago and I'd say definitely read it first (though I saw somewhere there is also a prequel). And Bento Boxes are lunch boxes ;)
Thanks, Sandra! I knew they were something you carried food in. Good to know new things!!And I didn't want to hear that I have to read the YA books first. Was it any good?
I think that Obsession should stand up pretty well without having read the YA series. There's some overlap (with some Lux characters popping up) but I think it was designed with non-YA readers in mind.
That's what I like to hear, Kate!! I don't mind some confusion over characters I don't know. Regina - do you know what you are reading for this week's shelf? Let us know!!
Monica - hope you got some reading time this weekend. I'm excited to hear what you think of your books!
I'm pretty sure Regina is reading The Piper's Son
(from message 261)It's so easy to lose track of - you're doing a great job, Leslie :)
I did get some reading done yesterday. I am on volume 2 of P&P. hope to get more reading done today. Real life just needs to stop interfering with my reading time.
thanks, Judithe!! I missed those couple of posts.@Monica - completely agree! That pesky RL always gets in the way.
I read a lot today at work. I have P&P on my iPhone under the Nook app so every time I was in the bathroom I would read a chapter. Plus I read at me desk while I waited for a report to finish running on my computer. I am really enjoying the story line. I didn't want to stop reading. I am heading to bed now and will try to read a little more before falling asleep.Have a great night/day!!
It's really cool that you are reading it for the first time and haven't even seen the movie. When you finish it you need to rent the BBC version with Colin Firth. Amazing!! The first time I watched it I just kept putting in video (it was a long time ago) after video and the next thing I know, 6 hours had gone by.Glad you are able to steal some time at work!
I do like the BBC version. I think they cast it perfectly - not just Darcy but Elizabeth in it is one of my favourite Elizabeths.
I agree with the Colin Firth version, but I also liked the latest one with Keira Knightly. Watched the doco on how they created the Bennett house & interiors etc which was really interesting.
I love the Kiera Knightly version as well, but it is definitely a modern interpretation. But the scene at the end when he comes striding across the fields to her is absolutely the most romantic scene ever. My daughters and I swoon every time we watch it.
My daughters and I have decided that all men need a billowing white lawn shirt. So sexy!!!And in the interest of fairness, Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy

Review:
4.5 stars I really loved this installment in the Cat and Bones story. Cat has matured and there is less angst and whining in her relationship with Bones and I really appreciated it. Also, the storyline about Don was very well done. The scenes in New Orleans and with Marie Laveau were interesting on a personal note since one of my husband's ancestor's was involved with the real Marie Laveau and the family tomb is quite close to hers in St. Louis #1. Allegedly her tomb was purchased by my husband's ancestor. This book really cemented my love for this series.
Don't you think it's so sexy because they were all done up with their cravats and jackets and everything and then when you see them undone with that little spot on their chest showing - it's so sexy!!And yes, Sandra - my husband has some pretty cool ancestors! His family has been in South Louisiana since 1699. Lots of colorful stories.
I am so enjoying P&P. I am on Volume 3 and just love the interaction between Darcy and Elizabeth. I got goosebumps while reading the first chapter. I am going to go read some more before going to bed.
I am checking in after working (seriously) an 80 hour week. Heading out for a weekend of camping in the northern woods in Wisconsin. Not sure if I will have service or not. :) Can someone message me the shelf choice on Saturday and if we need to read quickly or not? i will be able to see that in an email, but not updates to this group. Thanks!

Book: Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta
Review:
I loved this book. A longer review to come, but this book made me cry and cry. It made me laugh and it made me smile. Marchetta is a magician. I would read anything she writes. Anything.
