I just finished Alien in the Family last night, and ran online to purchase the next one, Alien Proliferation...cause dying to know what happens with (view spoiler). So, easy choice! Now to double check it's on there somewhere.
Okay so possible books are:I Am Number Four
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
The Tommyknockers
Contact
I will look for them tomorrow.
Regina I was wondering if Under the Dome would be on there. I would love to read that but it would take me months to finish it. Plus I still need to buy it.
So to get three in a row we need to get stamps for:cover love, dystopia and aliens (for one row)
AND
aliens and assassins.
I checked & updated the master sheet (here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/c...)Teams with 4 in a row are listed at the bottom, Teams #4, #6, #7 , #9, & #10. Only #10 has a stamped 4-in-a-row.
Hello everyone! Birthday party over, things have quieted down and now I can try to find a book. Thanks Judithe for posting the updated master sheet and thanks Regina for taking care of things!

Book: The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
Review:
I listened to the audio version of this book. And I would say the narration is done well. The book itself is predictable, but still exciting. It reads/listens like a movie and I have no doubt it will be made into a movie. Still, I enjoyed it and plan to read/listen to the next -- when it is released next year. That is the downside to reading new releases!
We must have been cross posting, Regina!! Thanks! Wedding's not till next Saturday - have a whole week of craziness to get through and it's already started in my family! Brother had the wrong date for the wedding and wasn't booked to arrive till the week after! He's so ADD!! Unbelievable. And I realized that I totally forgot to send you the link to what I was doing so you could edit, but you are obviously doing great at it! Sorry about that.
I had a bit of an accident this weekend which resulted in my spending 6 hours in the emergency room and a fractured arm... but on the bright side I have a cast on the arm - which I've never had before - and it gave me plenty of time to read. I've finished both my Dystopian book AND my one for the angels and demons shelf. My reviews are going to be a little on the shorter side because I'm not so great at typing one handed yet. Week 6: Dystopian
Date Finished: 14/7/13

Book: Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff
Review:
I was excited to read this debut novel by an Aussie author, Jay Kristoff. It's a new world for me not reading very many books set in Asia. I liked the mythological creatures, the fierce young heroine, Yukiko, and her travelling partners. The beginning was a little slow - like a lot of first novels in a series - setting the scene and introducing the reader to this world. There's a lot of great descriptions conveying a vivid landscape. And I feel a bit like the Shogun because I'd love to own a Thunder Tiger too...
I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of the second book in this series (it's currently sitting on my coffee table) and will definitely be reading it soon.
OMGosh, Kate! I'm so sorry this happened to you. But it's the 6 hours in an emergency room that sounds like the most awful part. Those are not fun places to be, especially injured. But so glad you got in good reading time!!
Kate I am so sorry. Do you work -- how will you be able to? How did you break your arm? On a brighter note -- list above is updated!
Week 5: Angels & DemonsDate Finished: 14/7/13
Rating: ★★★★
Book: Shadows by Paula Weston
Review:
I'd never heard of this book till I went to a literary event held by my local library a few months ago. And I'm one of those people who usually don't know very much about authors but if I see an author and like them then I can't help but want to read their book. Angels and Demons aren't one of my favourite genres because at times they get a little too biblical and for some reason that can rub me the wrong way. But not the case in Shadows - I was surprised to find out that Paula didn't even plan on having Angels being in the novel until she was part way though writing it.
I liked the characters - Maggie is a strong protagonist who, whilst strong, isn't devoid of softer emotions. She deals with a lot but doesn't close herself off to the world because of that.
This book is fact paced and I really enjoyed all the action that takes place.
Will be reading the second book in the series.
I currently work in a call centre whilst I'm still studying - only 4 months till my masters if finished! So I'll still be able to work. And the story of how I broke my arm... rather embarrassing. Was housesitting for the parents and I was changing a light bulb but the new one didn't work so then I changed the starter... and forgot to turn the lights off when I was fixing that. Got an electric shock, fell off the chair and landed on my arm. But at least it's my right arm - I'm left handed. I felt pretty stupid.
Now I'm off to pick an Alien book.
Here is where we stand -- I think:Dystopia -- we need 1 more book
Angels and Demons -- we need 1 more book (since last update Kate just finshed hers!)
Assasins -- we need 1 more book
Cover Love -- we need 1 more book (since last update I finished mine)
Alians -- we need 5 more books
Alien Proliferation by Gini Koch
Shelf 7: aliens
Date finished: 7/15/13
Rating: ★★★★1/2
Thoughts:
I wanted a change of pace after my last read, so picked up one of the always-fun Kitty Katt series. It ended with something that had me dying to read the next book, and luckily it coincided with Mr. R's choice for our reading pleasure this week!
Kitty is adjusting to her new role, and imminent role, in her typical fashion. And, also typically, there can be peaceful moments only for short periods of time before everything goes spectacularly BAD!
The snarky comments, plots, subplots and continual action make this a riotous, fast read. I want to say more about the plot, but very hard to do without massive spoilers for those who aren't as far into the series. I'll be picking up the next one very soon! Pleased to see several more books scheduled to come out as well...though one future title is a bit anxiety-producing!
Eeps! Kate, how awful! I hope you're all healed up soon.I was rushing and didn't stop to read the previous posts...
Kate so sorry about your accident. And glad to hear it wasn't your writing arm, fellow left hander.Okay I have been avoiding this thread so that I could finish one of my books. Well here is my review:
Week One: Assassins
The Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum
Date Finished 7/15/13
Rating: ★★★★★
My Review:
Wow, I can't believe I put off reading this book or series for so long. I have wanted to read them but just didn't want to deal with the length. Now I am glad I took the time to read this book.
Jason Bourne.. Is that his real name or is it Cain or possibly Carlos? Those are the questions I started asking myself as this story progressed. Will he ever figure out who he really is?
I don't want to reveal too much about the book or series but I do know that I can't wait to pick up the next book.
