Hello all and welcome to the History Book Club. I am trying to get caught up with all of the new members.
Hi. I am from the USA. I love all kinds of books, but especially have a fondness for reading historical non-fiction. I especially like US history and books about the Revolutionary War. I'm happy to have found this group, and look forward to expanding my reading horizons even further.
Welcome, Chad. Glad you could join us. Please take a look at our Revolutionary War topic:https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you are ready to cite a book. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

Hello! I'm Lauren, and I was looking to join a book group that focused on history.I've been reading a lot of historical fiction this year. While I usually try to pair up fiction with relevant non-fiction, I've not been rigorous this year at all.
I'm a former history teacher, and while I've moved into another area of education professionally, I still love the subject. I am looking forward to reading with you!
My name is Lesley, I am originally from England but lived for 30 years in Israel and at the moment am aboard a small yacht in the Philippines on my way round the world. I tend to think of myself as an Israeli. I am an avid reader in every genre, and am becoming interested in the period of history starting just before World War 1 and up to the end of World War 2 at the moment, especially the Mediterranean and Pacific theaters.
Hello, my name is Jim. I am a former Social Studies teacher. A few years ago I made a commitment to read a biography on all of the deceased US Presidents. I completed that task last year. My personal library contains 61 books about the Presidents. I am looking forward to learning more about Landslide Lyndon.Jim
Hi, my name is Mary D and I have recently retired from a sales position with a leading, global high tech market intelligence firm. I live in CA in the Bay Area. I love history and historical fiction - sometimes I feel what passes for history is really fiction. I am especially interested in American history and am fascinated with all aspects but especially the Civil War. I am currently reading "Lawrence in Arabia" by Scott Anderson. My degree was in history!
Hi everyone! I am a violinist and a teacher of multiple subjects. I love reading many subjects history related, and I really enjoy political history.
We are so glad to welcome a history teacher to the HBC, Lauren. Let me suggest that you browse our home page at the link below and find a topic(s) that catch your eye.....and jump right into the discussions/book recommendations.https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...

Hi, my name is Devan Raj and i am a Bpharm student.I live in Malaysia. I love to read war fiction. So, hope you guys could give some great recommendation.
Hello, my name is Eric. I have had an avid love of history ever since I was young, especially ancient East Asian and Northern European history. Most of what I read is non-fiction, with a preference towards history and scientific books. Unfortunately I do not have as much time for reading as I would like, due to my time being shared between work, school, and my two (almost three) kids, but I manage to fit time in when I can. I am hoping to hand my love of reading and learning down to my kids, which seems to be going well so far, as my eldest, who is 5, says he wants to be a Paleontologist and is always wanting to look at dinosaur books. Anyways, I am happy to meet all of your acquaintance and look forward to my time here.

Hello everyone I am David and I'm glad to be a part of the club! First off, I'm only 16. This surprises a lot of people. I just love history and am a political junkie. I really like American history, specifically World War Two and Cold War era history.
Hello, everyone. My name is Mary and I live in Iowa in the United States. We returned here to retire after living in the greater NYC area for about 25 years. I was one of those kids who hated history - despised memorizing names and dates and studying wars. Then I took a Russian history course and discovered the joy of learning about the past and other cultures. Over the years I read a lot about Russia, the British monarchy, and the Middle Ages. Almost 15 years ago I decided I needed to read American history and have been following a roughly chronological path with some detours and back tracking from time to time. I recently entered the depression and WW II era. I'm looking forward to learning what other readers of history think and peruse.
Hello, my name is Roger. I am a retired university professor, scientist, and former Dean of Science at Prince Island University. I grew up in Sheffield, England, emigrating to Canada in 1969. Growing up in the late 1940s to 60s, I experienced Britain as it attempted to recover, both physically and financially, from WWII. As such, I lived through periods of government austerity and rationing with basic goods in short supply. When material conditions improved and I was in my mid-teens, my parent’s marriage imploded leaving me to confront several stigmas of the day and it influenced my life drastically. I’m looking forward to connecting with like-minded post-war British history enthusiasts.
Hello,My name is Tomas Morales from sunny San Diego, CA. I'm a history and English teacher with a passion for history. My main interest is early American history specially the revolutionary period. I do read about other historical periods and would like to share book recommendations with like minded people.
Welcome, David. I'm glad you enjoy history at such a young age. Awesome. We have a WW2 topic:https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...
