I am Ryan Goodrich, a disabled and retired U.S. Marine, who, I guess you can say, has been a part of recent history. Although, we all make the world spin and, hopefully, leave our mark, right? I'm a history lover, especially anything to do with human origins, Leonardo DaVinci, flight history, the roaring 20's, WWII, or the recent Iraq/Afghanistan conflicts (which I am a veteran of). I have a degree in English (Summa Cum Laude), I am an IT manager at the University of Oregon, I read often, I dabble in some creative pen-whipping, and I have a wife of four years, son, and another little one on the way. Hi, my name is Laura Lochner. I am a psychologist and psychoanalyst living in Edmond, OK. I am interested in British History, particularly Elizabeth I and Henry VIII. I have been reading extensively in U.S. History for the past year or so, focusing on the Gilded Age and the period between the end of the Civil War and the beginning of WWI. Hi, family. My name is Prince. I graduated from the university last year, Computer Science. Although, much of my time in school was spent studying history books, and bios especially those relating to wars and American Navy SEALS.
I also read a lot of mystery fiction in college - Sir Arthur C. Doyle, Sidney Sheldon, Ted Dekker, Dan Brown etc.
I'm currently serving as a youth corper in my country (Nigeria) as a teacher. Afterwards, I'd be moving to the USA hopefully for further studies in economics.
My parents are always worried that my reading habits and range since I was young is dangerous....that I might get caught up in the world of books and lose a sense of reality. I do not think this is the case though. I'm still very much in touch with reality.

Hello, my name is Eileen and I'm new to the group. I live in Northern California and work in the finance field. I studied Government and International Relations and have lived abroad in four countries, including a stint working at the United Nations in Geneva. My interests in history don't center on any one particular time period or geography, but rather on economic, political and science histories. I also enjoy reading histories (or historical fiction) that tell tales about pioneering women, no matter their field of endeavor. I'm not interested in dry academic pieces these days and will put a book down, unfinished, if the author can't write a compelling narrative. I'm always looking for a recommendation as to a good book to read, and look forward to participating in the group.
